We love love love Hot Wheels, and my son is also getting into Mario. He begged me to take him to Target to “get some tracks” for his Hot Wheel City (something we love to do together). He saw this and was so excited. He grabbed it and threw it in the cart and couldn’t wait to get it home - so imagine our surprise when we went to launch Luigi and we couldn’t even get it to cock properly, let alone launch. Bought it for my nephew and he was extremely disappointed. The Thowmp only works about 30% of the time and if it doesn't work, the car will hit the second trigger on the way around and derail it from the track. It is also very difficult for him to operate it. Will be returning it.

Pretty fun, am 22 yrs old now and saw they were releasing new Mario kart Hot wheels and knew I had to get the cars for my desk at work. Unfortunately only way to get the cars right now is to buy the track sets as they don't have the individual cars by themselves at the moment. I like how detailed Luigi is and such though the track is kinda flimsy and the yellow pull back launcher doesn't hook on to well and the thwomp switch thing doesn't always fall down, sometimes you gotta redo the switch thing plus the yellow launcher pushes Luigi to hard he falls off sometimes. But it works as expected nothing really negative besides those 3 things but it still works. Like how you can connect this and the piranha plant set up to the big track set to. Bought every add-on of the Mario Kart Hot Wheel’s set but this add-on made it work horribly. I decided not to use it on it’s own due to reviews, but it’s terrible even as an expansion to any set. Returned it.

My Grandson got this yesterday for Christmas and thank goodness he got some other toys that worked so he does not even play with this junky toy. The launching mechanism does not work as intended. It has a rubber band that pulls the plunger forward when the release button is pushed. Two problems, 1) the rubberband pulls the plunger up from the tension, and 2) the plunger will not stay cocked because the button will not hold the plunger. So if you hold down the button so the plunger will stay cocked as soon as you release pressure on the button the plunger activates and shoots the car up off the track. For such a simple concept, boy was it terribly executed. Pressure on the button to release the launcher causes it to move forward at about a 30 degree upward angle. As a result, the cars are propelled off of the track every time. In order to get the launcher to function as intended, clearly not as designed, you must maintain positive downward pressure on the launch rod as it is released. All they had to do was extend the housing for the launcher to prevent it from rising on release. This is the last Hot Wheels set we will be purchasing. Of four sets, only half have worked correctly or reliably. 50 percent is not a acceptable rate of success.Sent from my iPad
Great toy! My 5 year old son loves Mario and already had some of the hot wheels Mario cars. The plunger is a little confusing, but you have to pull it up to lock it in place as the instructions describe. My son was easily able to figure it out once I showed him. It works great and provides hours of fun!
We got this for my four-year-old son for his birthday and for some reason when you press the button he runs into the wall or shoot off of the track no matter which way you turn him. Maybe this is a good addition for a track but we got this for him as a starter and it sucks I don’t recommend this
Simply doesn’t work as it’s supposed to. My son received it as a birthday gift. The launcher is really clunky and poorly designed. There are way better ways to launch a car than this. But what’s even worse is that when the car goes over the little button flap, it doesn’t trigger the thwomp to drop. I can even set the car on top of the button and nothing happens. For some reason when I push the flap closed with my finger it will drop the thwomp, but the car itself won’t. Complete waste of money. Just plastic trash.
