Hourglass - Ambient Lighting Palette
Add natural radiance to the skin without looking glittery with the Ambient Lighting Edit from Hourglass. This innovative illuminating palette contains three shades of ultra-fine light-reflective powder to gently filter the skin so that it looks even and smooth in all lights, even harsh artificial lighting. Thanks to specialist Photo-Luminescent Technology, each powder captures and diffuses light differently, to hide large pores, imperfections, fine lines and dullness, making skin look beautifully lit from within. Suitable for all skin types, press or dust a small amount of the powder over the face after applying foundation. Can be used all over or just in key areas. Powders can be used alone or mixed together.

This is a great way to try some of the Ambient Lighting shades. Not all shades compliment skin equally. I believe that it’s Radiant Light that I can practically use as a bronzer on my fair skin. Diffused Light looks the best on my skin and that is not the one I expected to love. I think that you really need to play around with these to discover which one is right for you and for what purpose you use it. I use these almost always as a finishing powder. I set my makeup often with these and I find it gives a good set. Not like a loose translucent powder but I often want a dewy, luminous finish and these work great for that. My makeup wear is extended some too. I use a fluffy powder brush to apply. The packaging is, of course, gorgeous, as most of Hourglass is. My biggest piece of advice when using these is use a lighter hand than you may feel like doing. Sometimes I feel the need to pile it on, only to get into brighter lighting and look way too shimmery and a bit cakey. It is showing up more than you realize usually. If I use too much, my skin has a tendency to feel oily later on as well. Recently I tried the Tarte Shape Tape Glow Powder in Starlit and I found that to be an amazing, amazing dupe. It just performs as beautifully as these do. Do not expect an absolute miracle with these as the hype is so intense, but they are such pretty finishing powders!

I absolutely adore this palette from Hourglass. It was the first product that I ever bought from the brand, and I have been a loyal customer ever since. That was probably almost ten years ago now, so you know it's good ;)This palette is a great introduction to the unique Hourglass powders, and I love that it comes with the highlighter also - super handy for travel. The packaging hasn't changed since I first bought this though, which in a way is a bit disappointing because it has dated now and looks a bit clunky. It does a great job of protecting the soft powders inside though, so perhaps that is the reasoning behind that decision.Overall though, a magical palette, and one that I can imagine people would get a lot of use out of. I have had this palette for over a year and am about to purchase a replacement. It's my favourite and I love the shades. My skin is very fair, with a cool undertone. The Dim Light (left) is by far the best powder I've used, the colour is spot on and it has only a small amount of highlight, so I can use it pretty much all over my face. The Incandescent Light (middle) is the perfect highlighter shade, and works fabulously on top of cheekbones / low temple area. The Radiant Light (right) is a warmer highlight shade that is perfect for summer or if you have a warmer skin tone. The powders feel really fine on the skin and the highlight particles themselves are very small. This palette however is perfect for a more natural or less dramatic look, where the overall finish is what you notice, not the individual powders. It's fab!

