The power brick for this monitor is tiny, though, so it should tuck away easily. The stand is height adjustable from basically sitting on the desk to 5 1/2 inches off the desk. The monitor does tilt forward and backward, so it's easy to find a comfortable position for it.Input options are limited with a single HDMI and a VGA port (2024?). There is no DisplayPort input, though that should not be a problem at all - the 1080p resolution and 100Hz refresh rate are not going to push a capable HDMI connection beyond its limits. VGA on the back seems like a silly thing to have on a modern monitor, but it does allow you to use a VGA or DVI output from your computer, so it should be compatible with machines going way back in time. The ports are aligned horizontally (sticking straight out of the back of the monitor), which is less than ideal, most monitors now will have their ports set vertically, so there is much less strain on the connection and the monitor looks better from behind. The ports sticking straight out the back means they need to be checked for any cable tension at the connector to avoid easily damaging the port making the monitor unusable. The IPS panel is bright with vivid colors and strong blacks, and the IPS panel has a wide viewable area, it doesn’t get dim when you aren’t looking at it dead on. This size monitor with the resolution at 1080p is the lowest I would use if you’re working with a lot of text. I found the screen sluggish to update, scrolling is not smooth like one would expect from a higher refresh rate monitor. I messed around with the “response time” setting, and it did not improve much, but it did make the text look awful. This is an internet and video watching monitor, gaming is not good here, and there are other options at the same price that would be more appropriate for gaming. There is not HDR support, but with the contrast and vivid colors on this screen, I don't think you'll miss anything.Overall, I would call this an entry-level monitor, for an everyday computer user, you will not need anything fancier. If you intend to play any games more involved than Solitaire, I would look toward a gaming focused monitor; don’t buy this thinking it will do any better because it’s specced for 100Hz, the pokey response time and ghosty picture will be a disappointment. Every piece of hardware is a mélange of compromises, especially when building to a price.I would recommend it for a price conscious basic use scenario of web surfing and watching video.

This was a bit awkward to me. I could make the connection easily but when I tried to hand tighten the screw (with the same pup up handle to tighten it) it was very awkward for me to get my fingers on the screw to tighten it. This was the only awkward issue I came across, seems there needs to be a better place for the screw. I am including pictures so you can see where it is tight and hard to reach. But once it was secured, everything was super easy to use.Once I had the monitor secured to the base, I was able to plug in the power cable and the hdmi cable (both included in the box) and immediately i was connected to my laptop. The image was crisp and clear. The monitor is SUPER easy to adjust. It has both a tilt feature so you can get your viewing angle just right, and it has a vertical height adjustment. All you do is pull up or push down on the back of the connection arm and the monitor moves to the desired height with ease. There is even a built in cable manager on the back of the stand as well. Native resolution is 1920 x 1080 with 1500 to 1 contrast ratio. Colors look awesome. Works with Chromebooks and the viewing angle is 178 degrees. You can see this from practically any angle. I am considering a second one to have dual monitors but for now this is perfect for my home work (and play) space.

What is that you ask? According to HP "Keeps your eyes comfortable through the work day with HP Eye Ease, our first built-in, always-on blue light filter that presents your vivid content with zero impact on your color accuracy, no OSD required."Overall - very happy with the monitor. The Hight and tilt adjustable stand is awesome - although perhaps sticks out (toward me) more that I would expect (see side profile picture). That's my main reason for the 4 stars vs 5.

Decent but pricy

The short and sweet - It's a nice-looking 24 inch-class (23.8 inches viewable) 1080p monitor that hits a lot of points in terms of features - 100 Hz fast refresh rate, bright panel, decent color, and smooth visuals. This is balanced out by the color balance not being the greatest (especially in the greens), no adaptive refresh rate technology for tear-free visuals while gaming, no VESA mounting options, a VGA port instead of a second HDMI or a DisplayPort port, black levels that aren't particularly great with the brightness turned up, and an external power brick instead of internal power.Unboxing and setup:This went pretty quickly. HP's packaging for their basic monitors is, well, basic, but gets the job done. The stand assembles quickly with two thumbscrews, and the panel snaps into place. There's the included power supply with power cord and a pretty solid HDMI cable as well - if you're wanting this monitor for a computer with a VGA port, you'll need to pick up a VGA cable if you don't already have one.Aesthetically, this is a nice-looking monitor. 3 sides are "bezel-less", and the bottom chin's silver plastic does look classy. The surfaces have the look of aluminum, but are plastic. The menu system is easy to navigate with four buttons on the lower right side of the screen. There are tons of adjustments, from the basic brightness and contrast to color levels, black levels, response time, and even sharpness (rare for a computer monitor). To enable this monitor's marquee feature - the high refresh rate - you'll need a compatible graphics solution. Most video cards and integrated graphics chips made in the last 5 years should support this feature without issue. As long as this requirement is meant, you'll just need to go into the Settings app in Windows, under Display, then Advance Display at the bottom to Choose the 100 Hz refresh rate. For my fellow Mac users, it's a similar process - Go to the System Preferences app, click on Display, and the refresh rate should be immediately accessible.I did play a little Doom Eternal and some Resident Evil 4, and tested with the UFO blur test. While there was a little ghosting on the screen in the dark scenes and in the UFO test set to high speed, the bigger problem was how the black levels were crushed by blacklight bleed. Turning down the brightness helped here, as did playing with the black stretch and making sure it was set for full-range visuals over the more television-like limited setting. Games like the Doom and Resident Evil series, along with other FPS games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, and horror-type games like Five Night at Freddy's and The Last of Us Part One need those more complete black levels for more immersive gameplay.Productivity is where this screen shines. Text is crystal clear, spreadsheets are easily readable, and surfing the web is smooth as butter.Video and photo editing is also decent on this screen, but you'll need to calibrate the display's color to get accurate results.Criticisms:So first and foremost, my biggest gripe with this display is the power supply isn't integrated. It's easier to manage a power cord than a power supply. No VESA mount also limits the options you have with this screen, especially if you want a portrait display. The lack of Adaptive Frame Rate - either generic, FreeSync, or G-Sync - is also disappointing, as I did have several games run faster than 100 fps, which resulted in some frame tearing. Also, it's 2024 - why do we still have VGA on a consumer-class display? Finally, I feel the price is high for the feature set of this monitor. Conclusion:It's a decent screen but lacks features you can find in competing screens for similar prices. The menu system is easy to use and featureful, but only a single HDMI port limits your connectivity. Gaming is okay outside of dark scenes, video and photo editing need display calibration, productivity is great though. Get it if it's on sale or matches your HP computer.

