Beautiful picture but dont depend on the wireless

Beautiful picture, love the back light. Useless wireless and thus useless embedded apps and Google home. I have this U6H and a U8G. Only buy this if you plan to use it as a monitor and connect external streaming devices. I use Apple TV 4k gen 3 on HDMI. Both TVs pop up wifi is down every 15-20 minutes but I stream using the Apple TVs and never see an outage in what I am watching when those popups come up. If using the embedded apps in the TV the steaming is dropped and does not recover without help from the hand controller. I would guess lack of buffer and no autorecovery from internet hiccups. Competent but picture quality very average

The picture quality (which ultimately is what matters most) is good but nowhere close to my other Hisense TV which is a 65H9. As such I would say this TV is suitable for a bedroom but not your main viewing room. The 65H9 is brighter, has better contrast and has a native refresh of 120Hz. This TV is stuck at 60Hz and despite 240Hz motion compensation, just isn't as convincing. The picture suffers from mediocre contrast and slightly washed-out color (compared to the H9 series). Whereas with the H9 you could enjoyably watch the TV with the out-of-the-box settings, the U6 truly requires a half hour playing with the picture settings to get a pleasing result. I noticed the motion compensation was turned off by default. After playing with the picture settings, we found a satisfactory compromise between color and contrast. We left the motion compensation turned on because otherwise the TV is hard to watch during action sequences.Overall, in terms of picture quality, I would suggest spending the same, or less, money on a FHD (2K) TV - especially if that TV comes with 120Hz native and better color. But of course, it's all subjective!Where the U6 does win is the menu navigation and especially the settings - these are head-and-shoulders better than the H9. We had no issues getting ApplePlay to work and likewise we were able to quickly change the optical audio output to the format required by our receiver. The navigation speed is also better than our H9 TV which came as a surprise. We will primarily be using a 4K Fire Cube TV but it's good to know the 'Smart' part of this TV is respectable. We do not play games on TV so cannot comment on that capability. Default sound (not using our receiver) was also adequate but not spectacular. So, was it worth what we paid? Well, mostly yes. However, I would recommend you evaluate alongside others in the same price category before buying - go compare the picture quality for yourself. I'm not sure if I would've bought this TV had I done so - unfortunately I was falsely biased by the superb picture on our Hisense 65H9!Anyhow, Best Buy staff did a great job - I picked up the TV the day after Thanksgiving and it was a zoo! However, the staff were helpful, efficient and got me on my way quickly. The packaging was intact, the item brand new (not previously opened) and functionally the TV is perfect. Requires a 200 x 300 wall mount (no surprise).

The TV and picture are good for the price. Overall this isn't a bad TV however there are a few issues.1) So far I'm not a fan of the Google TV experience. Sad to say but I think Amazon's Fire TV platform did this better. Responsiveness is sluggish at times and there's some weird behavior where it tries to open previous episodes instead of the current one on some apps (I suspect there's some weird caching with HULU).2) Customer Support is non-existent. There is no one responding to this. - 2 stars for this.3) Intermittent Wifi connection issues. It's currently not possible to watch an entire episode of anything on any app without it briefly disconnecting. No response from customer service on this. Attempted to reset and also attempted to update the firmware. My best guess at this point is it's not able to smoothly transition between 2.4 & 5.0 but it's just a theory at this point. I probably should have returned but not sure if it's worth the hassle or not. Was hoping customer service would respond and help resolve but nope.

Good picture at a good price (but not great)
4 September 2022

Picture is bright and colorful but occasionally some images seem washed out and the viewing angle is extremely limited (you really need to be seated directly in front of set!). I'm not a big fan of the Google TV powered smart set, and there are some issues with the voice assistant. Menus are obtrusive and there are no options to change opacity or position. Also, the navigation of the menus is not very intuitive and there is no way to immediately exit (you'll need to back out of layers to get back to your show!). It does sound pretty good, and it has good pass through options. It doesn't take too much fidgeting with settings to get a good picture (you can probably use theatre setting and set motion to film and be good to go). Overall, despite some flaws, I am happy with the purchase

Great but not quite as advertised

Prepare to do some heavy lifting when you mount this baby. Unlike our previous Samsungs, this Hisense is primarily of metal manufacture and decidedly hefty. At least rambunctious cats will not be able to tip it over, although the sturdiness of the tabletop supports leaves something to be desired. The Hisense U6H is easy to navigate, once enabled, and unlike the U6G, it does not stretch 480p video to fill the screen. A major plus, that. Color reproduction is outstanding, especially if you are heavily into film or streaming viewing. Subtle color gradations show up well. The only real qualm about streaming video is that if you're watching sporting events, particularly ones involving a great deal of lateral movement, there is some image degradation.Although the Hisense U6H is advertised as having four HDMI inputs (a major selling point), ours came with only *three.* This is a drawback if you have multiple HDMI sources. Although we had planned to add a sound bar, we have nowhere to connect it to the TV. However, if you want more than two HDMI inputs, Hisense is the only game in town. Do I regret this purchase? No,

Great for the price with minor complaints

We've had the Hisense U6H 55" for about 2 months now and so far it's been very good. The picture is exceptional for the price point though we've seen the rare artifact (picture attached) in some darker areas on the screen. Not sure what this anomaly is called but it's where a portion of the screen gets pixilated and loses detail. We've watched a lot on it to put it through it's paces and tried various settings combinations and we've only experienced it twice for a few seconds each time. For the $369 price we paid, I absolutely can't complain! My only wish is that I'd have sprung for the 65". The sound is ok for the price point but a far cry from dynamic. It's a little tinny. Lastly, the viewing angle is a little narrow, even for my small room. That would be my biggest complaint. Too far off center, and the colors, especially faces, start to get washed out and if we're way off center, it's unwatchable. But in the right room relatively centered, it's a terrific viewing experience.

