Comfy but not durable at all!

I originally was very happy with these shoes. They fit my feet great, had the perfect balance between trail-feel and cushion (I usually find Hokas to have too much cushion for
my liking) and required basically no break-in time. They were everything I wanted in a trail shoe and I thought I would be coming back for them season after season.
However, I soon discovered that they severely lack in durability. The material that the soles are made of is a very light, but a very soft foam. After a week of running I was able
to pull off ragged chunks around the edges of the sole. Now 6 months in (running/hiking perhaps 2 miles 5 days a week in them), the traction nubs have complet... Show more

My orthopedic surgeon recommended Hoka's, as both my feet were severely fractured in a car accident. I struggle with balance and confident footing and we live in Rocky
Mountain terrain with steep inclines around our log home. These shoes definitely have given me back better balance and footing in our yard. My only complaint is my feet are
sore after 2-3 hours wearing. The stiffer traction "bumps" start hurting foot soles. Will try some gel inserts to provide more cushioning; multiple surgeries & screws make
these a little too stiff for longer wearing that I was hoping for. I do highly recommend for traction and balance, however. HOKA wish you had shoes in more subtl... Show more

I will be returning them and getting a different shoe. All in all they are a comfortable shoe, and would be great for walking or doing mild runs on plain dirt or gravel. But they fall apart pretty quickly and are not worth the money if you want a pair of shoes that will last you a year.A note on sizing: Hokas tend to run a half size large for me; I usually wear W8.5 but bought a W8.... I was worried the toe box wouldn't accommodate my bunions, as I have read Hoka's run narrow, but these fit me PERFECTLY. Also worth mentioning, I do not have wide feet, actually a narrow heel and foot, just the darn bunions and toes that need a bit more room. These shoes needed no break in period. Wore them right out of the box. Happy feet.... Show more

Love hoka

If you're young, start wearing these sneakers, so when you're an old 60 year old like me, you will have better feet. Also walk longer dnt run. Running catches up to you n I regret that I never listened to anyone. By far these sneakers are mad cool n comfortable. I wish they had better colors. I love my dark blue w solid green soles. Bt a lot of the colors r ugly. Way too much neon. Other than that, you won't find better sneakers.... Show more

My favorite hybrid
5 March 2023
I'm a trail runner in WA State which means trails are slick and muddy most of the winter. The traction is great on these but they also do good on roads and for speed work. I have relatively normal/thin width feet which tends to work well with Hoka. My husband has wide feet and doesn't love these. These are a great step down from the Speed goats but still enough padding under your feet for rocks or long distance pains.... Show more

Perfect for warm weather hiking
4 October 2022
I hike around 15 miles a week and only wear trail runners for warm weather hiking. I must have tried 15 different trail running shoes from a number of brands and finally found the pair for me, Hoka's Torrent 2. Fit is perfect with just enough cushioning so I can feel what's under foot. I hike on more technical trails ands a responsive shoe is important to avoid ankle rolls. I tried the Speedgoat 5 and hated it. Much too much cushioning that threw off my gait and caused me to over pronate. But the Torrent 2 is just right. Liked them so much but ordered a second pair in Castlerock. I highly recommend this shoe for those who hike on technical trails.... Show more

Roomy
28 November 2022
Comfortable. Lightweight. Great laces. I'm solidly a size 9 in most shoe brands and I chose a 9 for my new Hokas. The sneakers are roomy. If your feet swell when you run, the Hokas accommodate it. If you are buying sneakers for walking or other fitness where your feet will not swell, I would recommend trying on a size a half step down in a store if you can. I will stick with the 9s that I got as I do love them but the next time I can try on a pair at 8.5 I will. They're a little roomier than I would ideally like but they are still very comfortable.... Sticky soles, nice flex, but too much feedback
20 June 2020
Bought these to replace my old Teva Arrowwood 2 leather trail shoes. The Tevas have been great, but they lack any real cushion which, if I could ever find it in another shoe, I would go for. I thought with the Hoka Torrent 2s, and Hoka's rep for maximal cushion, these would be that shoe. I just got a pair of the Bondi 6s, and THEY are phenomenal and live up to the hype. These Torrents, however, are not working for me. I think that Hoka, by listing as "responsive" actually means that you WILL feel plenty of trail feedback. Unfortunately, that feedback is very strong in this shoe (for me), too strong. I got done with a normal trail hike this morning, not even running, and now my knees hurt which they never did even with the old Tevas. They are beautiful shoes, but I think I'm going to trade them in for the Stinson ATR 5s as they look as if they will provide more of the real cushion I need.About the Torrent fit: The medium width is plenty roomy (I have a wide forefoot) and they feel stable and light. The lugs are super sticky, as promised, so you will not slide around even on slick rock surfaces.Bottom line: If you want a light-weight, sticky, thinner trail shoe that will give you LOTS of feedback, this might work for you.... This is my third pair
6 January 2023
I run on a variety of trail surfaces from smooth to very technical (rocky/rooty). I bought my first pair of Torrent 2s after my old tried and true shoe (a different brand) started hurting my feet and blackening my middle toes. I tried on several Hoka trail models, but liked the fit and feel of the Torrents best. They're very lightweight, come in a variety of great colors, and they fit well. Enough room in the forefoot, but not too much. So far I really love these!... Show more

Yes, you should buy these shoes
12 July 2021
I bought these shoes with no intention of ever running in them, I don’t run, but I needed something a bit more gentle on the feet than standard hiking shoes. I have those. Even with inserts they leave my feet, knees, and hips screaming after a hike. At the urging of one of the female employees who also does a lot of hiking in these, I bought them. I broke them in on a 10 miler today, on relatively flat, somewhat gravelly terrain. It was hot, and I was trying to get as much time in moving as I could before it stormed, so I just went to a nice section of the GAP by me and set off. The shoes were immediately comfortable, and I have no blisters at all. The true test though is that I ran in them. Did I already say I don’t run? I get my cardio in other ways…but I had to ... MoreI bought these shoes with no intention of ever running in them, I don’t run, but I needed something a bit more gentle on the feet than standard hiking shoes. I get my cardio in other ways…but I had to run the last 2 miles of my little trek since those beautiful blue skies started to get a bit threatening, and my weather app started sending out lightning alerts. And even after running back to my car….world’s most overstuffed fanny pack annoying the heck out of me the entire time….my feet, knees, and hips don’t hurt. I’m amazed.... Show more
