Astonished 4K Projector!

For the first time, I could see the character’s facial expressions so crisply and in detail, and the colors just looked right. The Dolby Vision adjustment gave me the feeling of watching it in a theater. I don’t know why; it’s just magical.Equally impressive is the projector's optical zoom functionality. The projected image can be very large at times. With this product, you simply press a button, and then you see the image adjust losslessly; it’s super cool. I sometimes move it to the bedroom, and it does a great job with the auto keystone to correct the image for me. For the first time, I feel like the screen in my room is enough. The last part I LOVE a lot is the design! You have to admit, it looks super premium. The electric cover looks so good; watching it slide down automatically every time is a wow moment. It also looks like a beautiful item in your home environment. In conclusion, this projector is a remarkable gem that offers an extraordinary visual journey. I also tested some games on it; a 200-inch gaming screen is something else. Whether you're a movie enthusiast, a gaming aficionado, or a dedicated binge-watcher, this projector is a worthy investment. Give it a try.

I first bought the Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K, but saw that this model came out a few weeks ago. I read a few technical reviews on this model and figured it’d be worth a shot. I would normally buy an LG or Sony OLED TV because of the picture quality, but I wanted a big screen in the form of something portable enough for moving between rooms in my home (and home-relocation, when the time comes). Here are my thoughts on the Ultra HD model… Pros: 1. Beautiful picture, with rich colors and great detail, that’s close enough to the feel of watching a TV for 99% of people. 2. Bright light with vivid tonal mapping, highlights, and contrast. 3. Beautiful room-filling sound. 4. Beautiful design with much-appreciated light dimmer with motion sensor, should an object/person get in ... MoreI first bought the Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K, but saw that this model came out a few weeks ago. Though beautiful and “premium,” I’m concerned that the PU leatherette aurface will be a magnet for my cats to scratch, and im concerned how this will age in the long run as I move it from room-to-room. 2. There is the occasional glitch with the Xgimi software when streaming directly from the projector’s OS. Ideally, I’d stream video from my XBox Series X, because that produced the best video quality of any non-Blu-Ray player I’ve seen; although, a Chromecast dongle would work sufficiently well for a more seamless option.

Great Idea but poor execution.

I REALLY wanted to like this product. They took a success in the Horizon Pro and added Dolby Vision, Dual Light and the promise of much higher light output. I will say that the packaging was outstanding and the presentation was top notch but you buy a projector for the video quality and this has one major flaw. The projector forces you into Dolby Vision (a majority of quality streaming content is now Dolby Vision) and unfortunately the MEMC is disabled while utilizing Dolby Vision. I confirmed this with XGIMI as well to make sure I wasn't missing something. One of the major reasons for using XGIMI projectors is the smooth video output and that is just not possible with this projector. I also did a side by side comparrison with the Horizon Pro and for a considerable amount less cost, the brightness and picture quality almost seemed identical (minus the lack of MEMC of course) The colors actually popped a bit more with the Pro, so I would suggest going that route even without the MEMC issue.I would avoid this product and go with the Horizon Pro until XGIMI can figure out something with the MEMC.***In the image, Horizon Pro up top and Horizon Ultra below using very simliar settings***

It’s truly the home projection of the next age
19 September 2023

When I was researching for a home projector of a package like this, all of the ones will cost at least $3000, $4000, or even $6000, and with NO speakers, NO os, NO smart features. It truly feels like most projectors are stuck in 20 years ago, and this projector truly brings home projection to the year of 2023.Up to 200’’ screen instantly, a third of the weight compared with most projectors at this tier, tons of smart features that IT SIMPLY WORKS, a stylish design, smart OS, Harman Kardon speakers (2x), etc.! It simply got the complete package, and I have been absolutely falling in love. I don’t need to spend HOURS to set up, move stuff away, buy screens, calibrate, etc., IT JUST WORKS. Finally home projection catches up with smartphones in terms of intelligence. ... MoreWhen I was researching for a home projector of a package like this, all of the ones will cost at least $3000, $4000, or even $6000, and with NO speakers, NO os, NO smart features. My personal Horizon Ultra review
6 October 2023

This is Andrew J. Riley (AVS Forum member Wolfie). I am a member of XGimi’s new Pilot program and I was invited to the product launch of XGimi’s new Horizon Ultra projector by XGimi in New York City a few weeks ago. After viewing the product, XGimi graciously forwarded me the product to review. Here is my assessment of this exceptional projector.PROS:High brightness display: The Horizon Ultra can be used in any environment; indoors or outdoors.Projector is driven by RGB LED lasers that lasts for over 20,000 hours, so you never have to replace the bulbs, unlike other lamp-based projectors.Automatic Digital Focus and Keystone. This feature makes it truly a “set it and forget it” projector.Weight: This projector weighs only 11 pounds, so it is virtually a portable projector unit.Automatic Color Correction: The projecting screen can be any color you like. The image will always be right. This is an XGimi innovation.CONS;Remote has no back-lighting, which makes it hard to get used to. But, with some practice, the remote should be easy to use.Menus are somewhat slow popping up: This could be irritating at times. No Lens Shift: If you are using a fixed screen configuration, the unit must be hard-mounted, removing the “portable” designation.Optical Zoom feature is a bit clunky and loud. The light engine puts out a lot of heat. It could use another fan to cool it down.MY ASSESSMENT:When I first turned the Horizon Ultra on, I noticed the picture was set from the factory, which is normal. However, I was unfamiliar with all the features of this little gem, especially using the remote control which, as I had mentioned before, is not back-lit. I was in my home theater in the dark and fumbling with the remote to get the picture centered. It was, at first, exasperating. But I finally got used to it and centered the picture right where I wanted it. Then, the most amazing thing happened; I was blown away by the picture quality! I have an Epson 5040UB (the UB standing for “Ultra Bright”) hanging in my theater room. It is generally bright, but tends to get washed out in the daylight. But reviewing the Horizon Ultra, it is almost TOO bright. I had to adjust the picture levels through the custom picture settings. Once I did this, the picture stood out. Great colors and no bleeding (bleeding is when the colors are blown out and “bleed” onto other areas of the picture.) This is due to the LED lasers driving it. The biggest advantage to this projector is that the lasers last a minimum of 20,000 hours, so there is no need to ever replace the bulb in it; it truly is set and forget. Another advantage of the Horizon Ultra is the lack of pixel separation. You can get right up inches from the image and you will see no pixels. Even the best TVs made will show some pixel separation. This makes the image more lifelike. It even has an automatic lens cover to protect the lens when not in use and transporting.CONCLUSION: If you are looking for a great value in a projector, you won’t find anything better than the XGimi Horizon Ultra. The price-point of $1699 is incredible, considering all the features and longevity of the projector. And the pros definitely outweigh the cons here, so if you can live with the cons, then you won’t go wrong with this projector. I give the XGimi Horizon Ultra my highest recommendation.
