I love my Hello Disc!It arrived during my last period day so I was able to try it out without a fear of having too much mess. Insertion was easier than I thought, just know that you have to try out different loop length. Since my cervix length is high, I went with the dropped loop option and it was uncomfortable. I found out that the flipped option is what works for me. April’s period is here and I was able to try it out since the beginning. I was scare of putting it wrong and having leaks because my period is heavy but none of that happened. It has been a pleasant surprise and I love the idea that this will be my new period experience every single month from now on. It has been a pleasant surprise and I love the idea that this will be my new period experience every single month from now on. I did use a liner and I saw super small light brown line/dots on it, I believe this is from the blood residue that gets around the canal at the beginning and during removal/reinsertion. Since I had no issues with following the angle of insertion, I was able to experiment more about the insertion and removal positions. I found out that for me, it was easier to remove while sitting down but way easier to insert while standing up. My removal hasn’t been messy, first time just a little blood on the top of one finger, but that’s just amazing to me. I work out often and it’s like any other day, no discomfort or leakage, it’s like nothing is there (if you put it right). Four years ago, I had a horrible experience with the cup so I was super scare of trying something like this again. I’m so happy I still did because it is a true “period changer” like you have no idea. I haven’t try sex with it, but once I’m more comfortable I will definitely see how that goes. I been talking about this product and my experience with all the women I know so they can also get the chance to enjoy their period. I truly recommend this product and thank you Period Nirvana for all the information and options you put out there for women.

Softdiscs were always slightly too large, sometimes popped out and other times pressed to firmly on my bladder or pelvic bone, so I wanted something smaller if I was going to try again. I just tried Hello disc and it works almost perfectly. Because the rim is softer than Softdiscs, I’m still getting used to putting it in because it slips and buckles as you try to push it and I had to trim off the first ring because I couldn’t keep it tucked and it was irritating my vaginal canal, but it fits like a dream, hasn’t leaked once and is even more comfortable than anything I’ve ever worn before. If you are particularly sensitive around your period and don’t want to feel anything in your lady parts try this disc. I’ve never had children, have a narrow vaginal canal with a more flattened (platypelloid) pelvic bone and a really deep tipped cervix in case that helps others looking for the right fit for them.

Long time tampon user, first time disc user, trying to cut down on waste. I tried the diva cup before there were a bunch of options on the market, and could not get it inserted. I gave up and decided it wasn't meant to be. ~10 years and 2 kids later I felt the urge to try again. I went for the disc instead of the cup because I didn't want to deal with suction and they seemed simpler to put in. Given all the positive reviews for the hello disc, plus the pull tab, I decided to give this one a try. I've used it for 1 cycle and it's definitely a keeper! I preferred wearing it with the tab flipped (tried it with the tab fully out but noticed it too much). No leaks, so I guess that worked. I also found taking it out to be pretty messy, especially on heavy days. Haven't gotten the hang of mess free removals, but hopefully that will come with time. I wore a pad, just in case. I did invest in some period underwear so I can go fully reusable. Not sure I'd feel comfortable emptying it in a public restroom yet - or really in any other bathroom but my own, but again, I think that will come with time. I did notice that I had zero spotting after my period (I usually have a few days post period), not sure if this was a fluke or had something to do with not using tampons this cycle. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend the hello disc - if you're new to the disc/cup world, I'd definitely give yourself some time to figure it out though, not something you want to be learning how to do while out and about (at least I didn't!).

