Hillview Tasty Shredded Cheese 700g

Very mild, but convenient with A+ cheese pull. I usually great my own cheese from a block but I have a lot of quesedillas to make this week and opted for this for convenience. The cheese has that slightly dusty texture in the bag which you'd expect from a pre-grated product so i wouldn't recommend this for eating as-is, however once melted it took on a nice gooey texture with a strong cheese pull. Very mild flavour - I recommend combining with other elements with more flavour (eg I added a lot of spices to the veg in my quesedillas to balance out the mildness)This was cheaper than the Woolworths branded tasty so a win for value too.

Great cheese. Very pleased to have tried this shredded tasty cheese. I love that it’s a huge bag. Since I use a lot of cheese this isn’t really a problem for us to consume this relatively quickly. I’m a little alarmed by the message that says consume within seven days as I don’t think I’ve ever done that with other cheeses. another thing that I would like to see on this package is some sort of resealable closing feature mainly to keep the cheese airtight inside the bag. Would be a great improvement. Tasting this delicious cheese it has a mild flavour but definitely flavoursome enough to enjoy on its own or to mix with something else. Blends and melts beautifully adding a glorious flavour. Overall I think this cheese is a very economical and a delicious cheese to have in the fridge. The price is simply unbeatable when can you compare it to some other brands. The one fault I have for this cheese is that the strands are a little bit too long for my liking and I found myself cutting them with scissors for some dishes. It’s for this reason and the not sealable packaging that it had lost a star for me. But it will definitely be frequenting my fridge in the future. I think you should give this one a try bunchees.

Great Cheese. Love this cheese. It's a winner for me. Subtle flavour and taste. Great on pizzas, toasties, sandwiches, etc- the list is endless. This cheese has never let me down, since started using it. As good as the big brands. Either have a packet of the shredded version or the block cheese.

Pretty good and cheapest shredded per kilo. This is okay and is cheaper slightly cheaper than the Woolies Australian Shredded Tasty Cheese but I think for the little bit more I prefer the Woolies Shredded Australian one - hence the 4 rather than 5 stars. If you are on a tight budget than this one is fine but for me a little bit more per kg is worth it for cheese (which is still heaps cheaper than name brand) - my daughter also agreed that it isn't quiet as nice as the Woolies branded one either!

Great product. Was pleased when I received this sample especially the size of the packet. Very versatile. I made a mushroom cannelloni and it melted nicely, plus put on baked potatoes whilst hot. Pity it is made in New Zealand, especially as we have a lot of good cheeses here plus it has quite a high sodium content. It is not bad value $6. 60 for 700g. Would be good value for a family. I would buy it again if I was cooking for a party, but I prefer extra tasty cheese. Thanks for letting me try Woolies

Terrifically Tasty. At $6. 30 for the large 700g bag (or $9. 00 per kilo), this is the cheapest shredded Tasty cheese available at your local Woolies. We really enjoyed the mild and creamy flavour of this wonderful cheese. It wasn't too salty in taste, or too rubbery in texture. I really like the cute packaging. The green pastures and undulating hills depicted on the front of the bag are quite deliberate - they're meant to represent the Hillview brand. I like the clear window at the front of the pack. This tasty product is suitable for Vegetarians. It contains no artificial colours or flavours. It's also a great source of calcium. The pieces of cheese are slightly harder and longer/larger than many other shredded cheeses I've tried before, but this Tasty cheese melts beautifully. It is perfect in pasta bake, or in ham, cheese & tomato toasties. I love the versatility of this yummy cheese. You could use it in nachos, pizza and quesadillas, but I like adding it to pasta or risotto dishes, like Boscaiola, Bolognese, or just a simple pasta and egg creation. We also enjoyed this cheese in some brioche bun hot dogs and Turkish bread sandwiches. This shredded Tasty cheese is made in New Zealand and packed in Australia. I probably would have awarded a locally made product the perfect five stars. Give this versatile shredded Tasty cheese a try, it definitely won't go to waste in your household.

My only quibbles would maybe be for there to be a resealable strip although I use the good old trick of the bend over of the packaging with a piece of sticky tape to wrap in a plastic bag to pop into the freezer which keeps it fresh for many months. Also I would like to see this come in a reduced fat version too as it would be much friendlier for me with my dietary requirements and I could have a cheeky nibble more so often! Although a fresh block of the 1 kilo Hillview tasty cheese is cheaper to buy and grate up to freeze I've been buying this more frequently as I like to spoil myself as it's more convenient. The grated cheese is so versatile to use fresh, melted or within many dishes. From super cheesy melty toasties, cheese on toast, adding to the top of pastry pizzas and many other tasty dishes like bacon and egg cheesy pastries. It's very convenient and tasty indeed!

Great value, great tasting. Love this cheese, it's always in my freezer and always on my shopping list. It's excellent value for money and just as good as the other more expensive brands. A mild and basic cheese flavour with a melted texture that suits many types of dishes. I keep it in the freezer for extra longevity and I use it frequently in quiches, on pasta, in potato bakes, in tuna casserole etc - it's very versatile. It does have a 'dusty' texture and won't be the right cheese for everything (I've never put it on a sandwich or used it in a cheese based sauce that wasn't baked) but for what it costs and the variety of uses, it's great.

Boyfriend made me buy it. My name is Bree. I was always destined to be a cheese lover, right? It wasn't until I met my boyfriend that I realised I wasn't just a cheese lover, but a cheese snob. *embarrassed sigh*The lover is a bit OCD, so familiar brands are a must for him. So with a deep breath and a heart full of love, I purchased this tasty cheese, instead of my normal $9 bag of vintage shred. That trying day was almost 5 years ago and I haven't looked back since. Tastes good, melts well ... and a weird reason to like this cheese, but the grate is a little thicker, which is, really pleasant. Ha. Be brave. Take the leap. Buy this tasty cheese!
