Hennessy XO is rich, full-bodied, complex, and has always embodied the finest traditions of Hennessy cognac. Originally created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy using very old eaux-de-vie, XO was reserved exclusively for his family and friends. XO is blended from more than 100 eaux de vie specially selected from the four premier growing areas. Some of the eaux de vie used in the blend have been ageing in the Hennessy warehouses since the early part of this century. Tasting Note Its deep and intense amber colour and glimpses of mahogany are an indicator of its power. Open and well balanced, the nose is full of rich aromas of black pepper and wild cocoa, softened by notes of dried and preserved fruits with a delicately spicy edge. Richly textured, rounded and pleasing, it manages to possess both power and softness at the same time, with a chocolatey hint and an all-encompassing overtone of fruitiness. Its tremendous length emphasises its initial complexity. At once soft and powerful, it has an undeniably modern personality, which enables it to be appreciated either neat, on the rocks or even cut with a splash of water. Food Matching Traditionally X.O has been enjoyed following a fine meal, however more and more people are discovering the added pleasures of X.O 'On the Rocks'.

This is a great drink and a benchmark for a reason. Everything about it is elegant, well polished and balanced.Flavors are fruity and floral with the wood flavors taking a backseat (especially when compared side-by-side with the Courvoisier XO for example). An amazing cognac experience.

Smells really smooth.Nice on the aroma.Looks are totally pleasing and delightful.I wish the taste was as good as it smells and looks. Comes up harshly short on taste.

Well worth the expense and experience. Hennessy XO offers soft notes of vanilla with a smooth spice finish, a great after dinner liquor.

We moved to a more remote location and my husband has been looking for henessey xo with no luck! They shipped directly to me and it was a great birthday present! I wish that it got here when it was supposed (arrived one day after his birthday) to but you canβt win them all I guess.
I am surprised at the mediocrity at this price. One would not describe this cognac as rich or smooth. Given that, why is it priced so high? It finishes harsh for an XO. I'm happy to spend money for quality, but his cognac begins with a very weak but enticing nose of holiday herbs and spices, then falls apart and finishes like burnt coffee.
I ordered this as a gift for my father and it arrived very well packaged and the bottle and box were in perfect condition. The only flaw was the next day delivery for Ireland that I paid for fell through as I ordered on a Thursday and it arrived on the following Monday. I'm sure this was only due to Covid, but I was disappointed it was late as I wanted it for fathers day. My father loved the brandy and the bottle itself is beautiful.
Hennessy is the cognac with the best reputation, the most sales, and the highest quality. Similar to Rolex watches, there are alternative brands that are equally as fine without the name, sales, and marketing. In my opinion, Martell Cordon Bleu offers the best value and cuisine. Hennessy is a close second, followed by Martell CB & XO. Tesseron lot 53 is the next level up financially and smoothly. Enjoy each of these wonderful cognacs. Cheers!
Hennessy has the biggest name and the largest sales and is a top shelf cognac. Same as a Rolex watch, there are other brands that are just as good without the name, sales and marketing behind it. IMHO Best value and taste goes to Martell Cordon Bleu. Martell CB & XO are my #1 with Hennessy a close #2. The next step up in dollars and smoothness is Tesseron lot 53. Enjoy all of these great cognac's. Cheers!
Impulsive splurge out of curiosity to compare with the VS and VSOP. Warm rich flavor with no harshness or bite. Feels like it just melts away at the end with a pleasant aftertaste and nose. Sweetness is light and subtle; perfectly balanced. Truly enjoyable to sip and savor. Bottle is unique, but honestly kind of cumbersome to handle.
FWIW I'm drinking this on a cruise right now and it's included in the beverage package so I can't comment too much on the price. The flavor though is absolutely outstanding. Lovely notes of dark chocolate and oak layered over a light floral and sweet stone fruit body. Really exquisite. Absolutely zero burn. Pairs perfectly with a cigar as well. Definitely the best cognac I've had the pleasure of tasting.
