I am a whiskey connoisseur and I have tried a lot brand and varieties of said brands. This particular whiskey is one of the best I have ever tried. Suntory has been around since 1923 and you can tell with the quality product! This IS NOT A SHOOTING WHISKEY! This is a whiskey that you sip with a good cigar or your favorite snack. It's great as an aperitif or post steak dinner! In Texas it was hard to find but check the little Mom'n'Pop stores. That's where I finally found it! In the larger retailers, they will stock the Toki (just as great) but not Hibiki. Not sure why because it is an experience you must have!

10 out of 10. I don't say this very often, but this is worth the cost. Just a "for your information", for a whisky I wouldn't describe it as having a lot of flavor, but the flavor that is there is really top notch. I don't think everyone is going to appreciate it, you're more likely to enjoy it if you're the type of connoisseur who appreciates subtle nuances. There is a smokiness that is done to perfection, in the most sophisticated and expensive way possible. Something to be aware of, both Suntory's Hibiki Harmony and entry level Toki are like a 3-way mix; one third American whisky, one third Scotch whisky, and one third Japanese sochu, so in that since it has a different character from the usual. You can really taste a fresh mineral water in the background, it's obvious that this was made from fresh water from a local stream. The Hibiki Harmony is definitely better than the Toki, it's like the Toki brought to refinement. This is the type of thing that you're not going to want to keep drinking more than one of at the same time, but you will very much appreciate the first 2oz shot. Due to the high price, it's best enjoyed neat, by itself, or in some way that its underly flavor can really shine through. Remember, this is refinement, so if you go about mixing it with other stuff it's really going to be waste. (Although I'm sure it would make amazing mixed drinks if you wanted to waste the money) (The Toki version is probably the one more appropriate for careless mixing, and has rougher edges, not as refined flavor) Again, I don't think everyone is going to appreciate it, it's for those who appreciate subtle refinement, and if you don't care for Scotch or Japanese sochu, this might not be for you. This is not for simple-minded people who just want bold flavor. Though intended to be a whisky, in many ways this also is very much a Japanese influenced drink, and Japanese attitudes are reflected in the character: subtlety, precision, refinement, discipline, cleanliness, attention to detail, artisanship and exacting expert technique yet simplicity. It's smooth, balanced, and a hint of exquisite incense-like Mizunara oak (though it's also previously aged in American bourbon barrels).

Hibiki has been known to be a great Japanese whiskey for years. Sadly, I couldn’t get any local to where I am, which is why I had to search for it elsewhere. I am super glad I bought from this site. They packaged the liquor amazingly well and the gift arrived quite nicely. Will order from here again!
Hibiki still lives up to its potential as some of the best whisky out there; winning several of world whiskey awards to this date as it competes with the best bourbons made internationally. If you get into Japanese Whiskey you have to understand the origins and where it comes from as it tends to note some of the lighter sides of scotch (an isle, island tier flavor). Hibiki has a rich smoothness with full of oak, almond, spice and rich tastes that are completely indescribable. If you want to further enjoy the past flavors of Hibiki, please refer to the age statement hibiki’s that are an entirely rich fulfilled experience.***European whiskeys do not compare to Japanese whiskey to any extent. *** please understand that Japanese distilleries are being shut down because ... MoreHibiki still lives up to its potential as some of the best whisky out there; winning several of world whiskey awards to this date as it competes with the best bourbons made internationally. Despite the shortage, the Japanese still rely on quality rather than costs to ensure the best taste for the consumer. That’s why the price is so high, it’s becoming a rarity.Final words, Hibiki, Yamazaki, Hakushu, Yoichi, Nikka Coffey Grain whiskey, Nikka Malt are all notable whiskeys to look for if you want quality in taste.
I really love the Yamazaki 12 for its full, round flavors and sublime smoothness, but the Hakushu 12 left me feeling disappointed. I had to pick up a Hibiki Harmony to see how it compared as it is blended from the two, and it is indeed tasty. But really, it comes across as very young with a lot of burn, so I'm not sure why people are giving it such high ratings and calling this so smooth. I personally think Kura the Whisky (which is peated) is a better buy if you can find it, but the Japanese whisky craze seems out of control to me. I'd buy Yamazaki 12 all day long for twice the price of this Hibiki, because to my taste it is worth it. But for the money, I'm not replacing this one.
(nose 3/3)(taste 3/3)(finish 2/3) 8ptsHibiki Harmony is a whisky that gets the nose excited. I had to do a couple whiffs and sniffs to capture the complexity of what adventures awaits. Imagine pineapple, honey, pepper, and tones of fresh bananas.. Usually when it comes to alcohol anything with banana flavoring I would look the other way. Yet this whisky was able to pull off the impossible making me aroused by the forbidden fruit. Hibikik was a mouthful of flavors. Just let this whisky sit and it seems to disappear like magic.
I've been hearing more and more about Japanese whisky over the years and thought it was about time to dive in. Yes, it is expensive, but I would rather drink less and enjoy it more. This bottle of Hibiki is not only beautiful to look at but delivers on taste as well. Now to try the Yamazaki....
Smooth easy drinking whisky. This was the first whisky I liked when I first started drinking whisky. Perfect to begin with, perhaps a bit pricey for a beginner but definitely very enjoyable for both beginners and the whisky connaisseur.
I have a bunch of buddies who loves this whisky and can rarely find it. I figured I’d give it a try, although I am not a Japanese whisky fan. I”m a bourbon guy. My thoughts are that it is VERY sweet tasting, but a little too much or me. I also got the same hints that I get with other Japanese whiskies, which I am not a fan of. So, overall, it’s probably a good Japanese whisky (because I trust my friends taste and they love that type), but if you aren’t a Japanese whisky fan, then keep moving - this one won’t change you mind about them.

Product description Given the name, it should come as no surprise that Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky is a harmonious blend of Japanese craftsmanship. Considered the paragon of Japanese whisky, Hibiki is a unique blend of several malt and grain whiskies that are meticulously added, resulting in an orchestra of aromas and flavors. Hibiki is the culmination of the Japanese art of blending and expert craftsmanship, with a healthy heaping of luxury thrown in for good measure. The brand was launched in 1989 to celebrate the brand Suntory's 90th birthday, and it's become Japan's most highly awarded blended whisky of all time. More than that, Hibiki takes the honor of being among the most prestigious whiskies the world over. Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky is both delicate and luminous with a wonderful complexity. The amber-colored liquid smells of rosemary, rose, lychee and sandalwood, paving the way for a honey-like sweetness with notes of white chocolate and candied orange peel. As for the finish, Hibiki Japanese Haromy is subtle with a hint of Japanese oak, which lingers on the palate. It’s best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with a bit of water added. Japanese whisky pairs remarkably well with Japanese food, so don't be afraid to drink it with sashimi, sushi or a strong fermented fish. It also makes a wonderful cocktail, such as the Sokaiya, which consists of Hibiki, bitter Sencha green tea and ginger liqueur.
