Many events happen through out the book. Stanely becomes friends with Zero. He teaches Zero to read. Zero gets very upset and runs away. The boys are scared because he has little water and it is very hot. Stanely finds him and together they climb a mountain. They find great treasures on the mountain. The treasures eventually close camp Green Lake.

A must read!

'holes' was initially an unusual read! Aimed at 12+ year olds, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as a 50 + year old. It was a happy, laughing story! The character's names and the plot of filling in holes and then digging out holes is amusing. The lesson learnt by Stanely is rewarding.

Excellent story. Suitable for most ages

Such a good story. Entwines a story in the present, far into the past. Keeps you guessing and wondering and leaves you realising so much! Good moral story too. Suitable for children. One of the most enjoyable reads I've read for a while (I'm 47 lol).

Great book for kids

Great book for kids (my son read it at school in year 6 and enjoyed again in year 7). Enjoyed it myself too! Also bought the film, though we watched this after the book. Would recommend both.

Great read!

My son read this for his school novel and loved it. I was interested in what he was reading so read it too. A great read, fantastic message about friendship and being your own person - highly recommend it.

When I found out my class was working on the book Holes, I was actually kind of excited. I had never read or seen the movie holes, but I had definitely heard about it. Going into the book, I had no idea what to expect because I had no clue what the book was really about, but to my surprise I actually found the book quite entertaining.I found the writing style quite basic, but the book was still fun to read. I am only a teenager so I don't really tend to focus on what the writing style is like. I think that since the writing style is so simple, this book would be great for kids. I think the world in Holes was quite unique for such a basic book. I can't really say why because I don't want to spoil anything. Another thing I loved was all the creatures that were involved. I loved the Yellow-Spotted Lizard though, the way it was described was perfect, I could just see a picture of it in my head while reading. One thing that could have been better was maybe a bit more of description on what the characters looked like, I could hardly picture what they would look like. I really liked how some of the characters had nick names, I thought that was really good, even though a lot of characters in books have nick names. A few examples of the nick names are Armpit, X-Ray and Magnet. Just the problem with that I had was that I couldn't really remember what their real names where most of the time except for a couple, but I guess that's just me, not many people would find that an issue.I really recommend Holes for kids, maybe 9+, but it's up to the person who wants to read it. This book is a really quick read, and it's really fun. If you are wanting a book that's not fantasy or a cutsie romantic YA, then this book would be a great option to pick up. Our Public School made us purchase this book as our child's text for this term (3rd class). We have seen the Disney movie based on this book and it was very good. Perhaps for children a little older than third class I would have thought, but I'm only a parent, I'm not a professional educator, that is just my personal opinion.

The quality is better than expected

The product came in quickly! (especially considering what is going on right now 4/24/2020) The product is clean and looks new. The previous owner of the book did a great job taking care of this classic.
