Great addition to our line-up

We started using Hercules with some odd shaped high-end guitars. Their auto-lock neck holding feature for guitars is a great feature as the body remains off the ground and not in a cradle. This thoughtful, well built design sold me on the brand. As such, when it came time to seek our first sax stand, Hercules was a clear first trusted option. As with our guitar stands, we've been impress with the sax stand given the structural soundness, great design and instrument protection.

I have not had a tremendous amount of experience purchasing Saxophone stands but this one is definitely more sturdy and heavy duty than my previous stand. It is well made of sturdy materials and is easily folded for transport. Compact, quick break down, and quick set up. It's seems to be a stand that will last many many years.

Review of Hercules - DS530B - Alto/tenor saxophone stand

You can rely on Hercules. I have had several stands from them for various instruments and none even show wear let alone break. Perfect as when I bought them.(maybe a few cat chew marks on one in the soft foam areas- maybe a chilli powder could have stopped that)

A good solid stand. Legs don't stand out to trip over them. Noticed a lot of players using them. Quick to set up and take down.

Solid, compact stand with a slight design issue

I've had mine for quite some time, and I love how study it is (if you can get over how your sax will rock slightly in the stand), and how compact it gets. Great for gigs where I use public transit! However, at my last gig, my tenor fell backwards a few inches toward the floor, because the stand toppled-- One of the two legs that fold backward and lock had slipped forward within the yellow metal triangular base because I had moved the sax and stand as one about a foot or two! Fortunately, there was just a slight "thunk" as I caught the tenor, and the bow bracing stopped all damage. Since then, I took a pair of large vice grips and pinched the tabs at the back corners of the yellow triangle brace closer to each other, so that when you lock the fold-out legs into their position, they'll LOCK again, and won't limply drift back forward into the collapsed position. I'd still recommend this stand, as long as you make sure the fold-out legs don't have any play, and you tighten the yellow metal tabs. I'm docking it one star because of the slight forward-and-back play in the stand, and because of this issue with the leg-locking.

Standard stand, but not perfect.
29 July 2019

It's an industry standard, but has issues in particular over time. The holes for the rivets get widened eventualy and begin to make the stand wobbly. I just threw one away because the rivet got stuck and it wouldn't collapse. Before that, it didn't open it up fully and my horn fell back on the mouthpiece on stage. It was very wobbly and contributed to the fall I believe. I however ended up buying another one due to suitable lack of options, or knowledge of other products.

The best sax stand, period.
9 April 2019

Awesome product. super strong, sturdy, and sets up in seconds. Holds alto or tenor saxes securely. The brace that touches the lower part of the bell is adjustable up/down to accommodate alto/tenor and to enable you to avoid hitting any of the big tone holes on that part of the horn. Also accommodates a peg for a clarinet or flute (sold separately - or you can buy a different model that comes with the peg).

This stand does NOT hold a tenor sax.
15 March 2022

The part that is supposed to support the bottom of the bell slips upward into closed position. This causes the Tenor sax to hit the metal of the stand and fall over. I can't speak for alto, But this stand does not support a Tenor saxophone.

best stand yet

My first Hercules stand was for my bari, recommended by a horn repairman and I switched out my tenor and alto stands pretty much right away. They are quick to set up, sturdy and stable. All the joints lock. The locks are released easily and the stand folds up tight. The yellow paint at the base is visible in dim lighting. It holds the horn in a nice pose. The pricing is reasonable. It's a good buy.
