I have four cats (because I’m that kind of spinster, lol), and it’s not really viable for me to buy wet food at the scale they’d consume it. Hill’s Science Diet came recommended by my vet, and all four of my cats eat the adult dry food happily—I started out with the kitten dry food last year because two of mine were still kittens then, and they’ve graduated to the adult dry food with no transitional hiccups. This food keeps them all satisfied and has caused no issues, digestive or otherwise, that I’ve noticed.

Hills Science Diet makes far superior diet for any species you you would consider feeding their foods . Their cat foods are no exception. Their specialty diets and regular diets are prepared with dietary needs the highest concern. Each in made with veterinary I put as well I doubt very seriously you would find a good that is higher quality or better made. They make cat/feline, dog/canine, Bird/parrots, monkey/primate, rabbit/bunny, several other feeds items. You love you pets, feed them the best you can. Do your homework.

My 12 and 16-year-old cats are both on this food. They were eating the regular senior cat food and my older cat gained a lot of weight. They seem perfectly content with the switch, and I admit I didn't do it gradually. My older cat, a Norwegian, has never been an active cat, but my calico seems to have plenty of energy on this new formula. Plus, my vet is always surprised by the tooth and gum health of my cats, and I don't brush their teeth.

My 14 yr old fluffy cat has now got her severe constipation & fur balls overcome. She also has arthritis being medicated. Plus has been overweight. Isn't keen on this food, but adjusted to eating it as she hasn't any choice. The positive side is that I can measure this food over the day yet leave it out for when she prefers to eat it, mostly at night, without her gobbling it up too rapidly. We are even progressing with the gradual weight loss desired. She no longer gets cystitis from stress from severe constipation pain, or discomfort from laxatives nor toilets outside her litter box from distress. Most cats with previously strong appetite will adjust to this food regardless of any initial protest. I have a 16 year old girl who lost a few teeth. I've been trying to find a hard food that's softer for her as I can tell she's not fond of too crunchy. She's been on the Hills prescription diet for early support kidney food, but we switched it up. Our goal is to help her gain weight and if I can find a hard food she'll eat and be happy with will be the day!!! I just want her to stay full or not puke all the food back up. She has a hyperthyroid as well so the weight gain is very much necessary for her! However I was hoping with this being 11+ food that the kibble would be way smaller! I was shocked to see how large the pieces were!! And it'd be a little understandable if they piece were at least a little softer than normal hard food, but it's not. So I'm not sure if ... MoreI have a 16 year old girl who lost a few teeth. I've been trying to find a hard food that's softer for her as I can tell she's not fond of too crunchy. So I'm not sure if the point of having the large food for older cats is so they don't inhale it and so they can digest it better. I'm not sure, but it's still strange to me that they're so large for older senior cats. She likes the food here and there.. but I think it's still too hard so, unfortunately looks like I'll have to take it back to the pet store and figure something else out. This isn't to make people not buy the product because you should try, i mostly am confused on the size is all.
I switched to this food because one of my cats, Loverboy, had chronic diarrhea that the medicine the vet gave us wasn't helping. Given his age, the vet had suggested a series of blood tests called a "senior screening" They all came back normal. The vet didn't have any other suggestions.I suspected that Loverboy might have developed a food sensitivity after a friend's cat became ill feeding the same commercial cat food I was.. After weighing all my options, I went with Hills Science Diet 7+. (I later found out they have a senior formula too.) It came on a Wednesday and I switched him to it right away. He gobbled it up, no problem. (As did our other cats.) By Saturday I noticed his stools were firmer and he was acting more energetic than he had in months. A week later and his stools were nearly back to normal. Now I don't even see his stools, because he's stopped having "accidents" around the house and uses the box like normal! We have five (I know!) cats that are all eating Hill's, and their coats have become noticeably softer and shiner. Our black tuxedo cat, who is also 11, looks especially sleek, and our fluffy dilute calico, who is 5, has a coat that now feels like a could!I've just re-ordered another bag of Hill's Science Diet.
