Not a fan. I’ve only used it a couple of times, but I get a perfect circle in the middle of all of my pictures. I have been in dark areas, and I seem to get less stars with it than I do without. Maybe it needs the light pollution, I don’t know.

First I will say its the only filter of this type I have ever owned but the difference in the shots with and without the filter mounted are amazing.

I was a bit sceptical of this type of filter, but watched some reviews on it, and took the plunge. I'm so glad I did. It makes a noticeable difference in lessening light pollution when shooting at night, especially with astrophotography. I can highly recommend this product! It is getting more difficult (especially for hobby photographers) to get to places that are ideal for astrophotography. This filter makes it better to use in areas that are not ideal, and get great results.

Great it is a Hoya. Works like a champ and does it?s job exactly as it should.
Absolutely fantastic filter. Now I have it I, night time photography is awesome
Great filter for portrait shots. Always use Good filters as you do not need cheap glass on a good lens, kind of defeats the purpose of a good lens
One of the Best Portrait filters out there. Just makes me look like a professional photographer, which I am Not.
Excellent option to capture beautiful out of the camera results
Works well. I use it for Astro Photography to filter city light pollution. A dew heater strip might be needed to keep dew off if using at night.
This filter worked about as I expected it to - the build quality is good and it threads onto the lens smoothly, and it worked as advertised at substantially reducing the yellow light reflected from light pollution in town off some contrails in the night scene I was photographing. It doesn't magically remove all the light pollution like a narrow-band filter would, but it did admirably at what it was advertised to do. The reduced yellow light gives the images a purple hue that I need to work on compensating for, but that's an expected and desired effect.

Hoya 77mm Starscape Filter
Designed for night scape photography, the HOYA STARSCAPE filter reduces light pollution generated by artificial lights common in cities. The HOYA STARSCAPE cuts light transmission in the area of the spectrum that is usually associated with light pollution from Sodium and Mercury-vapor lights common to most cities world-wide. Thus, the filter provides a more clear image with natural colors and improved contrast in the night sky. The filter cuts off in the most natural way the transmission of light spectrum that is frequently presented in city environments and usually associated with Sodium and Mercury-vapor lights. Other similar filters that cut light pollution by special glass coating can produce color shift especially when used with wide or super wide angle lenses. The HOYA STARSCAPE filter achieves the same result by using a special glass formula, thus no color shift occurs even at wide or super wide angles. The main genre of utilization of the HOYA STARSCAPE filter is night landscape where the ground and sky are positioned in one composition. The natural colors the sky are truthfully reproduced while other objects left unaffected. The HOYA STARSCAPE filter is quite helpful in time lapse shooting. By cutting light pollution directly during the shooting process, the amount of time necessary in post processing will be significantly reduced.