This is our first TV with Google platform and way more user friendly with better content and fuctionality than Roku or Fire in my opinion, especially for Android users.

I’m a little bit surprised by the love for this TV. We have a Panasonic plasma (VT60) in our living room that was top of the line in 2014, and needed a second set for the basement. I figured that 8 years of technology should make the two sets pretty even at this point, even though the Panasonic was $2k new at the time. Boy was I wrong. The Hisense is just AWFUL with motion. We’re talking visible trails across the screen bad. I watched a character walk briskly past on a well filmed HBO show, and I could see 8-10 copies of her head all in a line as she went by. Don’t even think about sports, they are a blurry mess. It’s also quite bad if you’re not directly in front of it- get 4 or 5 feet off center and not only does it wash out, but the image starts to look blocky ...Ā MoreI’m a little bit surprised by the love for this TV. I’d be embarrassed to have a group of people over and make anyone watch it from even a modest angle. This is not a subtle ā€œoh I notice the detailsā€ kind of review. These are flaws that would be obvious to just about anyone who wasn’t coming from something the same or worse. The good is that most of the issues seem much less pronounced on 4K HDR. The bad is that most content is still 1080p, and this set does not upscale it well at all. Will I return it? Probably not. It’s a basement TV that gets limited use, and it’s hard to justify a big price tag for that. Most competitors in the same price range certainly don’t seem to be any better based on reviews. But there is no way I’d make this my primary set… it’s just not very good.

Note: I reviewed the 55" model here, I'm not sure if larger sizes would feature a different panel or similar changes.*Great tv set, as long as you are not expecting something like an LG OLED c1/c2 etc then you should do very well with this set.*Panel - Backlight and brightness are high (not eye searing but plenty bright if you aren't in a directly sunlit room).*Gaming - In Gaming mode, the latency is between 10ms and 15ms from what I read in a professional review of this model. If you aren't familiar with the range of latency and it's effects on gaming, this is the time that it takes input from the player (pretend you push left to move Mario to the left) and the time that the TV or monitor actually displays the action. This is very important for sweaty boys ...Ā MoreNote: I reviewed the 55" model here, I'm not sure if larger sizes would feature a different panel or similar changes.*Great tv set, as long as you are not expecting something like an LG OLED c1/c2 etc then you should do very well with this set.*Panel - Backlight and brightness are high (not eye searing but plenty bright if you aren't in a directly sunlit room).*Gaming - In Gaming mode, the latency is between 10ms and 15ms from what I read in a professional review of this model. If you aren't familiar with the range of latency and it's effects on gaming, this is the time that it takes input from the player (pretend you push left to move Mario to the left) and the time that the TV or monitor actually displays the action. This is very important for sweaty boys playing things like sports games or Call of Duty, where you need every bit of split second reaction speed advantage you can get. Your boyfriend will probably love it. Just don't be sad if you don't see him for awhile after you get him this!*Movies/Streaming - For movies and streaming the TV is not bad. I would personally connect a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S for 4k streaming, or just use like a 4k Roku or Amazon Fire stick or similar. The interface is fine for the built in app store but I prefer to have a dedicated device for that and not use the one in the TV unless it is somehow amazing.Colors are generally good and it has decent HDR (high dynamic resolution) for content that supports it.*Overall verdict - if you can get this one for well under $500 I highly recommend it. At $500 or higher I would have a hard time recommending this over it's more expensive competitors.I saw prices for LG C1 and it was $999 or under. I would trade this for a C1 in a heartbeat, it would be like trading a Ford Focus for a Chevy Camaro. That being said it is also a very good all around use TV and has a little bit for everyone from gamers to just Netflix and Chill-ers, kids and parents and everyone between.I don't think you will be disappointed in this model.

Very good picture but software is frustrating
4 December 2022

Picture looks really great considering the price I got it for on black friday. No complaints in that department. My only issue is that the software on this TV is below par. It has only been 2 weeks and the Google TV interface is already lagging a bit in day to day usage. The TV recceived an update that enabled HomeKit and Airplay from apple devices. This was great and was the only feature the TV was missing to make it an absolute steal for me. Unfortunately my experience with this has been really bad. I set it up and after I turned the TV off and turned it back on the TV would no longer show up in the home app or on the device list for airplay. I tried going to AirPlay settings to fix this issue but now pressing the AirPlay settings menu now just results in a black ...Ā MorePicture looks really great considering the price I got it for on black friday. Extremely dissapointed in this but you get what you pay for I guess. Will probably buy an apple TV 4K to fix these software frustrations down the line.
