I bought this to replace an existing HP Pavilion laptop. Having used the new machine for a few weeks its limitations are a little irritating. The lack of an RJ45 internet connector is something I can work around, but I had assumed that all laptops came with this, well they did. The lack of USB ports is the main bugbear, but seems to be common problem on laptops. I should have checked the specification more carefully. The biggest issue though is the keyboard. It feels very flimsy, a bit like something on a child's toy. I find it irritating to use as it moves when a key is pressed. It definitely gives the impression that it will not last long. The performance is fine, but not great, but it is a budget machine, so about right for the price. Since buying the laptop three weeks ago I always have trouble connecting to the internet when starting up or after the laptop has been dormant for a while. The laptop sees and connects to the router but says there is no internet connection (which there is as all other devices are using it OK). If I restart the laptop it then connects fine. This is getting tedious. When using the HP help function you need to spend a long time trying to get through to someone even though you have a case ref but it is at least half an hour into the conversation anyone (useless bot included) seems to be interested on the info already lodged on the case. After that you still need to give the same info as on past calls. Getting very unhappy with hp and the whole process. I wish I had bought elsewhere

Bought to replace a similar but older device which simply wore out and died. This thing is a poor replacement, in many ways a downgrade. It doesn't have a CD/DVD player. It's predecessor did, and I built up a small collection of irreplaceable files and vintage films etc which are very important to me. Yes, I am well aware that the world has moved on to 'streaming' and such, but the CD/DVDs still exist.

Needed a basic laptop for home use and after looking round I chose this HP model and have not been disappointed.Being fitted with a SSD drive it operates at a speed I have never encountered before with my old laptop. Start up and shut down is now measured in single figure seconds rather than the 5 to 10 minutes (honestly) on my old model.Shopping around I found that the HP store was selling it cheaper than anywhere else I saw on the internet, which was a nice bonus, and delivery was excellent. For a basic machine this has been way above my expectations and I am very pleased I chose it.
The laptop was delivered quickly and on the day I was told it was arriving.I am a complete tech idiot but with a little help this was quite easy to set up but I am still getting used to it and finding where things are. So far I don't have any negative things to say. It is very quick! It might be a bit basic for some, I honestly don't know as I went by other reviews before making my purchase and it is for personal use only. My criteria for my new laptop were price and storage, I then went looking for what seemed to be the best value for money for what I had decided I wanted to pay. At the time I made my purchase this item was on offer on the HP website and had good reviews so I bought it :)
I bought this slightly larger spec machine - i5, 8Gb ram and 512gb hard drive - because I do use excel, publisher, PowerPoint and outlook and wanted to be sure it could handle it. Smaller specs seem to be just for surfing the web.I am surprised that I have to run Norton utilities a lot to clear out a lot of windows junk files and registry issues and to solve a low memory problem. I find this surprising since it is hardly overloaded. I probably run the utilities once a day and each time it finds plenty of junk files and memory issues to resolve.Otherwise, it seems to run fine, much faster than my older HP (6 years old).
Purchased early April 2024. A really good laptop with a very fast processor i5 1235U, programmes load and operate fast. Lightweight with a clear keyboard, caps lock has a little light on the key (why don't all makers do this?) so useful. Good storage 512gb SSD and 8gb memory. Everything positive so far. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a good value fast laptop. You can pay a lot more for a slower laptop.
This replaced my old HP Pavilion laptop which had become very sluggish on start-up. Very impressed with the start-up on this model, graphics are nice and clear and the laptop is easy to navigate.Love the silver keyboard with decent sized letters. Nice sound from the built-in speakers too.Much lighter than my old laptop and recharge is very quick, is there a downside??Well to date I have not discovered one!!Very happy with my new purchase, looking forward to having it on my desk for the continuing future.
I have purchased the laptop with a mouse but when I opened the mouse to put the battery in, there was no usb connector inside the mouse. I called to the technic support and described my situation. I was told that they would send me another mouse. One week later not receiving any mail I called again to the technich support. That time I was told that I should ask to sales department. Okay, I call to sales department. I was asking the same questions. Like nobody wanded to solve my problem. I was treated like I was escaped from the forest and never saw the laptop or mouse. I was asked questions like are you sure it was no usb connector in it? Of course I am surre, I have seen mouses before! This time I was told that they cannot send me another mouse because that mouse ... MoreI have purchased the laptop with a mouse but when I opened the mouse to put the battery in, there was no usb connector inside the mouse. Are you kidding? Every time I am calling, I am receiving anouther answers to the same question!!!!!!
I bought this laptop over a month ago. At first I was disappointed by the loud and consistent fan noise but the HP team managed to exchange that item for another one, and the second laptop is much quieter. It works incredibly quickly, practically no lag, plus the keyboard is very comfy to type with. The battery life is nowhere near the advertised 7 hours - it's more like 2h when doing some light browsing. But I'll take it. I got the product at a discount so it's worth the money. Finally, the exchange process was extremely slow - about two weeks in total from asking for a return.
