Amazing shoe but has some faults...
This is my first HOKA shoe outside of the Clifton line-up so I am mostly comparing the sizing/fit to those. At first try, the shoe is easy to put on and lace. I opted to keep the quick-cinch laces and love them. The mid foot region and toe-box is quite narrow compared to my Cliftons of the same shoe size so hopefully they wear in with continued use (~2.5 weeks in, still tight). I mainly got these because they are water-resistant and my walking commute to the hospital can be wet and rainy as well as never knowing what fluid can get on my shoes in the hospital. The shoe is firm, but comfortable with all day use. I am on my feet all day and have not had issues with foot pain as some other reviewers say. The shoes are quick and responsive. The shoe is firm, but comfortable with all day use. I am on my feet all day and have not had issues with foot pain as some other reviewers say. The shoes are quick and responsive. The grip is ideal in the hospital. However, since they are water-resistant, my feet get quite hot and sweat to the point that the insole develops a loud squeak with each step towards the end of each day. This only occurs after several hours of wearing them but is quite annoying and almost embarrassing. I tried sprinkling powder under the insole as HOKA suggests, but this is only a temporary fix (1-2 days). I absolutely love the shoe for its look and function, but gave it 3 stars due to the narrow toe-box (-1) and the loud, embarrassing squeak at the end of the day (-1). This might be a product/material failure. I will keep the shoe despite everyone hearing me walking from a mile away at the end of each day. Hopefully HOKA an fix this issue in future models.... Comfy. Plenty of walking with Transports
I love the Transport! I am thrilled you brought back the toggle chord; it was the first pair of Hokas I owner, several years ago. O prefer them over laces. Also, i am switching from womens to mens, as I think a wide womens would be too wide. The men's shoe is just right, like Goldilocks. Mens shoes also gave better variety of colors (suggestion-offer the same colors for both m&w).I wanted 18,000+ steps on Thursday, 10k steps on Friday & Sunday. New Yorkers do love to walk. They are not as plush & cushy s the Bondi, but I have to say this has been the most comfortable Hoka's Ive bought, & i have bought about 7 or 8, over time.... Show more

Disappointed
I was very excited for the release of this shoe. I have always wanted Hoka to create a shoe that looked great and can perform both in city and on the trail. I have always used my Speedgoats for that purpose, but they always looked too aggressive for some occasions and I would wear them out quickly. The Transport seemed to check all of the boxes in the way of style, sustainability, materials, and purpose, but came up short on my first 7 mile city walk. They are said to be Neutral/Balanced which is the same as the Speedgoat, but do not feel anywhere close to the same amount of cushion. I did not find the Transport to have the signature Hoka cushion that we all know and love at all. Instead, they literally hurt my feet. There is something in the midsole right in front ... There is something in the midsole right in front of heel and in between the arch that felt like a lump on every step to the point that my left foot felt bruised for a couple of days after. On top of that, my sweat left weird splotchy stains on the Cordura fabric. I wear thin merino socks and don't have overly sweaty feet, so I would say this is a material fail. Unfortunately, I had to return them and will probably just buy another pair of Speedgoats for my adventure travel. Hopefully the Transport will work for other people or get better over time.... Good but a little heavier than I expected
I purchased these shoes to walk my dog every morning as the season was changing to spring. Generally I am very happy with them, as they have been great out of the box. I did experience the slight squeaking for the first day or so, but that has stopped as the rubber has become worn. I love the quick lace convenience and the shoes are a great combination of support and comfort for all day on your feet, my only criticisms would be (a) the uppers are heavier than I expected for a transitional shoe, and (b) as I've seen in other reviews, the pictures make these black shoes look like they are a combination of black shades, but in fact they are just BLACK. Not necessarily a problem, but it does make them look a little like the sort of shoes worn by police officers and ... Good so far!
I haven't fully broken these in yet but so far they are pretty comfortable. Fit is as expected. I ordered my regular shoe size and the fit is comfortable, not performance. The cutaway on the upper rubs the bottom of my outside ankle very slightly when walking on uneven surfaces, but I believe as the upper breaks in a bit it will become more flexible. It isn't painful, but it's noticeable.Other than that, I love the look and I've already gotten some compliments on them. The elastic laces are awesome and they're a breeze to put on and take off. The shoes come with regular laces in the box as well if that is more your thing.Too early to tell how durable they will be but first impression is good.... Show more

Great commuter shoe that will handle some abuse
Used this shoe for a two week trip which involved a lot of airports and train stations, averaged about 8 miles a day on foot. I wasn't sure about the lace system but am happy with it after getting used to them, but with that said regular laces are included if the bungee cord thing isn't your style. My only other worry was breathability which I'm sad to say really doesn't exist in this shoe (hence the 4 stars) - as they aren't really water resistant this is an unfortunate down side.Other comments - I got these in grey, the darker color in the heel is more grey than blue as it looks in the pictures on the website. The lighter grey at the front of the shoe gets dirty easily and it shows. The soles are vibram brand, I'm really happy with the grip and the level of wear ... Like the shoe, love black, but too hot
I love the all black hoka shoes, I own a few pairs of the speedgoat 5 shoes and other shoes, and I'm converted. I was looking for the same speedgoat 5 shoes in all black, which they don't have, only the GTX version. I don't need GTX, so I just ordered this pair thinking they would work for every day walking, business, work, etc., but I was in them for a few hours, and they are way too hot. I had to change back to my hokas that weren't hot. They were not GTX version. The fit was not great, but the other hoka shoes I wear fit much more comfortably. These don't feel comfortable like my others. I hope they get a speedgoat 5 in all black that is NON GTX, low-top like my other shoes. Others it appears have good experience here, so if it's comfortable for you, go for it. I ... Love the shoe, but let's make the mid/outsole in white
I've tried the 3 color ways of the Transport shoe and for me having the contrasting white sole was the better look. While I can see the black on black being a choice for the travel world, the all gray seemed to old for my taste. If the black had a white sole it would have been a done deal. I settled on the All Gender model (having the gum accent color was a nice touch). Looking forward to seeing if the contrasting sole shows up in the future. These make great everyday shoes. I love the color of my other Hoka (trail, hiking, running shoes/boots) and like the more sedate options which the Transport brings. Shoes a great in comfort -the squeaking does go away after a slight break-in period. Bravo to the folks at Hoka.... Show more

Phenomenal cushioning in a bulky shoe
First, I'm not a runner, unless I'm playing basketball, but I do enjoy wearing running shoes for work. I'm on my feet the majority of the day, sometimes standing for hours at a time as a surgeon. These shoes have the well-earned Hoka reputation of exceptional cushioning in the sole. They are fantastic for walking and standing. However, they are bulkier than I expected. The material is thicker and less well ventilated than I expected which makes it wear hotter than what I am used to in my other running shoes and doesn't have the sleeker look I usually prefer. Overall a good shoe, especially if looking for comfort over style or ventilation.... Show more

Very comfortable for walking
I walk 5-7 miles a day and finding a sneaker that can hold up to that with cushion is hard. I found these hokas made for walking and not running. The soles will hold up much better with actual treads. The picture on the site is deceiving though. I bought the avocado and expected some variation to the color of the green fabric and a white bottom rim. The fabric is a pretty flat green and the rubber is actually very much grey. I'm happy with them but would like some of the more fun hoka color ways I'm used to before I buy another pair. I also can't figure out how to change the laces to the regular ties from the elastic....
