We have an indoor male cat and outdoor female cat that we were feeding 4Health Grain-Free Indoor Cat dry food. Our indoor cat had a spell with bladder crystals and he had to start eating the Hill's Science Diet Prescription C/D Formula. A few months later, the same happened to the outdoor cat. The prescription formula is very expensive, has a strong smell, and the indoor cat doesn't really like it. If i need to spend the extra money on the prescription formula I will, but I researched this formula and found many owners have been in similar situations and had success with avoiding the bladder crystals. Both cats love this formula. It's too early to tell if we will be successful in the bladder department, but so far so good.

It’s supposed to pate but sometimes arrives more in the form of purée, that’s a problem because there’s basically nothing there for the cats to chew, they don’t like the semi soup texture so they leave it there. I don’t appreciate the formula texture change, this stuff is super expensive! $1.43 for the small 2oz. can!!! I’m feeding this because one of my cats has developed kidney issues. DO NOT FEED YOUR CAT DRY FOOD ONLY! You will pay dearly at the Vets., & the animal suffers & your bank account suffers. I try to feed the best but Hills is getting carried away with how much they’re charging for this stuff. I must find a better food at a better price with the same formula texture consistently because I’m losing money here!

We had my three cats on the prescription Royal Canin urinary food for several years after my one cat had a urinary blockage and an emergency surgery. However... the food made them all throw up and my oldest cat actually significantly lost weight because of it so we switched to this. Plus, it was incredibly expensive. We are about 6 months in to this new food and so far it seems much better for not only my wallet but their digestion as well. My older cat can actually keep this down and his bowel movements are better too. He's actual gained weight and is now a normal weight for a 14-year-old, yet, my two others have maintained their weight, so it seems to well-rounded for all caloric needs. My cats love the flavor and it's not too smelly. The reasoning I took off a star is that this last package of food seemed different. It looked and smelled the same, but my cats had some issues digesting it. They all began throwing up again. I'm hoping we just got a bad batch, but seeing from other reviews that they might have changed the formula concerns me, so this isn't a perfect formula. Others have mentioned that the pebbles are big and I agree, but I do not see this as a negative. I prefer the larger size since my cats tend to scarf. This forces them to slow down and actually chew their food. We supplement the dry with the canned wet food version of this as well, so I hope now that it's been several years since my cat has had urine crystals, that this food will be enough to avoid forming more. Between vet recommendations, good reviews from credible websites, and my experience, I trust this brand to deliver a healthy, well-balanced, and delicious kibble for my kittens.

My cat use to be on the prescription version of this food. I decided to give it a try because I couldn’t afford the prescription version anymore at least $20-$30 difference! He seems to be doing really well on the non-prescription version of the food. I compared ingredients of the two and it checked out. It has helped him maintain his UTI flare ups and helped with food cost for me. Love Science Diet brand! I have all my pets on it. Highly recommend!
I adopted a foster cat that had a really tough young life. It took me trying a lot of different cat foods & after cleaning up a lot of hair balls, I finally did some research & spent the money on Hills Science diet. Total turn around!! I got the dry & wet food & started immediately. Within a couple of days I could tell her coat was softer & maybe even a little fuller, which worried me bc she's an inside cat, so I get to clean up her hair balls. To my surprise she LOVES the wet food & isn't picky about the dry food either! I'm completely satisfied with her diet now, we've been through about half a bag of the dry & a can every day of the wet & I think she's a happy girl, FINALLY!! But, I do have one complaint, while the kitty on the front of the bag is gorgeous, it's ... MoreI adopted a foster cat that had a really tough young life. But, I do have one complaint, while the kitty on the front of the bag is gorgeous, it's kinda scary to wake up to in the middle of the night, maybe the sweet kitty repping the company could be a tad bit smaller!! I can only imagine what my cat thinks when she wakes up & sees this starring at her, bc it really startled me lol
I bought this cat food and had it on repeat delivery until I received the first bag....the food is very big and hard as a rock, my boy didn't like it either because of how hard it was. When he'd eat it he stop and only take a few bites and swallow the kibble whole and I stopped giving it to him dry after he choked on it. I started giving it to him wet so the kibble will be soft, he'll eat it but I have to mix other kibble with it because it's watered down. I don't want to waste it so that's why I give it to him like that. I was happy when I first bought this food thinking it will help with hairballs and his urinary tract and it was softer, smaller kibble I would buy it again.
My cat likes this Hills canned hairball urinary moist food after i spend 20 minutes for each meal going through and removing hard and sharp mystery chunks from just that meals portion. The chunks are big and hard also include small and sharp pieces too. Enough to cause digestive issues. The attached picture only shows a few of the mystery chunks i just pulled out for one meal. Buy this knowing that you will spend 20 minutes per meal pulling out mystery chunks so your cat can have a safe meal. I would recommend this product as it works BUT would say it comes with extra work for the caretaker. tHills please remove these mystery chunks from your food so we know our cats can eat safely and be healthy.
Started feeding this to my cat after my vet recommended it to help reduce her lower urinary tract infections. I have been feeding it to her for over a decade until recently. The kibble size has significantly changed. It is much too difficult for my senior kitty to ingest and she won't even try to eat it anymore. You had customers like myself willing to pay high prices for good quality but since the size and consistency has greatly changed I'm scrambling to find a different product.
Buyer of Science Diet for over 30 years (prescription and non). Urinary formula/quality/product recently changed. Similar to other review but different, kibble when eaten crumbles and cats refuse to eat the crumbs. The crumbs are not in the bag. Appears but not certain as if the kibble may be larger so there is more waste when the cat eats. Either that or a quality issue. Don't know. Sadly, will have to search for new product for one of my cats since there is too much waste (especially in light of the cost) unless Science Diet can address this. Can you please provide some insight? What am I missing?
My cat won't eat this at all. I thought it might be because the morsels were too big for them. (I saw that in other reviews.) So, I tried to break them up into smaller morsels by putting them in a ziplock bag and whacking it against the counter a bunch of times. That did nothing. Then I took a hammer to the food. That got me some dust, but definitely no pieces. I gave up and will try to get my cat to eat the Canin urinary control food instead. Other cats may like this, and maybe the toughness makes it better at cleaning their teeth.
