Do not buy the Honda EU2200i. It was delivered, I put oil and gas in it as directed by the manual, opened the vent, and turned on the switch and choke as instructed. Tried pulling 40+ times with the choke closed and open….never even sputtered. I pulled the spark plug and there was no gas in the cylinder. I tried to start it three more times on different days with the same lack of results.I tried to take it to a Honda certified service center in my area, Annapolis, MD. Both of the local shops listed on the Honda Website said they no longer carried or worked on these generators.I eventually took it back to Home Depot where they would not replace it because I ordered it on-line. i use this generator for power outage. i reside in gulf coast areas and hurricanes are an issue for us. i used this generator twice. first use about 10 hours. second use about 22 hours. on third attemp generator would not start back up. my third attemp to start unit was only a few hours after using it the second time. difficult for me to give a review.i am very discouraged at this point. i will take unit in for warranty. if warranty process turns out okay. i may not be disappointed. i performed some diagnostics on my unit. i am getting spark, fuel delivery is okay, what i found is that the engine has no compression. 0 psi when performing compression test on engine. with 0 psi reading this unit is not going to start or run. I hope warranty takes care of my issue.

This is my second Honda EU generator. My first EU2000i was purchased in 2004 I used it with a mobile business I had daily until 2009. Then it was used periodically after that point. In 2006 a car ran over it and drug it down half a block. The outside was torn up but it still ran like a champ. That unit ran for 11 hours on a gallon of gas at about a quarter power. I like the young so much I decided to buy two brand new ones to link together in case of power outages caused by an extreme cold front. As always, the Honda generators worked spectacularly.

I have the eu2000i companion as well. This one has enough juice to start a 15k btu ac, but barely. mostly I use it in combination with my 2000 for starting fan motors and AC's. I like that they redesigned the oil plug on these. The redesign is a much better design than the original. I just completed a job in the middle or nowhere, literally where there was zero power and all the power I had I had to produce either with my 50KW diesel generator while spraying foam or the 2 inverters after that's shut down. On the combination I was able to run the 15K AC and 2 1hp fans. On the cooler day I was also able to also start up a 1/3 hp fan with all that, but on the hotter day it was to much for them and would overload the system. So all and all I'm pleases. We bought this as an auxillary generator for camping and our deep sea fishing boat. We have owned 3 of these and they are great. Quiet, fuel efficient, and reliable. This is a great option for someone needing to power a medical device during power outage. We are able to run a 75" tv, satellite dish system and the generator doesnt even come off low RPM idle. This generator has two 110 plugs and rated at 15 Amps which is equivalent to an average household 2 socket outlet.

It spied the red Honda and used it for purchase as it soared into the air. Weighing 30 pounds, with a wing span of 5 feet, it knocked the generator into the water with the extension cord attached. I live at Salem Campground & RV's which is located behind the Salem store on Hagers Grove Road and like many others living here, I am a retired Veteran. This Home Depot insists on starting their rooftop generators every Monday morning at 6AM. I suffer from PTSD, and have contacted the store numerous times to ask that they please stop making so much noise so early in the morning, but to no avail. My understanding is that the store manager is a Veteran himself, so I can't understand why he doesn't do something about it. I guess I'm at their mercy, but it doesn't seem right, especially since the park was here first. C'mon Home Depot... do the right thing and fix this problem.

The oil level is correct and I used gasoline preservative in the tank. I started the generator on two occasions about a week apart, it ran well; I tested it to power our garage refrigerator and it worked well. Afterwards, I drained the carburetor using the drain screw according to manual's instructions, and the minimal amount of gas in the tank had ample preservative in it. After about 10 days I attempted to start the generator with fresh gas and it refused to start after two hours of attempts and re-reading the starting instructions to go through the start procedure checklist. It wont run at all unless you leave it on choke halfway for a long time. It surges and misses when running. If i put it on eco mode it keeps surging terrible like it is running out of gas. I am returning it . I am not troubleshooting a brand new 1200 dollar generator or taking it to a repair shop. Fresh non ethanol gas. Honda oil filled properly. Checked gas cap for vacuum. Installed new ngk spark plug. Nada. I have an old westinghouse and a powermate generator . Obvious defect in the starter that is tearing up ropes (not uncommon on old units). Dealer claims this is not a problem so wont fix it. Then ran rough for some time and then has very little power (wont run anything but a couple of LED lights) but now it wont start. Dont have heat in below zero temps without a genny, not fun waking up to 26 degrees in the house!!! I get they are busy and need to schedule a time to drive 6 hours for repairs but the dealer will NOT schedule for repairs so I am buying a harbor freight generator tomorrow morning. BTW We were honda dealers for decades and NEVER thought I would buy anything else but here we are!! Been loyal ... MorePurchased from a small dealer.
