The HOKA Gaviota 5 brings comfort and stability to the next level. Soft and comfortable, you will feel like you are walking on clouds in the new Gaviota 5. HOKA re-engineered this stability shoe with an intuitive H-Frame base and wider platform to give you a smooth and stable ride that is perfect for those with flexible arches or who overpronate. The luxury feel continues in the upper with a breathable, creel jacquard upper. A gusseted tongue hugs your foot in place, while the heel pull tab makes it easy to slip on and off. Some of our reviewers did think that this shoe ran a little large in our HOKA Gaviota 5 review, so if you are in between sizes, you may want to consider sizing down. The HOKA Gaviota 5 brings softness and stability to the next level whether you are working on your feet all day or running a marathon.

Had to exchange the 8D for 7.5D and that took way longer than should have even by your own policy and would've taken even longer had I not called several times because I never received any communication regarding the exchange. Took a month after you guys got my shoes back to get the smaller size.

This shoe wasn't my first pick when choosing my first Hokas; I had gotten the Kawana in a 7.5 (1/2 size larger than I normally wear). When I got it and wore them they were just too big so I returned them. I was really disappointed with Hoka because there were no colors in my 7 for that style or basically anything else! Frustrated I began trying other brands. I tried the ON Cloudnova, but there was absolutely no comparison in my opinion to the Hokas. So I kept watching the website and researching the sneakers until finally this sneaker became available again. I moved to the Gaviota 5 as I was looking for a stable, comfortable shoe that kept my ankles in check and boy these deliver. Love them!

Gaviota 5 the Game Changer

I got the evening sky/coral color in 8 wide and these babies are my absolute favorite pair of shoes I've ever put on my feet. I have two pair of Bondi 8, two speed gates (I wish any of the goretex came in wide but they don't) and a pair of Clifton's in wide. I haven't tried the Bondi 8 in wide yet but will at some point. These shoes are so comfortable, roomie and just give my feet a nice hug. Everything is cushioned where it needs to be since these are plush. I wore them for 8 hours today walking on and off most of the day and for the first time in decades my feet aren't sore anywhere.I have inherited bunions on both feet from my grandma and boy oh boy my right foot usually always aches because of the ol bunion. I'm so impressed with how durable and comfortable they are. I love the colors and I just really appreciate Hoka shoes. I will definitely buy more in different colors.I walked on concrete, wood surface, gravel and dirt today with some surfaces wet. They don't slip at all. Sometimes even with bunions wide shoes are too wide for me, these aren't. They are just perfect for my issues. Hope this helps.

Hoka is my No. One One
28 December 2023

I bought Gaviotas years ago after being introduced to them in a shoe store. After ten years of walks and gym workouts, they are still usable except for the vinyl side vents that are peeling off. Gluing them did not work. Last year I started a new hotel job where I am on my feet, walking up and down stairs constantly. My 60+ year old knees make that difficult. So after a painful trial period of trying other brands, I ordered Gaviotas again and was very pleasantly surprised! I have weird feet that are narrow in the heel and wide across the toes. The Gaviota wide toe box is why I went with them in the first place. I was delighted to find that the new model has an even wider toe box than before. So no more bunions and cramping from squashed toes! Love the mesh fabric ... MoreI bought Gaviotas years ago after being introduced to them in a shoe store. Love the Blue/Evening Sky, it matches my uniform and adds a pop of color -- not too boringly navy blue. I have tried all kinds/brands, and they are the ONLY shoes in 50+ years of working and playing that I can wear without killing my feet. I did add some arthritis innersoles that add to cushioning and stability and make the foot bed more shallow in the heel so the sides do not irritate my ankles. My only negative is that the bottoms were slippery on smooth, wet surfaces, but this has gradually decreased over time. I highly recommend them!

I am so disappointed with my new Gaviota5
1 June 2024

Since I've had both my knees replaced, I basically use my shoes for mostly for walking and in the gym. Sometimes I walk 3-5 miles daily and pride myself in having my shoes to compliment my outfit. I have been a long time fan of Hokas and have introduced them to many of my friends. I have purchased well over 15 different pairs for myself, both women and men versions. I started out with the Bondi and then I later discovered the Arahi, the Clifton's and really fell in love with Gaviotas because they seem to work best for me with both of my total knee replacements and flat feet. They were fantastic especially during my water aerobics, our hikes and my everyday walking during our trip to Hawaii. However, after being disappointed after my last Bondi purchase, I just purchased the Gaviota 5 which I will have to return also because the new makeovers does not feel the same either. The toe box is much too wide and the arch area is cut weird and it hurts. The new style not only is big in the toe box but it makes your foot look so much bigger than they really are. I am so disappointed and I have to return this one too as I did with that new Bondi. Please bring the old style back. I feel they were so much better and more comfortable. I'm a bit afraid to order another pair for fear it will not fit and I will have too return it too.

I think I would probably try another type of shoe

You have remade this shoe since my last pair. I bought two pairs of the Gaviota 4 and love them. I was very disappointed to learn you had completely remade the shoe when I tried to order more. I normally wear a wide, but because of all of the comments, I decided to get a "B" with, it's a good thing I did because I could never have worn these in a wide. I love the extra cushion in the footbed and around the heel but I hate the way they look on my feet. Though I normally have to buy a wide shoe, I have a narrow heel, these have enough padding in the heel they don't slip when I'm walking up a hill or stairs. The left shoe has a pucker in the toe for some reason, I'm thinking the material wasn't put on quite right because the right shoe does not do that and maybe I ... MoreYou have remade this shoe since my last pair. I really don't understand why you removed the reflective emblem from the back of the show. Reflective shoes are very nice when walking in the dark.

I wish they were better

I bought these shoes (along with 3 other shoes) in a size 9. The arch of the shoe was oddly placed and dug into my foot in a very painful way. I typically wear an 8.5 regular. Like I did and play a game of ordering more and returning them. I would not recommend this shoe if you have not tried it before. After trying to see if this was just a few people's issues I have found multiple complaints and Readit threads about this issue.

Not the same as previous Gaviota and not supportive
10 July 2024

This new version of the Gaviota is awful. I had the previous version and loved the support and fit, however, the material ripped (in under a year) and I needed a replacement. By this time, the version of the Gaviota I had was no longer available and I had to choose the new version. The new Gaviota looks very similar to the Bondi. I love the look of the Bondi but it did not support my feet properly. It seems like they took the Bondi and changed the name to Gaviota without adding the support elements needed. The Gaviota is no longer supportive, as it once was, and doesn't have the firm piece of materiel on the inside of the arch (to prevent collapse) as the previous version had. I had my mother and friend try the shoes as well and they had the same complaint that it dug into their arch. I recommend if you want to buy this brand that you find a store and try it on and save yourself the hassle of paying hundreds+ of dollars and having to return it. Like I did and play a game of ordering more and returning them. I would not recommend this shoe if you have not tried this brand before. After trying to see if this was just a few people's issues I have found multiple complaints and Readit threads about this issue.