We chose to switch our sweet indoor kitty to this excellent product because of the high quality & vet recommendation. Our kitty has always been an indoor cat and requires very little maintenance. This food has all the essentials necessary for the longevity and health of an indoor cat. I had no reservations about this product and Hills Science Diet is of the upmost standards when it comes to a vet recommended pet food. Our little kitty is very happy with the taste, smell & nutrition provided by this food. My only small dislike of this product is that the size of each individual piece is quite large for cats. She doesn’t have a problem eating it, but if your cat does not like larger sized pieces then you may not like this exact food. When I opened the bag, I was concerned about the kibble size. It's an awkward triangle shape that seemed fairly big. I was transitioning to this food, so I mixed it with my cats weight loss SD dry food with small round kibbles and he left in the triangle Indoor kibble in the bowl! My dogs have done this, but never my cats. Will need to find another indoor cat food.
We bought this as our 20+ yr Vet we been going to (they had took care of our now 5 kitties & 2 puppies & they had recommended SD prescription for 2 others we could only get from them & 2 other kitties we were able to get from pet store) & our Vet had explained to us how to transition over from kitten food to adult food even if same brand/flavor. Thanks to SD & our Vet they saved our 2 babies & let them live with us longer (4+ yrs but then stupid Cancer took them just like that not the other diseases). So we trust SD & our Vet (we had same Vet for well over 20 yrs). We accidently bought what we thought was the same kind for our baby boy a few months ago & Colby Jack (CJ) would not eat it & we said it is chicken & SD so called Vet & read the bag to them & then ... MoreWe bought this as our 20+ yr Vet we been going to (they had took care of our now 5 kitties & 2 puppies & they had recommended SD prescription for 2 others we could only get from them & 2 other kitties we were able to get from pet store) & our Vet had explained to us how to transition over from kitten food to adult food even if same brand/flavor. We accidently bought what we thought was the same kind for our baby boy a few months ago & Colby Jack (CJ) would not eat it & we said it is chicken & SD so called Vet & read the bag to them & then realized it was not INDOOR but more for outdoor as has other stuff in it but most cats will still eat it Vet said u have another picky eater (as our other 4 girls were picky eaters also but the 1st boy wasn't really picky) so we found someone whom did not have picky cats & they feed their cats anything & gave them that & went & bought another SD INDOOR for CJ. He was happy eater again. He also has to have his food shook up before he will eat it even if we take it out of container (we take out of bag & put in lidded container to keep fresh & scoop out into bowl) & at nights we leave some down for him but he still comes to our door a few times & meows for us to get up (won't stop till we get up) & shake it for him to eat. Yes he is spoiled rotten just like his other 4 sisters & brother from other mothers/fathers were before him as they are were/are family!! So we been a happy SD family for at least 13 yrs (different types of course) since our 1st baby girl (Boots)was diagnosed with kidney/liver disease & was put on the prescription for it & helped her live 4+ yrs till Cancer took her (RIP 16 Dec 2011) (same with our 3rd baby girl (Jersey Belle JB) but she had a bladder problem & lived longer with it cause of SD but Cancer took her (RIP 24 Sep 2020) but 1st boy baby (Max gave to a wheelchair bound young boy when he was like 3 yrs old as boy wanted a black kitty that was trained & we had Boots) & 4th baby girl (Diamond Jo DJ) RIP 18 Feb 2020 & now CJ were/are not on prescription SD & can buy at pet stores not just at Vet's!! All their fur was smooth & shiny/no hair balls!!
In the past, I fed my cats common dry food sold in grocery stores and thought the vet-recommended cat foods were too expensive. My cats often had loose stools (bad-smelling too). After losing an awesome siamese cat at only 6 years of age to digestive problems, I decided to try science diet with my new rescue siamese kitten. I noticed a difference immediately - only firm stools with hardly any odors. When I asked my vet about it, he explained that the science diet is digested so effectively that it produces minimal waste. This cat is 5 years old and has only eaten dry kitten and after 1 year indoor science diet. I do not give her any wet catfood or table scraps. Just 1/4 cup twice a day. She has no hairballs, no bad breath, and no tummy troubles. When switching cat foods, mix a little of the new with the old over a one week period, gradually fading out the old catfood. After a month on the science diet exclusively, I think you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was in your cat's health.