I thought I had found the best menstrual product ever (after trying cups unsuccessfully) and ordered it from Period.Shop. In fact, I reviewed it here and was absolutely amazed by it, but I can't seem to edit that review, so I'm making a new one. The first few periods I tried it, it was great — true period bliss at managing my heavy flow — I could wear it for an hour and a half before having to empty it on my heavy days (never managed to get it to auto-dump). It's been about six(?) months since buying it. Last period, though, it started to completely flip/invert after being inserted, obviously catching no blood, and I got blood everywhere trying to get it out — thankfully it had a pull tab so I could eventually coax it down far enough to find that after bearing down. ... MoreI thought I had found the best menstrual product ever (after trying cups unsuccessfully) and ordered it from Period.Shop. It's been about six(?) months since buying it. Last period, though, it started to completely flip/invert after being inserted, obviously catching no blood, and I got blood everywhere trying to get it out — thankfully it had a pull tab so I could eventually coax it down far enough to find that after bearing down. It's become so unreliable and about 90% of the time I try to use it, it completely inverts/flips itself. This was not a problem in earlier periods because it used to just fit like a glove and I have checked to make sure I'm inserting it properly. And I gave it so many chances because the advice online said the problem was me and not the disc. Multiple times praying I could find the pull tab so I wouldn't need to visit acute care! It's definitely the disc. Nothing works — it just twists around and flips like it's floating. I'm switching to disposable pads (heavy days) and period underwear (light days) because the suction from cups is uncomfortable and I have a high cervix/tons of issues getting them out. My flow is so heavy that sometimes tampons come loose from the string because they're too saturated. I thought this was a great match but it's actually awful.

I tried using reusable cups for years to no success. They leaked, didn’t seem to open properly and create the right suction, and always felt uncomfortable, but I still tried multiple brands and sizes, determined to find a better solution than single use tampons. Then I saw some of the videos that Kim did on reusable discs on the put a cup in it site, and figured I’d try a disc instead. The disc was better but still leaked, but it was far more comfortable (although the removal for me has always been a much messier experience just because of how the disc functions differently). I loved the pull tab to assist in removal and figured it couldn’t hurt to try a different brand disc to see if it worked any better than the one I had been using.I AM SO GLAD I DID! This hello disc has hands down changed my life. I do not leak with it, EVER. I still sometimes wear period underwear with it when I’m sleeping or going to do a very intense workout, but every time, I find that I didn’t need to. I’m honestly so happy to have finally found something that works the way it’s intended to, is so comfortable to wear (I don’t feel it at all. I’ve had to check before cause I can’t remember if I’ve put it in), and is reusable. I love everything about it. It is still messy during removal (I think Kim had referred to it in one of the initial videos I had seen on reusable discs as a “blood tray” which is essentially what it is), but I will take the messy removal over the leaking any day. I know that when I pull the disc, it’s going to gush a little blood on my hand when I remove it because it really fills up and stays filled up during the 12 hours between removals. I love that it can auto empty a bit and continue to keep being used without complete removal throughout the day as well. Honestly, truly, life changing for me. ❤️

