Aloy's journey continues, and it was well worth the wait.Horizon: Zero Dawn remains one of the best single-player games of the past decade. It combined a familiar gameplay loop with a new and exciting open world. There were some truly jaw dropping moments in the original game, and the sequel holds nothing back.Picking up only a few months after the end of the first game, this story is deep, exciting, and filled with twists and turns. I very much enjoyed the original Horizon and while Forbidden West shows flashes of that greatness it is not anywhere near as polished with a lot of traversal glitches and quirks on display. Climbing has also become a chore, surfaces that look like they should be able to be climbed aren't and vice versa, the rope pulley mechanic is also poorly and awkwardly implemented. Aloy also moves somewhat awkwardly now with the mo cap animations with a strange input delay whenever you turn sort of like shes drunk. A lot of fights also feel rather unfair with no way to gradually gain the upper hand against multiple enemies if you get discovered, stick to stealth and if you get caught leg it or you'll get murked.Overall gameplay doesn't feel very balanced with a massive amount ... MoreI very much enjoyed the original Horizon and while Forbidden West shows flashes of that greatness it is not anywhere near as polished with a lot of traversal glitches and quirks on display. Eg; Ropecaster in the original game was certainly OP, instead of hip fire always connecting just adding the need to wait for the shot to have maximum tension for it to latch to armour would have been enough of a nerfing the significantly slower firing rate of the early game versions at least makes the Ropecaster near useless against all but the slowest of enemies. Never in my 27 or so years gaming have I played a sequel that mechanically has taken almost exclusively steps backwards rather than forwards.

This is one of my all time favorites. It's a must play game.It has everything that Horizon Zero Dawn offered plus a lot more. Although I liked HZD story better.Graphics: The best till date. I ended up using photo mode a lot which I typically don't care on other games. I would wander in the gorgeous open world.Gameplay: Definitely much better than HZD with so many weapons to choose from and with far better skills tree. Also, customization option on several things is so great such as easy loot, sprint option, bypassing resource pick up animation etc.Dualsense: I loved some of the dualsense features in the game when you use a bow, pry door open, walk through tall grass etc.Machines: New machines are awesome, especially Slaughterspine, Clawstrider and of ... MoreThis is one of my all time favorites. I completed main story after exploring most of the map in my first playthrough.Music: Amazing music overall, especially when you fight certain machines.Characters: I like Aloy's character but the new companions are great as well. Better voiceovers than HZD.Weapons: A lot of new weapons. You can choose whichever fits your play style.Armors: A lot of new armors to choose from. I love transmog feature to use best armor but use look of any other good looking armors.Load times are almost negligible most of the times. Fast traveling is much better. I love how easy inventory management is, anything beyond carrying capacity goes to your stash.Looking forward to Burning Shores DLC!

This games is stunning to look at. The gameplay, combat, and leveling system is really awesome. All this and I just started this game. I have a long way to go and so much to explore and do. This game is worth every penny. It is fun to play from the get go and after seeing and reading a lot of reviews it only gets better. If you played the first one and liked it you will be very pleased with this one. The only drawback for me is the extended dialogue between NPCâs and your character, it tends to run long, but luckily you can speed that up some with a button press on the controller. I am playing this on a PS4 with a 4K TV and it looks beautiful, I can only imagine what it looks like on a PS5 with an OLED. It is really fun to approach this game, you can go in stealth, full on attack, set up the fighting area with traps and tripwires, and taking down the large mechanical creatures is a lot of fun. This game is just short of a masterpiece. Huge open world with tons of things to do and see. It is a challenge and very fun to play. Definitely recommend to anyone that likes open world action, itâs up there with elements as seen in Breath of the Wild, Mass Effect, Biohazard, Fallout and so many other titles but still unique in its own way. Loved the first one and am just as happy with this one. My only regret is that I donât have a PS5 and OLED to enjoy this on.
Overall this is a really solid sequel to the original HZD, which I absolutely loved. My main complaints are with the graphics/performance, and lack originality compared to the first game. With the graphics, you have a choice between âfavors resolutionâ mode which gives you stunning 4K resolution graphics but only at 30 FPS, or âfavors performanceâ mode that gives you 1800P checkerboard rendering but at a smooth 60FPS.The problem is that resolution mode looks great picture wise, but 30 FPS is nearly unplayable to me for some reason, as even with the max motion blurring it still is very stuttery and not very smooth. On the performance mode the smoothness issues are totally gone and the game runs great, but certain items (most noticeably hair and vegetation) look ... MoreOverall this is a really solid sequel to the original HZD, which I absolutely loved. Really I donât like either setting, but tend to play in performance mode as smoothness typically takes priority and I just try to ignore the horribly low res vegetation and such. The other issue I have is with the story and game mechanics itselfâŠ. I guess on some level I should of expected this, but I just didnât feel like they pushed the game forward enough. Like it feels and plays like pretty much the same game as before, but with some upgraded graphics (yet worse in some ways with the horrible aliasing like I mentioned above). They did add a few new game mechanics, but it essentially feels like just a giant expansion pack of the original. I was so blown away by the originality of the first game, but I guess this just felt like picking up where you left off in the other game rather than blowing my mind again. I am only about halfway through the game, so maybe there is still time for a few more surprises yet.
