The ACCU-ND technology in the Hoya PROND filters yields a truly neutral color balance that will not add any noticeable color-cast to your images. The Hoya PROND series is aimed at the still photography and HDSLR video markets. The series provides 9 filters from two stop to 10 stop light reduction. The Metallic ACCU-ND coating on the PROND filters do not color shift as you move from one density to the next, a common problem with other series of neutral density filters. Now you can set your white balance once and have the same color balance even if you need to change filters due to changes in lighting, or for creative effect. The PROND filters use Hoya's exclusive clear optical glass that has a metallic ACCU-ND coating front and back to create the neutral density affect. Neutral density filters are designed to reduce the amount of light entering your camera lens and should not have any other effect on the image. Reducing the amount of light allows for the use of wider apertures or slower shutter speeds for creative and dramatic effect in bright lighting conditions. All Hoya PROND filters have a low-profile one piece aluminum frame. The thin frame keeps the glass secure and parallel to the sensor while allowing it to be used with super-wide angle lenses.

I've purchased this one for 10 F-stops and the second Hoya ND filter for an additional 6 F-stops. Both filters, separately or together, allows me 6-16 F-stops close-down. It means long exposures even in bright snow lit by sunlight. Hoya filters are of an incredible and extraordinary optical quality and I always choose this wonderful brand for top-quality filmatic results.

Circular polarizer was introduced in 1980s when auto focus camera became available. Then current auto focusing system had problems when Linear PL filter was used. Today, auto focus system has become so smart that you can use a traditional PL filter without any problems. The industry wants to sell you Circular PL filter because they can charge you more than Linear PL filter. I have taken 100s of pictures with my old linear PL filters on my digital camera with no problems with greater polarizing effect than Circular PL filter. However, without UV filtering element built-in, discoloration by over emphasized blue becomes obvious with some camera equipment especially when dynamic range compression algorithm is utilized. In this line of pursuit for perfection or more natural looking light, I have found this polarizing filter to be very favorable for my style of photography.

Hoya was my first investment in high end filters. The build quality of their filters are excellent. I have five Hoya filters to date, the Pro ND200 is my latest filter purchase and first excursion in Neutral Density filters. Easy to clean.Thin but not difficult to screw on and off.Solid, quality feel and build.Excellent long exposure photography tool.

Been using the filter for a while and it's really well built, doesn't scratch and screws into my lens with ease.Came in handy for a recent product lifestyle shoot I did. I was shooting in a dark room and had to simulate natural light with strobes, these didn't have high speed sync so I wasn't able to shoot at a wide aperture even when using the strobes on a low power. Then came the Nd filter and I was able to shoot with nice shallow depth of field.
I have been using Hoya filters alongside with the Lee system for quite a long time now and they never let me down. Sometimes, when I know exactly what is needed for a certain picture I don't want to carry the whole Lee system with me. I believe it is worth the money and helps me to pack light if needed (especially if you have lenses with with the same filter size) and sincerely I could hardly notice any difference in picture quality.
Arrived quickly. Original unopened product. I have used it with my Olympus OMD EM10. Works a treat. I have the 6 and 10 stop filters. At this price it is worth the effort to get them and practice long exposure shots particularly for landscape photos. Need to research a bit first on how to use them but plenty of info on Utube.
Firstly, I would say I can only review this product used on a Sony A77 and Fuji X100S (with adapter ring). Other camera sensors may behave differently. The Hoya has just a slight shift to the warm side, typically from WB 6000k to 5500k which is very easy to correct in Lightroom etc. I can use the cameras on auto WB without issue. No discernible colour cast, no rainbows, crosses that appear from variable ND filters, and no additional vignette. The camera's light meter judges the Hoya to be 9 stops, not 10.Very pleased with it after prolonged problems with a Tiffen ND3 10 stop filter. (Un-correctable colour shift etc.)No such issues with the Hoya!
This has a reddish colour cast when it shouldnt affect colour at all. I simply dont know if Hoya quality control is poor or even if this is a Hoya at all. The colour cast is consistent, and yes, I am just OC enough to compare with and without to make certain. This can be corrected, especially with RAW files, but it shouldnt have to be. As it happens I need it now and theres no time to look elsewhere. The thing is, at 41, it isnt cheap. I do wonder if it is genuine as I have older Hoyas that are all fine.
After reading reviews on this (and similar) filters I was prepared for color cast issues etc.. Upon using this I was actually pleasantly surprised. I hardly noticed any (if but just a slight blue cast) which could easily be corrected in post or by changing the Wb in camera. It appears that this filter comes from the same distributor in Melbourne as the sigmas (of which I recently purchased the 24 art f1.4) hence, the low price they are able to sell these for - included a free usb drive! All-in-all, hugely impressed.
Hoya top quality, thin construction with minimum to nil vignetting - a bit pricey but well worth the wait until you can afford such quality. Without wishing to teach anybody to suck eggs, it is important to sort out the meter readings, focussing and settings before attaching to the lens as you will have no chance of seeing through the filter it is that dark. To correct the exposure I use 'LongTime' app on my Iphone which is simple to operate and is reasonably accurate or I will simply go for trial and error taking numerous images.Improved my results ref long exposure scenic views and if you after the milky water look of romantic waterfalls/rivers you will not be disappointed. Top service from Wex as always.
