I've been a ride-or-die fan of Hokas for a couple years now, as they've been the only shoes I can wear and still be able to function without severe foot pain at the end of the

The upper white mesh body, specifically at the toe, has already scuffed and greyed/blackened - and all I've done is walk the floors in hospitals. I haven't walked into any mud, dirt, spills, nothing! I've made minimal contact with anything but oxygen - so, why is the upper mesh already blackening and greying after only a day or two of wear? I tried cleaning them per care instructions provided by the website, nothing helped - only made things worse. I've only had these shoes for a week at best, and I'm already having to return/exchange them for a different colorway in hopes I don't have the same results like I did with this colorway. I'm so disappointed and heartbroken. My Bondi 7's in all white never scuffed and got dingy this badly and this quickly. Please take this feedback seriously; the colorway was everything I could ever want and more, but how is it functional if it's just gonna get dirty in a minimum of a day after LIGHT WEAR, and not improve with cleaning?... This caused a very bad knee injury when I slid in wet weather. Just keep an eye on this as under the non-slip is just straight foam.I have bought these shoes again, even knowing these flaws. They are comfortable and despite the quality issues I managed to wear them for around 12 months before needing to replace them after the sole broke down. This is 6 months longer than I normally get out of a work shoe. But I will be definitely checking the non-slip sole regularly.... Show more

Had to drop a few stars for serious cosmetic issues
5 March 2024
A few years ago I was introduced to Hoka sneakers and fell madly in love with them. I stand on my feet all day for work, and the previous model of the Bondi 7's that I have worn have been fantastic. I wanted a new brighter color for a change so I ordered my first pair of the Bondi 8's. While the shoe seems as comfortable as all my others in the previous model (I haven't really had a chance to wear them all day yet to know for sure) there are a few cosmetic issues that I absolutely hate about them.I get my shoes in wide so that I can fit my arch support inserts in them comfortably. I also always purchase them half a size larger so that I have plenty of toe room. That preference comes from years of wearing Birkenstocks and letting my feet spread out more. I also always purchase them half a size larger so that I have plenty of toe room. That preference comes from years of wearing Birkenstocks and letting my feet spread out more. The fit seems the same from that aspect. For some reason on this new model they flared out the rubber bottoms in the front so that they look like clown shoes. The wide fit in the shoe itself is exactly the same just for some reason they wanted to change the streamlined look of the previous model and widen the appearance of the rubber underneath the cloth. I really wish they gave you an option of including pictures with the review so I could put my 7's beside my new 8's and you could see what I'm talking about, it's extremely obvious when they're side-by-side.They also shortened the length of the shoelaces by several inches. I lace mine all the way back to the last hole and there's barely enough left over to tie it tight when I put it on. It's not like the shoelaces come in colors that make it easily available to match in a longer length if I wanted to replace them. Maybe Hoka offers that option and I should look into it. I shouldn't have to spend more money for shoelaces that fit though.Because of these two cosmetic issues I'm not sure I would buy another pair of the Bondi 8. I'll wait until the next version comes out, hoping that they'll go back to the more streamlined style and shoelace length of the 7's.... Show more

Life changer experience in the best way. I wore them indoors was heaven , then finally took them outside on trail for brisk 2 mile walk. Although I live in pain and will be having some less invasive procedures (I already have lumbar/sacral disc replacements that 20 yrs old) for 1st time walking even with good posture "didn't worsen my daily pain "and the comfort level was 10! Needless to say immediately wanted to stock up and purchase in event the line changes. The Bondi I have has numbers/letters on the upper side of the sole. I reordered the black with white sole. Big NO! Toe bed narrower and much less cushion, so reordered another again bad fit. All 3 pair have same manufacturers numbers on the upper side sole. I did call customer service, wonderful helpful person, to discuss prior to repurchasing hoping the 1st black was fluke. NOPE uncomfortable. Not tried any of the seasonal and hoping reviewers start comment which shoe and COLOR they purchase to help this company sort out these continued discrepancies. My whole life I loved being on my feet , chose careers or jobs to pay for the schooling ..now no longer a RN or able to work being able to walk comfortably is life changing for me and all these folks commenting... I am so disappointed in my purchase
7 March 2024
I've been wearing Hokas since 2015. I have run and walked thousands of miles in them and have purchased and loved dozens of pairs. So when I recently ordered two pairs of the Bondi 8, I had no reason to think they would be anything other than perfect. But the quality and workmanship of both pairs deviate in critical respects from every other pair of Hokas I've ever purchased. First, neither has the same cushioning of any of my prior pairs. This is true even though all of my old pairs have many miles on them. Second, the Bondi 8's are not as balanced and instead, force my foot into a pronated position. This is unlike any of my other pairs. Third, both pairs hit my ankle bone higher than previous iterations and are stiffer, so that is uncomfortable. This is unlike any of my other pairs. Third, both pairs hit my ankle bone higher than previous iterations and are stiffer, so that is uncomfortable. Fourth, the insoles in one of the two pairs are stiff and seem to curve inward so that they actually cut into my feet. In short, the quality and workmanship are lacking, and I can't tell you how disappointed I am because Hokas have been a mainstay of my life 9 years. I am at a loss as to what I will be able to replace them with. If the problem had been with just one of the two pairs, I would think the lesser quality was an anomaly. But both pairs are flawed and uncomfortable compared to all my other pairs of Hokas. With increasing popularity, is your company cutting corners? Cutting back on quality control? Switching out for less expensive materials? I haven't yet returned them because frankly, doing so takes time and I've been too busy and disappointed to mess with it. But I intend to return both pairs even though what I want more than anything are quality Hokas like those I've worn for almost a decade.... Show more

