First came across this scent in the form of hotel toiletries at a luxury Sofitel resort in Asia, and thought it’d be brilliant as a cologne, since the scent was vibrant, citrusy and sophisticated. I found out that such a thing already existed, but when I bought it, its performance was disappointing. The scent just dissipates completely within an hour of spraying it…it’s like you didn’t put on any cologne at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love the scent—it’s inoffensive and masculine-leaning to my taste—but I don’t see myself repurchasing a cologne that performs this badly. Maybe I’ll just take some shampoos as souvenirs the next time I stay at a Sofitel.

I initially got this cologne from a department store men’s counter sample. Instantly liked it. Eventually used it all and bought this larger size. I feel it’s a fresh, unique scent that wears well. Not overpowering. I don’t spray much on. Doesn’t induce headaches as other scents do for me. Refilled my sample bottle with this larger one so can travel easier. Also this is legit Hermes, not a knock-off. Can tell from the scent obviously but also the packaging.

Truly, I’m only using this daily to work because I don’t want to use my other colognes, and it was a gift. It smells like oranges and lemon (not to mention I love putting lemon on my food!). I spray about 3-5 pumps on my body - I kind of want to finish it so I can move in to my next cologne. It’s not a bad fragrance, it’s just that I can tell this is more alcohol than oil. I’m so used to Tom Ford colognes that I love the oil-based colognes rather than alcohols based. This is Hermès which is pricey but it doesn’t mean it’s great - I mean, sure I use it Monday-Friday but only for work. It’s my go-to cologne during work days but definitely not for nighttime. This is more of a morning/afternoon aroma that’s not very overwhelming. I’m more than halfway done with it which ... MoreTruly, I’m only using this daily to work because I don’t want to use my other colognes, and it was a gift. I’m more than halfway done with it which tells you that I do not hate it - it’s alright, just not really what I would prefer wearing. The scent isn’t distinctive - it’s just like any other cologne where you really cannot tell it’s Chanel No. 5 because it doesn’t really stand out.

This is a fun lemon. It's the lemon of a candy, not a fresh fruit. The lemon of a cocktail, not a lemonade. The lemon of a tart. A really interesting take on citrus. Like most of the Hermes fragrances I've tried, I really like the opening so the first 20 minutes or so are lovely, then it gets boring for me. Dry-down is fast, and then it's gone, it's a completely different scent with nothing from the opening remaining, and it's not a scent I like - a kind of cleansing wipe powdery sourness.

A Brilliant Fragrance

Eau de Gentiane Blanche is a magnificently photorealistic depiction of gentian flower and damp humus, with deep, shadowy, savory vegetal elements that I've only ever encountered in Eau d'Italie Bois d'Ombrie (which I unfortunately never replenished). It opens with a spiky, sharp green tone for which I have a penchant (artemisia, wormwood, and thuja notes are so appealing to me as well). This sensation is much like that of metallic leaves of pelargonium (not the rosy-scented type) foliage under the sun, tomato leaves, green peppers, various nightshades, there's just something so wonderfully evocative, but it doesn't end there: the iris, which while not pronounced, provides a softer, shadier, almost somber counterpoint to it all, a shift from sun to shade, maybe ... MoreEau de Gentiane Blanche is a magnificently photorealistic depiction of gentian flower and damp humus, with deep, shadowy, savory vegetal elements that I've only ever encountered in Eau d'Italie Bois d'Ombrie (which I unfortunately never replenished). This is most evident in the heart and the base, as a subtle smoke enters the picture, the incense element, shading the experience even further, which is an interesting contrast to the damp earth and leaves effect. For an EDC, this has the longevity of an EDT or even an EDP is your skin holds it well. While relatively linear, save for the more pronounced irones and incense in the drydown, it is really artfully composed and just beautiful to my nose. It really is the kind of fragrance that those who are drawn to a reflective, even pensive vibe would be enamored with. I am one of those thinkers and dreamers and I love it.

A purchase you won't regret
12 January 2022

This perfume is the first perfume I bought in summer. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to buy perfume online, because I couldn't really smell it, and I didn't know the condition of this perfume, whether it was new or old. But when I got the perfume, everything was great! The delivery was quick, and my perfume was not damaged at all, including the box. Finally, when I really smelled it, I was really happy that I had made a right choice. In a word, the purchase was very pleasant!

Best Cologne after years of search
23 December 2022

I love this fragrance, I discovered it last year as a gift for myself and I eventually ran out. When I found out that Walmart is selling it for $60-$70, as compared to $130 at Hermes or Saks or other big box places, it was a no-brainer.I think its an amazing scent that can be sported by any gender, the deep citrus notes are really what draws it to me. It spices up an otherwise well grounded scent.

I have been using the HERMS Eau dOrange Verte Eau de Cologne for years and still love it. Classic, refreshing scent. 5 star unreservedlyUnfortunately, my latest experience was not a good one. For some reason the spray pump pipe was short by about 11.5cm from touching the bottom of the bottle. I only noticed it when I could hear the liquid in the bottle but the pump when pressed would not spray any at all. At first I thought it was a fault with the pump. Luckily I had kept an old empty bottle of the same size and cologne. I used the old screw on spray pump on the newer bottle and everything worked as expected. In the process of changing the pump, however, I noticed that the length of the old pipe was about 2cm longer than the new one. Now, I have no way of telling whether this was due to a oneoff manufacturing glitch or what the size of that batch actually was. It would however, have been an easy mistake to consider the bottle was empty and throw it away with about 2025ml wasted. Quite an expensive waste in the context of the overall price. NOTE My purchase was made at an airport duty free shop and not from Perfumes of London. The intention of my review here is to alert future customers to a potential problem.

UNBELIEVABLE SCENT
1 October 2021

I love the fact that this scent is unisex, it's somehow chic and feminine without being overly girly. I also love how crisp and fruity it smells, giving you timeless elegance. I've been using it this past summer and was about to change my scent for the fall, but I find it actually seems to be fitting for all seasons, due to its light nature. I also love the packing and love that it's travel-friendly. I've been wanting this for years and finally decided to splurge and I think it's worth every penny. It does fade more easily than stronger perfumes, which is understandable since it's not an overpowering scent. I prefer this, as I'm someone that likes my scents to always be subtle so that those around me get an occasional whiff of the smell rather than a persisting scent.

Got this cologne for the summer. It smells like mandarine wood clean scents. Over time as it fades it gets better. Mandarine fades but you get the clean scent. Doesn’t stain clothes or collars. Scents last 2 days. Excellent buy. The quality may be compared to le labo. Won’t disappoint.
