I am a photojournalist, but my personal work is on the Leica M Monochrom or B&W film with an M6. I am a purist using contrast filters on my work rather than the digital darkroom - green works great getting just the contrast I need for my landscape work and for a bit of smoothing on skin tones.
A very simple solution for marathon printing sessions. If you want more complex information there are other exposure meter options that would be better suited. If all you want is a base exposure to save on test strips and test printing time- this is a solid start
HOYA HMC Filters are one of the best values you will find on E-bay. Have you seen what these things cost new? The Multi-Coated optics are well made and very effective. I use them for Lens protection, they are built like a tank - very hard to scratch and easy to clean.
Bought this primarily to protect the automatic lens shutter of a sony camcorder. Past cameras with such shutters have failed due to damage or contamination and I wanted to prevent that.
I shoot Black & White, even with my digital cameras. There is no substitute for a colored contrast filter for adjusting/manipulating the rendering of similarly reflective but differently colored objects in a B&W image. Since I began in photography, this filter has been my preferred brand.
It's not a slim frame therefore it can take a beating. I'm replacing a VIVITAR that was destroyed in a strap failure. It had to be cut off but no harm to lens or camera. The coating is easy to clean and resists dirt. Be aware when stacking filters of the increased depth, especially on wide angle lenses.
