Be a trailblazer in the HOKA Speedgoat 5. With more traction and less weight, the HOKA Speedgoat 5 has been redesigned to take on the trails with ease. HOKA added Vibramreg Megagrip with Traction Lugs to give you more grip, particularly on loose soil and dirt. The redesigned placement gives you more lugs in the heel and toe area to provide more durability and help you handle slippery or uneven terrain. HOKA also re-engineered the midsole compound and made it lighter so the Speedgoat 5 gives you HOKArsquos signature soft marshmallow ride through the trails. A late-stage meta-rocker helps roll you through your gaitmdashmaking mountain climbs easier and allowing you to barrel downhill for a smooth and propulsive ride. The upper of the Speedgoat 5 features a stretchy double jacquard mesh to give you the confidence to take on the trails. It improves both the comfort and durability of the shoe. Our reviewers loved the more lock-down fit that the new upper gave them in our HOKA Speedgoat 5 review. There is a protective toe rand that gives extra protection against rocks and trail debris. Plus, HOKA re-designed the heel counter, giving it an extended heel tab to make it easier to pull on and prevent any rubbing at the Achilles. The HOKA Speedgoat 5 gives you the cushion and grip to make it one of the best trail shoes for your next adventure.

Amazingly comfortable! Walking on a cloud

I finally got on the Hoka train, now I see what all the hype is about. These shoes are soooooo comfortable! I am an avid walker and hiker, I walk 5-7 miles everyday and I'm so
excited that I made the change to these shoes! The sole is so comfortable, like walking on a cloud. And I love the material at the shoe is made out of, it's like a comfortable
glove for my foot. Super breathable. Not great in cold weather temps as it's not windproof or waterproof, but I think they have other shoes with those features. My only hope is
that they last a long time. They're super pricy and from what I hear rarely or never go on sale. I'm in my 40s now and have a good job so I don't mind dropping $... Show more

Really too bad as the shoe was very comfortable but given that it has fallen apart at 400k I just think it is worth the relatively high cost compared to other brands.... Show more

I think it would add stability and a hint of extra comfort.Compared to my Speedgoat 4s, the fit is extremely similar. With my Speedgoat 4s, I did have an issue with dirt and small rocks getting into the sneaker, so for the first time ever I started wearing low gaitors with my trail runners. But somehow, with the 5s, I haven't had the same issue.Works for me!... Show more

Bring back Speedgoat 4
29 May 2023
I’ll start by saying that I absolutely LOVE Hoka Speedgoats, and I’ve worn many pairs over the years. The shoes I wore for my 2021 Pacific Crest Trail thru hike were the Hoka Speedgoat 4. With the updates to the Speedgoat 5, however, Hoka definitely missed the mark. The shoe has a narrower fit, especially in the toe box, which caused several blisters on just a one-night 22-mile backpacking trip (even wearing my correct size). The heel fits strangely, which also caused giant blisters. And the tongue of the shoe dug in to the top of my foot and broke the skin. Unfortunately, I had to return my Speedgoat 5s to REI. Hoka, please widen the fit and make adjustments to the Speedgoat 6 so that it fits more like the 4.... Show more

Comfortable but fail in durability.
29 June 2023
In 2022 I wore my first pair of Hoka .. Speedgoat 4 for Camino Frances walked 520 miles. I was so impressed .. not one blister, so very comfortable and still intact as of today. As a result I decided to wear Hoka Speedgoat 5 for Camino Costa Rica last May for 160 miles. While my Speedgoat 5 are almost as comfortable and again no blister, they started to fall apart at end of the walk. The treads are noticeable worn down and seams in front and back started to split open. I tried to return my shoes back to REI but they denied my request. Reason was that according to their wear and tear policy they won't be able to resell my shoes to other buyers. Comfortable, but the tread does not hold up.
22 September 2023
I will start by saying I did not get a single blister and for that I am beyond grateful! I bought these to hike the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. It was a 500 mile pilgrimage. But by day 7, the soles of my shoes were just worn/gone. I was literally in the middle of nowhere and told my family about it. My daughter spent 3 hours trying to contact Hoka, and their customer service person pretty much said, "So what?" Then told her to return them REI, bc REI has an excellent return policy. THat's nice, but WHY should REI have to eat the cost of these shoes that within 10 days had list almost all its tread? Unfortunately every time I was in a "bigger" city, I either got there after the stores closed or on a Sunday, so I did have to use these sneakers for all 500 miles. ... MoreI will start by saying I did not get a single blister and for that I am beyond grateful! Good shoe, but very short-lived

I don't write product reviews very often, but specifically logged in just so I could review this shoe. The Speedgoat is an excellent shoe and served me well for ~70 miles of backpacking through Washington on my latest trip. No blisters, no pain, great traction and great support. BUT after these 70 miles, it feels like this shoe is literally already falling apart. Already!! The bottom foam is starting shred and peel off. The traction looks disproportionately worn out. These shoes look like I have used them for years. I am aware trail runners don't have excellent longevity but I literally bought these less than 30 days ago and it already looks like it needs to be replaced. This shoe is way too expensive to only last one hike. Love these!!
9 May 2023
I absolutely love these running shoes for walking on the trails. This winter I ordered the speedgoat 5 mid GTX boot and had to go with the men’s 8.5 since the women’s 9.5 was just a little too small and the 10 was way too big. Loved them so much I decided to order the low model for summer. So for these I decided to try the 9.5 wide which are perfect (I do not have a wide foot) the fit is exactly like the men’s regular 8.5. They are so comfortable, light and plush. Feels like walking on marshmallows. My bad knees are happy. This is my first year of trying hokas and so far I’m really liking the feel of these although I did notice when I went shopping with them and was standing still in one position for a long time, my feet started to hurt. I absolutely love the colour which is exactly like pictured and get lots of compliments. Some reviews complain on the thin tongue, but I actually really like it as there’s no digging in, which can sometimes cause pain. For comparison, I have the Arc’teryx Aerios FL shoe and the speedgoats 5 are way more comfortable and cost less. Can’t wait to heal my rib injury so I can start running in these!! I’m now a hoka fan!!😁... Show more

My Holy Grail trail shoes
20 January 2023
I have been wearing Hoka for a few years. The Speedgoat 5 is one of the best styles Hoka has to offer. The tread grips slippery rocks and sand while not too stiff while running. I will be in a full run down uneven trails and these shoes are agile, supportive and stable. The Speedgoat 5s r a clear upgrade from the 4 (thank u Hoka). My only reason to take off a star is longevity. The support / material under ball of foot starts breaking down at around 100 miles, which isn’t great for an advertised running shoe over $150. I have recommended this style to several fellow hikers (who do slightly less mileage, and all love the speedgoat 5.... Show more

Well-constructed, comfortable shoe. Great colors.
30 June 2023
The shoes fit true to size. The toe box is on the wider size, which is one of the reasons I chose this model. This is my third pair of speedgoats - I continue to replace them over years as I wear down the soles, because they are more comfortable for me than any other shoe. I wear them with an insert specific to my foot shape and weight balance, but they are comfortable without the insert, too. The tongue and laces are well-designed, eliminating the pressure points common with other shoes. The shoes breathe well, though your feet may still get hot if hiking/walking for extended periods in hot weather. I purchased this pair in the mint & purple option and I absolutely love the color! It is even better in person.... Show more