I'm an NW45 in MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation, G110 in CoverFX foundations and Lancome 520W in the Longwear Matte foundation. This palette is good to use the powders as finishing and highlighting powders for my skin tone. The first shade Eternal Light, I use as a finishing powder for the inner parts of my face that are the lightest. The middle/deepest shade Transcendent Light, I use as a finishing powder for the periphery of my face since the periphery of my face is darker. On my skintone, this middle shade Transcendent Light will NOT work as a bronzer. If you are lighter than me, then yes it can be used to bronze. While it is good to see Hourglass finally release this palette, they can release one more that is even deeper where there is an actual bronzer for ... MoreI'm an NW45 in MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation, G110 in CoverFX foundations and Lancome 520W in the Longwear Matte foundation. This palette is good to use the powders as finishing and highlighting powders for my skin tone. While it is good to see Hourglass finally release this palette, they can release one more that is even deeper where there is an actual bronzer for people of my skintone and darker. The third shade Prismatic Strobe Light, is a beautiful highlighter that looks very smooth on the skin. All in all a good palette to finally have after all this time so that darker skin could finally experience the Hourglass finishing powders without them being ashy as hell, but at least one more deeper palette can be made to have an actual bronzer for deep skin.
I picked this palette up in store. I wasn't sure what colour to pick for an individual product, so I decided to go for the palette instead to try different variations. I asked the sales assistant who gave me advice, however it would have been beneficial if she tried the product on my face which she didn't do.Upon first applying, I was sceptical. Then I added the darker shade to my cheeks and wow. The finish is a subtle glow, not too glittery or shimmery, looks dewy and not dry like other powders can. My skin looked great, a nice healthy glow with a blurring effect. I'm going to experiment more with this pallette and I would be interested in using more shade variations, in particular a darker bronzer colour.
This gives the most beautiful illuminated finish, without being shiny. These are all finishing powder, so there's not the pigment payout of a highlighter or a bronzer, but a simple swipe of all 3 shades together makes my skin look beautiful. I'll even use a quick swipe on days that I'm not even wearing anything on my face, and it somehow manages to make me look polished. I've also used the middle lightest shade with a dense pencil brush on the inner corners of my eyes when I didn't want to also pull out a shadow palette. Again, not really color payoff, but somehow still makes me look like I've done something. I've even been inspired to try the new jellyfish palette, because I really want to try the bronzer and highlighter and blush. I purchased this online as it had really good reviews and I thought it would be good idea to invest in a quality product. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and am slightly disappointed as it doesn't do much for me, and I feel like these powders (apart from bronzer shade) are not showing up on my skin. And I don't have dark skin- I am white, with neutral undertones, very little tan. After purchasing I also went in Space NK store and had it applied in store just in case I was doing anything wrong and I could mostly see a lot of bronzer (which is not the look I am going for). I prefer using Nars blush on my cheeks which already has highlight plus Laura Mercier loose setting powder and I think that make up routine works better for me. Finally decided to leave a review on this palette after using it for 6 years now. Can't believe the price difference, back then it was RM 298. I also had textured skin & acne, it definitely didn't look good on me back then so I put it aside for awhile. Didn't want to throw it out because I did pay that RM 298 okay, it's still expensive. The only way I managed to use this palette was as an eyeshadow & highlight. Still even as an eyeshadow it didn't show up that well on my medium-olive skin tone. But I do like how natural the highlighting effect is.Now my skin is smooth, still I don't have a way to justify this powder. As much as I wanted to love it like everyone else, sometimes it looks good on me sometimes it doesn't. I gave into the hype but ultimately ended up returning. Here's the thing. As the name suggests, this is all about creating/reacting to lighting. If you happen to, idk, host your own TikTok or YouTube channel or find yourself working as a news anchor, this is probably a *great* investment. Lenses and lighting are a major element of the efficacy of this product. If, however, you're looking for something to have an "IRL" impact on your face, there are better products out there. Some are less expensive, and some (Givenchy Prism or Cle de Peau illuminating powders, for instance) are more expensive, but they'll all have a much more noticeable impact on your face — without a camera involved — than this pallette. You'd need to use quite a bit of this to see any effect in ... MoreI gave into the hype but ultimately ended up returning. Here's the thing. This is FANTASTIC. I've been searching high and low for something like this - that is easy to apply - and gives a luminosity without looking glittery or sweaty. It is so very soft focus with a nice lit from within effect. I'm so so pleased. I just love it thank you - this ambient lighting palette 2 is by far my best discovery in quite some time. I like that you can't really mess it up either LOL. I just put on my moisturizer then primer and skin tint-- then dust on my lighting palette for lightest one on browbone and high points of face - cheekbones, nose, bow of lip. Then the medium color I just kind of swish around all over. Then the darkest one for the top of forehead and on my jaw and blend on down my neck. It's so easy to blend and I look and feel beautiful.