Just want to be clear on something here that extra 10$ or 20$ is purely based on gamer preference for owning disc games to begin with, tbh first off they're is a special ps5 version for 99$ that you cannot get if you buy the pa4 edition and even if you buy the regular ps5 vs ps4 (plus free ps5 upgrade) youâre paying 10$ more because you WANT to have the original PS5 Disc case and disc key. As a old school gamer I would only buy the PS5 for that extra 10$ because I MUST HAVE THE ORIGINAL DISCS I love collecting and having an original tangible product when I spend money on a new game for the new console in this case im buying and collecting fir my PS5 not PS4 and the PS4 one just does not make sense to my aesthetic preference over owning the original PS5 game case for ... MoreJust want to be clear on something here that extra 10$ or 20$ is purely based on gamer preference for owning disc games to begin with, tbh first off they're is a special ps5 version for 99$ that you cannot get if you buy the pa4 edition and even if you buy the regular ps5 vs ps4 (plus free ps5 upgrade) youâre paying 10$ more because you WANT to have the original PS5 Disc case and disc key. Therefor although it is not a big deal to some people as a disc lover It is a huge difference for me to own the PS5 newest edition game vs older gen look, if i didnât care i wouldent even buy the ps4 disc ir any disc i would just buy digitally to begin with! My point is people who generally like buying discs will spot this instantly and easily want the PS5 original disc collection and that is what sony charges the extra â10$â for its not to trick you! Its actually because they know exactly what type of people want it and will be looking for it specifically! To buy the original disc! Just wanted to add this point of view, its for a specific market of people that care about that like myself! Cheers
Pros: So I bought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend and it literally turned into some kind of mistress that Iâd inadvertently invited into our home. He spent hours playing and telling me how beautiful it was. Heâd even asked me to watch him discovering this new beautiful adventure. Thankfully I was happy to share his joy as it gave me time to watch Jason Momoa & Lenny Kravitz online, that Lisa Bonet is one lucky lady and sip cold beers in peace. Anyway, game looked amazing and judging by the hours he spent playing it and going âooooâ and âahhhhâ, my partner loved it! 10/10 , great game :0)Cons: No, just keep them coming as Iâve got Idris Elba & Ryan Reynolds to check out next. Thanks.
A masterclass in beautiful sequels.Absolute gem of a sequel that builds on to the already well-established foundation of Zero Dawn. The scope of the entire game has been scaled up the max. The graphics are generational (even if it's also on ps4), the animations are vastly improved, the open world feels drastically enhanced and feels 'lived in'.The quest design feels great, negating the few bad puzzles that you'll run into through it's runtime. If you make it through those small rough patches, you'll really be in for a great and immersive experience throughout. The performance and graphical issues that people have mentioned were definitely a large smear literally and figuratively for the game at launch -- but -- they've been almost completely fixed. This game isnt bad but its overrated as hell. There is nothing here that you haven't already seen in a open world game. Graphics are a 10/10, world design is beautiful. Combat and progession are fun, but still virtually identical to the first game. The only reason anyone gives this game a perfect score is because their expectations have been lowered by have lowered by the ocean of mediocre Ubisoft open world games. Horizon Forbidden West is not a bad game, but compared to actually great open world games like Red Dead 2 and Breath of the Wild, its completely lacking in creativity and personality. You can't seriously tell me you enjoyed listening to hours of Horizon's weak writing. You cant say with a straight face that this game's story is anything memorable. And if you play open world games, like ever, you cannot say that you haven't done every activty this game has to offer before.A good sequel is more than making a new world and adding new enemy types and character abilities. You need to improve the core foundation of the game, and you cannot say that Forbidden West does that.
Tl;dr - If you enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn in any capacity, you will be floored by this game. Buy it.First off, in an age of botched or underwhelming AAA releases, I canât begin to tell you how refreshing it is to see a big name game that:works at launch, isnât trying to milk you for more money, sells exactly what they advertise and has a level of polish youâd expect from a big budget studio. *cough cough* ubi, ea, bethesda *cough*Now, this game. Take whatâs good about the original, add some more layers/depth, throw out some stuff that didnât work in the original and voila. Exploration, world traversal, melee combat, npc interactions, world activities, enemy diversity, UI⊠they have all been expanded or improved on substantially over HZD.Bottom line: if you canât tell, this is a definite recommend. I am blown away by this game. I would buy this game twice before I played another hour of failed AAA garbage.Thank you Guerrilla Games, and anyone else involved with this game. Thank you for showing us quality releases can still exist.
