Hema Australia Road & 4WD Atlas

One cannot assess a motoring atlas until there is some post-Covid opportunity to get out and recommence travel. However I've looked through the new atlas and I am left doubting that Hema have made the effort to update every map (or otherwise to check each page to ensure the map thereon is the most contemporary). I suspect that many or most have simply been lifted from their files that constitute the previous version and re-used. A case in point; check the Adelaide map on p117. Neither the tram network nor the O-Bahn Busway have been updated from the map of 10 or 15 years ago. What else, I wonder? I suspect Hema have done their customers a grave disservice.

Beautifully presented!!! My ONLY criticism is that the spiral binding looks like brittle plastic, so I'm somewhat unconvinced of the binding's robustness. Am hoping against hope that the binding is genuinely strong. Real steel wire would be a lot more reassuring than a clear plastic.

I bought this for my 4WD fanatic son. He loves it!! He’s going to SA over Xmas and it has given him lots of ideas about where to go and how to get there. Perfect gift for him!

Awesome atlas

We just used our Hema Road & 4WD Atlas for our trip from Perth to Central Australia. We loved the accuracy of the maps and found the details of all the rest areas (such as 24hr, toilets, etc) extremely useful when it came to planning our stops. Having the hard copy atlas was very beneficial when we were in areas without phone reception.

Awesome map book

Awesome book has everything you need to travel around Australia. We have gone from Melbourne and are currently in Ayr qld. We have stopped at some amazing places camping areas it tells you if it’s powered or not and if there are toilets or not. It’s my new best friend 😂

Excellent update

We have used the previous editions over other such map books for very many, wide ranging trips around Australia. It got so tatty that my octogenarian husband asked me to buy new one exactly the same. This edition has loads new information - particularly the locations of information centres - and the maps are even easier for my husband to read as he navigates us around this expansive country.Highly recommended!

Great for travel

This is the second edition of this 4wd atlas we have owned. It shows points of interest, camp spots, bitumen roads and off road tracks clearly and gives many options depending on what sort of travel you want to do

HEMA quality

HEMA quality, all in one book, great for touring and planning. Lots of detail including 4WD tracks , fuel, food, camping etc, especially given the scale. If you need even more detail HEMA has a range of other higher resolution products. Highly Recommended.

HEMA map book. Awesome and easy to read. Invaluable for planning our recently completed 5 week trip from NSW to Outback Queensland to Great Keppel Island!

Well Travelled

Hema are good at providing maps with great detail, this book is no different. However the pages are too small for the amount of info, the original large format, while more awkward to store, was far easier to read and navigate.
