Hoka Ora Recovery 3 Flip Flops Matte Light Blue - 41(1/3)

Only issue is that the design has a lip on the back of the heel, which seems to me to make it not a true slide. What is the point of it? In the smaller size I ordered, my heel kept hitting the lip -- irritating, and the front part has an edge also that my toes hit when I slid up to try to avoid the back lip. The front and back edges come up but don't actually make a shoe that would stay on your foot like a shoe. They still flop like a flip flop slide a little and your heel is coming up when you walk and so the back lip is the big annoyance. When I tried the larger of the two sizes I ordered, it was way larger. Longer, so I'm not hitting the lip in the front or back of the shoe, but the strap across the top is way looser, which doesn't make sense. A size 8 foot isn't significantly higher or fatter than a size 7 foot! Maybe it's because this is for men also? idk. Oh, well. I'm keeping the 8 and returning the 7. I am a 7-1/2 but wear 8's in flip flops and slides so I expected the 8 to fit fine or the 7 to fit if the 8 was too large. Guess there is a really big size difference in these. Anyway, what I do like about them is they are still comfy and cushy like the Oofos slides but have a little firmer structure underneath and way better tread, so they're not as easy to fall out of or have the front toe fold under etc. If they'd just remove the dumb lip and not have a huge size gap, these would be perfect.

Fix it! The updated unisex style is awful!

Our family has been extremely disappointed by the switch to the unisex version of the Hoka Ora 3 Recovery Slides since last year. These slides were the only shows that brought relief to my foot pain, and when they switched from offering wide to only unisex sizing, it made the slides ill fitting. It is too narrow for a male or woman with a wide foot. The slide also comes up really high in the back area now. I’d guess the back area cupping/heightening was to increase support and enhance the look, but it took away from functionality. The first version of the 3, I could wear no show/low socks with no problem, now the increased height in the back of the heel and more narrow design, result in my pricey very effective low/no show socks with grippers in the heal to be ... MoreOur family has been extremely disappointed by the switch to the unisex version of the Hoka Ora 3 Recovery Slides since last year. I stopped recommending them to people after the change. Please FIX IT!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Very disappointed in Hoka's current recovery slide because I have an earlier version of this slide (it's about 2-3 years old) that fits and feels way better than the new version. The new version is not as comfortable - it is not as wide as the previous model, and there is a little ridge on the back of the heel (which you can see in the profile of the shoe that is pictured in their ads) that is uncomfortable. The old version of this shoe did not have that ridge, it was wider, and its slits went horizontally across the shoe; the horizontal slits make more sense because they are laying across the top in the same the way your foot bends when you walk. This is just another example of a company changing a product that had absolutely nothing wrong with it, and typically ... MoreVery disappointed in Hoka's current recovery slide because I have an earlier version of this slide (it's about 2-3 years old) that fits and feels way better than the new version. I'm bummed about this because a podiatrist recommended these shoes for a nerve problem, and so I'm going to have to find something similar by another company. My bottom line is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Hoka tried to fix something that wasn't broken.

Literally A Life Changer

These slides have given me my mobility back (I know, crazy, right!?). I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees that is badly aggravated by fallen arches and overpronation. Even after surgeries and physical therapy, being on my feet for any amount of time was a struggle, the pain in my knees was debilitating. I had tried several other expensive "ortho" shoe brands to no avail. I slowly gave up the things I love...baking (the standing killed my knees!), running, golf...even everyday tasks would put me on the couch; I was miserable. I ordered a pair of Ora3 slides on suggestion from my orthopedic surgeon, to have a quick comfy shoe after a recent knee surgery. I never imagined I'd get my life back the day they arrived. Since about two days after wearing them consistently, my knee pain decreased EXPONENTIALLY. Sure, some days I still have aches, but I can be up, around and living again!! I can walk the local track, the golf course, go shopping, do activities with my 13 year old...HOKA handed me my life back and I am so grateful. My doctor was even floored at the difference! I've since ordered a pair of Stinsons and am so excited for them to arrive!! Thank you, HOKA, for all you put into making a phenomenal shoe!!

Perfect for foot injury

I burned my feet badly in a house fire and couldn't put socks or shoes on for the first 3 months of this year. I have the previous version in 2 different colorways and these in the light blue. These are different but I wouldn't say better or worse than the older ones except for the bottom seems to be wearing faster than the older pairs. I alternated between the 3 from Jan 1 to the end of March and the newer versions show less creasing of the foam but more wear on the bottom. The little micro texture on the bottom has rubbed off in a few spots on the 3s and hasn't on the 2s.The older sizes seemed closer too, I wore a 13 in the 2s and 13s in these are much bigger. I can still manage but it took a couple days of figuring out how to change my gate so the 3s don't fly ... MoreI burned my feet badly in a house fire and couldn't put socks or shoes on for the first 3 months of this year. I can still manage but it took a couple days of figuring out how to change my gate so the 3s don't fly off while walking. I can run full speed in the 2s, that rocker and the toe off suit my feet perfectly, these are a different experience but as I said, I like these an equal amount as the 2 versions. I shouldn't be sprinting in slides anyways.I find the foam touching my feet slightly softer but the frame around the edge on these is different than the previous version, really noticeably the heel is more sunk in and I don't feel quite as much squish under the heel as 2nd versions but more squish under rest of the foot and toes.I wish they kept the 2 design around, I never knew I wanted to run in sandals until the 2s.I wear these all the time for everything now. I have flat feet and both versions can get some odor problems, the foot bed doesn't breath well, that's my only complaint.I am still trying to figure out what "air channels" are that they mention as a change in these. The tread is deeper in the 3s so guessing it's something with that but I can't count 4 of anything. Maybe they will explain it on here.

