Hornby Track R601 12x Double Straights Pack

I thought the double track was the two foot length.in fact it's two half lengths making it a foot lengths. The way Hornby describe it is a bit miss leading. However I should have realised from the price it was the foot length. The actual track I wanted was the long straight and I have noticed when Hornby describe the long straight they give the actual length in the description. However the track I purchased will not go to waste and now know what o order in the future.As usual Jadlam packaging and delivery is excellent and I will definitely use again.

Cheap. Arrived quickly, but quality is poor.

Item arrived quickly. Print quality is very fuzzy, map is paper, badly creased at folds and tears easily. Way bigger than I anticipated so unable to use. Would be ok secured to a base board if you had the space and might look ok when the track is complete.

Excellent quality railway mat.

Colourful, and excellent quality, durable, strong paper mat. It does arrive folded, so i have rolled it up inside a cardboard tube and left it for a few days to smooth it out. This should help reduce any creases.

Flexible Straight- Handy in the long run

This track segment provides the span of over two and a half Double Straights while bypassing the need for the three connections required to join them. Plus they can be gently curved around your scenery or help match up different segments of track in a less regimented way. Attach fish plates (not included) and to other track segments with great care, as it is easy to distort the track and straightening the sleepers back up can be difficult. They need to be stuck down to hold a curved shape but they can be used straight in a temporary layout. There are gaps between sleepers at quarter intervals to allow cables to be run under the rails. There are no gaps between sleepers and rails to install a power clip.

Good basic track components

Hornby track is well made and constructed, the nickel silver has good corrosion resistance. The R605/R607/R609 curves and R600/R601 are good for basic layouts. These are 'code 100' which is slightly overscale but cost effective and great for starters to the hobby.

Model railway nostalgia

These old Hornby Dublo locos were built like tanks. Seemingly indestructible, easily repairable. The only downside is their magnet, which diminishes over time. If you can get it re-magnetised, the loco will pull as strongly as the day it left the factory. Far more robust than modern locos, which will break if you happen to pick them up the wrong way. There's great satisfaction to be had in bringing to life a model railway from the 1950s.

Recommend quality tracks

Hi everyone, when I first saw them I was reluctant to buy because there lot of stuff out there these days. But I did & ho boy was I glad I did unused brand new very good quality for the price some others were double & heres the plus they do other track again at a very reasonable prices take a look I definitely recommend them.