I have been a diva cup loyalist for about 5 years. I tried some disposable discs way back when and hated them, so I never considered the reusable ones very seriously. It was the promises of self-emptying and mess-free sex that finally got me to try the hello disc. As much as I loved the menstrual cup, it definitely was not fun emptying it, especially in public, and then having to wash the blood out from under my fingernails and nail beds. The sex thing was a bit of a wash because up to this point, sex with a menstrual product in was not something I’d ever considered possible.Enter hello cup. I chose hello because of the tab feature. I have tiny little fingers, and it was sometimes hard even to get my diva cup out, so the tabs were a big selling point. I was kind of intimidated by the insertion instructions “what if I angle it wrong? What if I can’t find my pubic bone? What if it’s not in securely enough?” I will say the insertion is a bit more difficult than a cup insertion, just because the disc is larger and doesn’t like to stay folded. I was able to get it in without too much trouble, and all my other fears were immediately assuaged. Turns out I have a fairly prominent pubic bone, which I know isn’t the case for everyone, but based on the feel of it settling into place, I think it would also be fine with less prominent ones. It did kinda just pop right in there, and there was no mystery of “is it in right?” The biggest challenge was keeping it angled so the tab faced the vaginal opening, and even that wasn’t too bad. All in all, I’d call it a difficult insertion, compared to cups and tampons, but still a fairly easy one, in terms of general effort. When it came to security, NO LEAKS! Enough said there, I guess. The first time I went to the bathroom with it, it didn’t self empty, but it was okay because I hadn’t had it in very long and didn’t need to empty it yet. The second time I went, I had my feet up on a squatty potty, and BOOM! It all came out. And no need to readjust when I stood back up either, even after some light pushing while doing my business (sorry if that’s tmi, but that would be a huge selling point for me, and I figured it might be for others as well), so in short, the disc emptied almost completely, with no need to put my fingers in to assist in the emptying process or push it back into place. I think it might be a bit harder to use the self-emptying feature in a public restroom because it seems to rely on you being in a more squatted position, or at least it did for me. But either way, since it lasts 12 hours, it should almost always be possible to wait to empty it until you’re in a private bathroom. So A+ FOR SELF EMPTYING! And another fun fact I didn’t know until after buying it, is that the disc has about twice the capacity of a menstrual cup, which is very helpful because I have a heavy flow, and on my heaviest days, I would have to empty my diva cup every 5-6ish hours. I have no concerns about this one lasting the 12 hours as advertised. It recently made it through my heaviest day without so much as a drop of blood in my undies. Now, for the removal. I kept the tabs tucked back under for my first time using this, and it was not super easy to remove. Luckily, I was in the shower and it was no big deal to get a little messy, but I could not hook the rim right with my finger from underneath. And I couldn’t even get any friction on the tabs underneath to coax the cup out. I ended up having to go over the top of the rim with my thumb and pulling it out that way. Luckily, I could reach it with my thumb, which means pretty much anyone can because I have teeny hands. My friend’s 10-yr-old daughter has bigger hands than me. Since that first time, it hasn’t been much of a problem to remove it, even if the tabs are tucked, because they’ve been easy to untuck - maybe the disc was just turned or something the first time? It is about messier than the diva cup removal, for the same reason that it self-empties, as soon as it comes out from behind the pubic bone, it all dumps out…and that’s onto your hand if you’re removing it. You could try letting it self-empty first and then pulling it out, but for me, it hasn’t resulted in much less of a mess, still at least diva cup level. The good news is, after a few periods, I have not ever needed to empty it in public and have always been able to wait until I get home, with no close calls, even. So removal is weird and I would NOT want to do it in public, but under most circumstances, you should have no trouble waiting until you’re somewhere private. As for the intercourse claim, I have yet to test that one, but the way it sits when it’s in makes me believe that it would work. It doesn’t block the vaginal canal, so anything that enters the vagina would move past it, not bump into it, so that makes sense. I’m skeptical about the claim that your partner won’t be able to feel the tabs, but they’re soft, so there’s no way they would hurt, regardless.Bottom line: not the easiest insertion, and removal is a blood bath, but all the other features more than make up for that. I am officially a convert!

I did not have the experience I was hoping for with this disc. I have used 4 different kinds of discs/cups and this one was my second to least favorite. While I understand the purpose of the tab, I found it more difficult to use than a standard rim disc I can hook my finger into. The problem was, when I had to push my finger inward to clip under the tab, my finger would inevitably manipulate the cup portion of the disc and it would cause the disc to bleed over. No matter what I did differently, how gentle and patient I was, I always wound up with blood all over my hands. I attempted to keep the tab in the opened position but the tab sticking out of my va-jay-jay was really uncomfortable. I also would not recommend using this disc during intercourse. My boyfriend felt around and it was an instant "Nope, nuh uh" on his end, particularly because of the tab.Another issue I had was this disc definitely leaked. I was sitting in my office sending emails and felt a flush of leakage upon standing up. Leakage happened twice while sleeping as well. I have used other disc without any leakage issues for years, I know how to use discs and where they fit well in my body. This disc just didn't perform. It's possible different sizes may be required to accommodate unique body types. I don't believe a "on size fits all" approach is any good when it comes to vaginas.I'm pretty bummed because I was excited about this disc. Mine is unfortunately going to get lost in the back of my toiletry closet somewhere from lack of use.