Recovery, indeed

I recently purchased a pair of the recovery slides while on vacation. I encountered a sesamoiditis flare up earlier in the week which made walking difficult and slow (IYKYK) so I visited a shoe store nearby to see what was available (note: I am usually only able to wear my Asics nimbus shoes when I have a flare up, but even then there is a slight level of discomfort for a period of time). I happened to see the slides at the shoe store and tried them on. My true foot size is an 8.5 but I can wear 8 or 9 depending on the shoe/style. I tried on the 8 and 9 but ended up buying the 8 as it felt more secure on my feet while walking around the store. It only took a few minutes wearing them for my pain to be significantly reduced. By the end of the evening (~2-3 hours in) my pain was gone. Normally, it takes several days to a week (or two) for the pain to fully subside when I have a flare up. This slide redistributed my weight throughout my foot in a way that the ball of my foot was able to rest even though I was walking. These slides saved my feet! Thank you, Hoka!

Sizing in reality designed for men, not women

I have now ordered five Hoka Ora recovery sandals in an effort to find a pair that will fit me properly. I originally ordered an Ora Recovery and a Luxe Recovery (adjustable) pair in size 10 from another company, and I looked like a child clomping around in her father’s shoes - that’s how oversized they were. LLBean’s were advertised as women’s Ora recovery sandals, but in reality they’re also sized for men and women. Consequently, if you go by the size you wear in Hoka shoes, you might find these to be absolutely huge. I take a 10/10.5 wide in a Hoka Bondi 8, but neither the 10 nor the 9 in the Ora recovery sandal fits. In fact, my feet are swimming in the size 9 sandals, so I’ve just ordered the size 8. However, I keep trying because the cushioning feels amazing! If the sandals were adjustable, I probably could have managed with a 9; however, I would walk right out of them as they were designed. Love the pink yarrow color, though!

Supremely comfortable!

I love these. They are so cushiony and comfortable - my feet love when I come in the house and put them on. Having said that, I do only wear them around the house (and the yard) but not when I'm out and about. This is mostly because of the color, which is a bright orange. I do want to buy another pair in black to wear on quick trips to the store, etc. but they never seem to be in stock in my size (W8). I tried the grey for another neutral color, but the color is much lighter than what appears on the screen. So, I'm stuck waiting for the black to be in stock. As for another reviewer's comment that they cause blisters on the pinky toe and should only be worn with socks, I did not find this to be true. In the spring when I first start wearing them each year, it does take a day or two for my feet to adjust to them, but I don't experience pain to nearly any extent that I would ever consider wearing socks with them. Also, the cushioning on these is far superior to any other brand of recovery sandal I've tried (e.g., Merrell, Oofos (hated) Timberland, Reef, etc.). I think they're so comfortable, I bought a pair for my son-in-law who is in the military and he loves them.

Toe bump/ridge = Unnecessary "innovation". Blister machines!

The ora recovery slide 2 is my most worn shoe in adulthood. Love it. Still wearing worn out ones all the time now because the ora 3 have the toe bump that is not designed for all feet. I don't know what purpose it serves specifically for people it works for (presumably keeps your toes locked in better), but for people like me it just produces blisters and foot cramps all the time. (I have longer than normal toes, but not wide feet or anything else special about foot shape. The ridge still just seems to assume that the point at which people's toes start and arch/taper is the same and it's really not that similar for many). These are shoes for relaxing and recovering. The idea that the toe bump/ridge is necessary or universally beneficial seems very unlikely, but ... MoreThe ora recovery slide 2 is my most worn shoe in adulthood. Love it. It will likely be years before I can see a new version that doesn't have this terrible, unnecessary feature and it makes me sad.I LOVE the ora 2. Can't find one even on massive markup on auction sites in my size anymore. So sad that I never got backups in case something like this happened in the future. So, so disappointing. I waited a long time to post this in hopes that maybe some alternative without the bump would come along, but alas, here we are...

Unpleasant at first

I have had foot pain for about 6 years now and was increasingly getting worse, I have been involved in to say the least extreme sports as well as recreational sports my entire life since around 5yrs old(I am 30 now) sports including soccer, cricket, football, baseball, downhill mtn bike racing and motocross racing, I work 8-5 as a 4Wd parts and accessories fitter and previously qualified motorcycle mechanic,(always on my feet on concrete).I was looking for something to easy the pain on my feet after all these years since the transfer of pain started moving towards my knees hip and back for compensating for the foot pain. I went in store to try on a pair knowing I wasn’t certain of web purchasing. I’m a 2E fit 9.5 shoe, (I got a wide foot) first impression was uncomfortable and tight but reading up on the slides had me convinced I needed this pair. 10 were well to long 9’s right length but tight. I proceeded to purchase against any off feelings. For the first day and a half post purchase I had powdered my feet and the slide and with socks and bared a short but satisfying break-in of the slides. I have had my set no longer than 5 days and my foot pain is next to gone along with knee and hip pain. I wish I knew of these earlier in my life for body preventative maintenance 😂. So far my experience with these slides have far exceeded my expectations and would recommend to anyone willing to bare the breaking in period!