Impressed after just one run
8 September 2024
I bought these shoes because my brother had suggested them after hearing about issues I was having with my left hip. I made the mistake of thinking more cushion was not for me. I owned a pair of Nike Zoomx foam sneakers that were great, but I often found myself losing my balance at times or my ankles giving out. I do not have strong ankles and thought, less cushion is better because I needed less bounce and more stability. I bought a different pair of shoes with not much cushion and since then I have had terrible left hip pain from running. My brother suggested Hoka and I tried on a couple of different kinds before deciding on the Bondi 8. I hadn't run in 2 full weeks. After purchasing these shoes I ran 3 miles, at a relaxed pace. It was the first time in months I had been able to run without pain or discomfort. I didn't need less cushion I needed different cushion and stability. The other thing I didn't notice until owning these is that I need more plush on top of the shoe because I have rather small bony feet and the top of my foot would ached from tying my shoes tight. I can wear these shoes all day even after a run and still be very comfortable. Honestly, my hip pain would be excruciating after a short run, it made even turning in my sleep difficult. I expected even with the Bondi 8 to experience some hip pain/tightness. I was/am still amazed... no pain and I felt and feel great.... Show more

I Really Wanted To Love This Shoe
26 April 2024
I'm rating this shoe a 2 because of the appearance; the colors are very flattering. But while these Hoka Bondi 8 APPEARED very comfortable, they are making my feet hurt something wicked! The pain in my heals after walking 4 to 5 miles daily is sometimes excruciating. As a RN, I tried my first pair of Hoka, which was the Clifton, at the recommendation of my peers and I absolutely loved them! I wanted a little more cushion, so several of my peers recommended the Hoka Bondi 8. I I purchased two pair before actually wearing them because I just knew that they would be everything that I wanted and more. I thought that it was an adjustment to new shoes and going from an ASICS to a Hoka, so I exercised extreme patience. But after 150 miles of walking, this shoe STILL hurts very bad. I wanted to give them a fair chance, but I think that a month is fair enough. Today, I ordered a pair of Brooks Glycerin to replace this pair of Hoka Bondi 8, and I guess the other pair of Bondi 8 is a total loss. I really should have known better. I walked around Disney World one day in the other Hoka Bondi 8 in January 2024, and the fatigue was unreal! I may try the Clifton again, but at a much later date due to this experience with not one, but two pair of Bondi 8.... Show more

Not the same Bondi 😞
26 September 2024
I am on my feet 5-8 hours all week walking mostly on concrete type floors so I need a good shoe. I found Hoka's several years ago by a recommendation from a nurse that was wearing. Previously, I had wore Nike's, Sketchers, Brooks, etc, which were ok but by the end of the week my feet still hurt. Bondi changed my shoe land foot life, they were cushiony, supportive and my feet generally did not hurt. I have been through 7 pairs over these last few years with no complaint however this last new Bondi paired I ordered is not the same. This new pair is "black" but they are not really black. Additionally, they have started printing a number on the side of the white part of the shoe, why would you do that? I would attach pictures of not only the difference in the black colors but also the numbers on the shoe which take away from the appearance but this review will not let me post pictures.... Show more

Prone to rolling my ankles - love these

I wear these around the house when I know I'll be cleaning and walking significantly too. Prior to this I stuck mainly to high tops because an ER doc suggested it after a particularly bad fall, but I'm definitely getting an outdoor pair soon. I'm just waiting for more shifting sand colors or similar.I love the cushion for walking (but for running I could see how it could feel like trudging through a beach). I love how there's so little chance of me landing wrong. When I trained for triathlons I could ramp up my mileage but toward the end of long runs I'd be most likely to lack focus on my form and twist my ankle, which effectively ended a season or two. I'll definitely look at hoka stability shoes for when I get back into running... Show more
