Hourglass - Veil Translucent Setting Powder

For my overly dry skin, I have tried a lot of setting powders and this is the best of the best. It sets makeup and gives the slightest veil of sheen that makes the skin looks poreless and just effortlessly smooth and glowy. It is not an exaggerated glow or a cheap glow but it is an ambient light. Not quite like their finishing powders but a very beautiful finish. Though I love the finishing powders but I like this one better. I have always been a fan of Hourglass that if I can only keep 3 brands in my whole collection Hourglass would have its spot as always. If you have problems finding a setting powder please do not hesitate to try this as this might be your holy grail. I swear to always have one in my makeup drawer. Beautiful powder, doesn't control oil that well.

I really like this powder - I ended up buying the full size. It looks very natural and not overly matte once applied. However, I notice that after a few hours oil starts to build up on my t-zone (combination skin), more so than with other loose powders. I like that it isn't drying, I am prone to flaking in certain areas. My solution is to use this all over, and then apply a different powder to my t-zone.Regarding the packaging - I see how other people have issue with it. It's a travel size with only the "H" holes to get the powder from. I just shake the package a bit before opening and get sufficient powder for one use. The full size also has the "H" holes, but that lid includes a circular stopper that seals a circular area around the space where powder that comes ... MoreI really like this powder - I ended up buying the full size. Great Product for Oily/Combo Skin

I love this powder. The ingredients are awesome. No Talc! It is better than the Laura Mercier one for me. It looks a bit yellow-toned at first and that worried me because I am a natural strawberry blonde with fair pink-toned skin that tends to somewhat lean over to the neutral side. A little bit of powder goes a long way. I don't know if there is any actual yellow tint transferred when I put it on my face, as the pictures don't show it nor can I see anything when I look in the mirror, but I think that it actually becomes translucent after you put it on your face. I haven't baked with this product but I have used it lightly where needed after a full base for plenty of concerts in the past months, where I did sweat a bit on my face because of where the venue was. I too failed to see the tiny inner tab, over the holes to pull, and had to call your company for directions. After being told, and shown by example, the tiny clear curved tab to peel open I then noticed it! Suggestion: Add a hint of color on that tab to make it noticable. I then slightly tapped out my desired portion, dabbed my brush in and brushed the powder lightly all over my face and neck. I am 73 years old and since using this product everytime I see my daughter, and we sit quietly she always compliments my face all made up, hmm. I'm OBSESSED

Ok so to start, I am 40. And while I'm pretty fortunate to not be riddled with wrinkles, I have a few fine lines. And noticing no matter what powder I try it settles into the creases so bad. And I have tried some amazing powders. Smashbox halo, Kim chi, Bobbi Brown. All of these are amazing products. But maybe not so much for mature skin. Which I'm not all the way there, but I definitely don't want a product that accentuates my fine lines. I saw a review of this product on Flip. It looked awesome. But again I figured it would just end up like the other ones, but then I was in store I saw it. I tried it on the back of my hand, which has more fine lines than my face will ever have. I am medium-complexioned (indian) and have dry skin. After trying every loose setting powder on the planet, I have finally found a good one! I I take good care of my skin and it knows when something is not for it. Most powders are not for it. The Laura Mercier one that everyone raves about dries out my face and makes it look like cracks in a desert. I found this after looking for "hydrating setting powders". I wouldn't call it hydrating but it is definitely good with dry skin. It beautifully sets concealer under my eyes (I have dark circles so this is very important) and it mattifies the skin just enough so you can see your natural shine/glow from underneath. I can't stress this enough. Whenever I tap off the excess, it provides a beautiful thin veil over my makeup and makes it look flawless. Whenever I forget to, it does look a little powdery, although I make it work. It's definitely better to add a very thin layer, at least from my experience. 10/10 would recommend and I really do hope my review helps! :)

Works well with ultra-fair cool-toned skin

I have no qualms about using the Hourglass Translucent Setting Powder, of which I received a mini-size in a Space NK GWP. I was worried when I first laid eyes upon it as it reminded me of the Laura Mercier loose powder, which truly looks yellow on me, goes on patchy and cakey and creases awfully. The Hourglass powder looks somewhat yellow in the jar, but the result is truly translucent. It blends seamlessly and gives a blurring effect. I have applied it with a beautyblender on the undereye area and the T-zone to set foundation. It does not make my foundation look heavy or cakey - in fact, looking at the result, I would not necessarily even know I have applied powder on my face. In NARS Sheer Glow I wear the shade Oslo which blends well on my skin yet is a smidge too dark (I wish they made a cool-toned shade one lighter than Oslo). In Tom Ford Soft Matte Foundation I am something between the shades 0.0 Pearl (neutral) and 0.1 Cameo (cool) and in TF Shade and Illuminate SPF50 the shade 0.0 Pearl.

I received this powder in the space NK advent calendar in the travel size.My only bugbear is that in the travel size it is hard to get out, however I’m led to believe it is much easier to get products out of of the full size product.The product itself is fabulous, very finely milled and silky in texture. I was wowed when I use this product over the top of my foundation and concealer especially to set my under-eye, I have fine lines as most powders emphasise them, this didn’t. I have used other setting powders in the past and then make my skin appear quite flat and Matt, even after setting powder. This powder gives me a luminous glow and from within look.
