Good, non-reflective glass, and well machined threads. I don't know whether the Antistatic coating is truly such. For UV and Clear filters, I don't want to spend big bucks for what is a sacrificial protection for the much more expensive front element. Recommended.

This is a good filter. It offers basic protection for the from of my lens. Basically, if the lens gets hit hard in the front, or gets scratched, the $90 filter will get scratched or hit and not the $1500 lens. I bought this filter because it was a little bit more expensive but I believe I have better light transmission through the filter and better lens coatings than a cheaper filter.

I recently purchased the Olympus 12-100mm f.4 Pro lens used, and it didn’t include a UV filter, surprisingly, so I decided to shop around. Yes, there are plenty of cheap options available online, but with a lens filter you get what you pay for, more often than not. So upon learning that this item repels dust particles in the air, making it incredibly convenient to clean, I couldn’t resist. Thankfully, so far it has lived up to the promise. I would recommend this filter to anyone willing to pay a little extra.
I am in the camp of using only 1st rate clear filters to protect a1st rate lens. The cost of this high-quality filter was less than theVa state sales tax (5%) on the Canon lens it protects, including B&Hfree overnight shipping to my door. The anti-static properties ofthis filter mean that I clean it a lot less often than anyof my other filters and it also means the lens front element is cleaned even fewer times.
I've been using these clear filters on all my lenses of whatever size. Unfortunately I can't always find the exact size I need, so I have to substitute with another brand. Other brands are sometimes as good but not often.They fit well, and the coatings are so good that I can barely see the protector when it is mounted on the lens. The antistatic aspect seems to keep the filter cleaner too.I have not seen any impact on image quality.I prefer a clear filter rather than a UV filter in order to avoid any issues with color, relative to not using a filter at all. This way, my lens works at its best.
I bought an 82mm Hoya CPL two years ago for my Nikon 24 to 70mm f/2.8 lens because B+W filters were out of stock. Last week I was on the Pacific Ocean photographing pods of dolphins. After working for ten minutes or so, I reached to over to adjust adjust the CPL filter and discovered that it was no longer on the lens. I can only assume that the screw threads disengaged from my lens and that it now resides in over 1,000-feet of water. I had experienced trouble with it since day one because of its problematic screw threads. Either it jammed and was difficult to unscrew or it loosened up during a shoot. For that reason I cannot recommend Hoya CPL's and will replace it with a B+W filter.
I've had this on my camera for over a week now and I can verify that the Antistatic properties do actually repel dust, etc. Another lens I've been using during the same period and that started out clean is indeed dusty now (I'd say a slight to moderate amount). At this point the Hoya has absolutely no dust at all. I haven't shot enough with the new filter to be able to compare optical clarity with my other filters, but I did take a few test shots with and without the Hoya filter. I can say there is no color shift at all in those shots. In this regard I'd say this filter is probably comparable to any of my Zeiss UV filters.
I have no doubt that this is a state-of-the-art, excellent clear filter. I purchased this to protect the front of a very expensive lens. The philosophy is that I would rather have to clean or even replace a filter than suffer damage to the front element of a costly lens. And one would be foolish to put a filter of bottle glass quality in front of any lens, let alone a premium optic. That said, I really do not know what the right level of quality/price for a protective filter should be. I suspect that this filter represents overkill, in a way, and I could have gotten away (at least 99.5% worth) with something cheaper. I am tired to morons opening up the case and handling the filter and greasing it up with oils and other bodily fluids from their fingers, and exposing it to dust and debris in the store.Since Hoya seals their product, I can rest somewhat assured that the product is in a somewhat sterile state, or as close to manufacturing state.Other than that, the quality is also nice. The threads catch accurately, and it mounts on evenly and snugly. So far it has not jammed up on me during removal. The rim feels sturdy, and is pretty slim.The bad part is that smudges do not remove easily. They tend to get embedded, or smear when wiped.
