I found a lot of my pain was from the lace cutting into my ankle and the shoe not being able to flex with my ankle. Tying it on the second has been much more comfortable for me. Now if only hoka would make some styles with a black base color. Hint hint.

Had to exchange the 8D for 7.5D and that took way longer than should have even by your own policy and would've taken even longer had I not called several times because I never received any communication regarding the exchange. Took a month after you guys got my shoes back to get the smaller size.

For me, the best one yet!
11 September 2024

I have been wearing Hoka Bondi since 2015 when recommended by my podiatrist. I loved that shoe for cushioning on my bone-on-bone knee and walking long distances. But, the Bondi started proving too narrow for my feet and I got corns on both feet below and just outside my little toes on both feet (the Birkenstock Gyza probably had more to do with that). So I tried the Gaviota last November 2023 but found they just did not have the cushion the Bondi does even though more room in the toe box and an overall wider shoe. Now I have the Gaviota 5 and the added benefit of more cushion--the perfect match for me. I am 73, walk about 2 miles every day with my dog, go to personal training and exercise class 4 days a week, BUT I have bad knees and bad feet. I always take out the insole and replace with the Powerstep with added metatarsal support and I go up a size in that insole to take up a little more room in the Gaviota. For me, perfection!

I think I would probably try another type of shoe

You have remade this shoe since my last pair. I bought two pairs of the Gaviota 4 and love them. I was very disappointed to learn you had completely remade the shoe when I tried to order more. I normally wear a wide, but because of all of the comments, I decided to get a "B" with, it's a good thing I did because I could never have worn these in a wide. I love the extra cushion in the footbed and around the heel but I hate the way they look on my feet. Though I normally have to buy a wide shoe, I have a narrow heel, these have enough padding in the heel they don't slip when I'm walking up a hill or stairs. The left shoe has a pucker in the toe for some reason, I'm thinking the material wasn't put on quite right because the right shoe does not do that and maybe I ... MoreYou have remade this shoe since my last pair. I really don't understand why you removed the reflective emblem from the back of the show. Reflective shoes are very nice when walking in the dark.

I wish they were better
26 October 2023

I bought these shoes (along with 3 other shoes) in a size 9. The arch of the shoe was oddly placed and dug into my foot in a very painful way. I typically wear an 8.5 regular. The 9.5 was definitely a better fit, and much more comfortable. it gave my toes the wiggle room they needed The stability is great I felt that my foot was supported and had great grip on the floor, However, the frame of the shoe was digging into the arch of my foot. I decided to find a store that sold Hoka brand and try them in-store to see if the other sizes or regular/wide would be better. I tried 9 pairs of shoes from this brand and they all did the same thing. I started to think I was going crazy and maybe my feet were just weird. I recommend if you want to buy this brand that you find a store and try it on and save yourself the hassle of paying hundreds+ of dollars and having to return it. Like I did and play a game of ordering more and returning them. I would not recommend this shoe if you have not tried it before. After trying to see if this was just a few people's issues I have found multiple complaints and Readit threads about this issue.

Not the same as previous Gaviota and not supportive
10 July 2024

This new version of the Gaviota is awful. I had the previous version and loved the support and fit, however, the material ripped (in under a year) and I needed a replacement. By this time, the version of the Gaviota I had was no longer available and I had to choose the new version. The new Gaviota looks very similar to the Bondi. I love the look of the Bondi but it did not support my feet properly. It seems like they took the Bondi and changed the name to Gaviota without adding the support elements needed. The Gaviota is no longer supportive, as it once was, and doesn't have the firm piece of materiel on the inside of the arch (to prevent collapse) as the previous version had. Going through the warranty return was a huge hassle, and customer service was terrible, but I am going to try to get some help. BEWARE if you liked the previous Gaviota version!

awesome gaviota 5's

The Gaviota 5's are my 3rd pair of Hoka's - Clifton, Bondi's and these and I love them all for different reasons. I thought the Clifton's were my favorite but after wearing the Gaviota 5's for a month or so I decided these were my favorites. I was told they have an H frame to make your walking more stable and you can feel it supporting you. They have the wide toe box so your toes have room to wiggle and they do feel cushy. I have an Achilles tendon issue and tight calf muscles on my left leg and foot but these do seem to help a bit and usually about a 1/4 of the way into our walks it doesn't bother me. I was hoping that these shoes would stop the Achilles tendon from hurting all together but that was just wishful thinking. I don't think any shoe will make it go away ... MoreThe Gaviota 5's are my 3rd pair of Hoka's - Clifton, Bondi's and these and I love them all for different reasons. I don't think any shoe will make it go away but these Gaviota 5's sure come close. In the winter I wear tennies more often and for longer periods so I have high hopes for these staying comfortable while wearing them. My only complaint is just a little thing. I do wish Hoka would provide colorful laces to match or contrast with the shoe. The same color as the shoe is sooooo boring! I love colorful shoes and it's getting harder to find those colorful laces. Even if Hoka had them for sale separately it would be nice. but, again, that is just me and has nothing to do with the quality of the shoe. Oh, and the Hoka representatives are fantastic. They seem to be trained well in their shoes and have really helped me pick out what I need. they take their time with you as well. Kudos to Hoka and their representatives!
