First released later in 1971, Rainbow Bridge premiered signature classics such as "Dolly Dagger," and further outlined the exciting new creative direction in which Hendrix had steered his music. Featuring favourites like "Room Full Of Mirrors" and "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)," Rainbow Bridge was compiled and mixed by Hendrix's longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and drummer Mitch Mitchell (with assistance from fellow Electric Lady Studios engineer John Jansen). In a review by Robert Christgau, Rainbow Bridge was praised for the "sound [Hendrix] shapes with a virtuosity no one else has ever achieved on an electric instrument." In a review for Rolling Stone magazine, music critic Tony Glover wrote favourably of the songs, particularly the "really majestic version" of "The Star-Spangled Banner". For many fans, these albums served as the first introductions to this boundary stretching materialrecordings that saw Hendrix take fullest control of his musical gifts, writing, recording and producing the balance of these works from his newly-constructed Electric Lady Studios in New York City. To this day, they remain a significant signpost in Hendrix's catalogue: a reflection of the public's interest in more material from the iconic performer in the wake of his death, and the first public expression of his latest evolution as an artist. Now, Experience Hendrix will reintroduce this classic record into Jimi Hendrix's catalogue for fans of all generations to discover. This is the first official release of Rainbow Bridge. Bernie Grundman has remastered both albums from the original analogue masters; all original album artwork will be utilized.