Fantastic monitor in so many ways!

Full disclosure-- I am a huge HP fan for printers, computers, laptops and MONITORS. This monitor is just perfect because it ticks so many boxers for me: the color is fabulous, the monitor lightweight, the screen is one-quarter inch thick and it is easily adjustable vertically. Also, the 'adjustment' buttons are on the lower right-hand side, which is way more convenient than the ones on the back or sides.I received the monitor via delivery and it was sturdily packed and damage-free. Opening the box, there was little for me to do other than mount the lightweight screen on the stand. the stand is pretty heavy, so it will stay where you put it and the monitor is unlikely to tip over. Then, just plug and play! I used an HDMI cord to connect it to my dock, but it can be directly connected to a computer via HDMI or VGA. Included were the power cord and a new HDMI cord.I work from home and have a 32" HP desktop all-in-one, so this monitor looks great with that and allows me to have a lot of screenspace. I like the thinness of the monitor, as well as the super-narrow 'edge' on the left, top and right. This not only looks sleek, but also uses maximum screen for display. This monitor also has low blue light emission, so that should be easier on the eyes!As mentioned the controls for changing settings on the monitor are easy to access at the lower right. you will find power button on the far right. choosing any other button to the left gives you a quick click to all settings. You use the button under the indicated operation to change things. Easy!Overall, this monitor exceeded my expectations, which were high! I needed more screen space and this monitor fills the bill on performance, style, cost, size and function.

What a world of difference the HP Series 5 monitor has made for me in only a short period of time! One of my personal computers is a 14-inch laptop, and while I appreciate the size for its portability, working on such a small screen can sometimes be frustrating. This has been true for me the last few months when I purchased a Cricut machine which I use this laptop exclusively for. The 14-inch screen was not cutting it when utilizing Cricut Design Space to create projects. I needed a monitor that gave me better visibility and allowed me to work more efficiently. This HP 24” monitor has exponentially increased my productivity and enjoyment of using my Cricut to craft and, in general, my computer.Out of the box, the base and stand needed to be connected. No tools were required as HP cleverly manufactured built-in screws that are screwed in by hand. The base is nice and heavy and the screen is very light. The two components complement each other perfectly and provide excellent stability. Within 5 minutes the monitor was assembled and ready for use. Before even turning on the monitor I could not contain my excitement over the adjustable stand. Being able to adjust the height of the monitor is incredible on its own, but HP makes the feature an effortlessly quick and smooth motion that can be accomplished with one hand. Tilting the monitor requires a little more finesse as two hands are required, but it’s just as simple to adjust and another great feature for HP to have included. After plugging in the power source and connecting the HDMI to my laptop, turning on the monitor was surreal. The frameless edge-to-edge screen was immediately and beautifully displaying my laptop’s desktop. The controls underneath the screen, which I appreciate are physical buttons, were easy to find and very comprehensive to use. Other than adjusting the brightness, the monitor was configured to what I was comfortable with. The monitor’s display, resolution and colors are clear and crisp. I turned on Cricut Design Space and was blown away by what I had been missing from using a small screen. The 24” screen gives me more than enough space to work and create without having to shrink the screen or constantly scroll side to side and up and down. When using other programs, it has been very nice using snap screen to have two windows displayed side-by-side with both windows being large enough to display all of their content. The monitor’s low blue light gives me peace of mind as I spend hours staring at the screen, especially when I am in crafting mode.Although the monitor is not intended to be a gaming monitor, I connected my older Xbox One X and the display still looks really good at this resolution. The 100 Hz refresh rate works perfectly fine for me. When using Xbox, the only downside I found to the monitor is that it does not have an AUX port to connect speakers. I have alternative methods of having sound when I play Xbox, so while the lack of an audio port is unfortunate, it is not a critical feature for my intended use of the monitor. If anything, the fact that I can use my Xbox is unexpected and a huge plus.Overall, I am overwhelmed by the quality of the HP 24” Series 5 monitor. Not only has my enjoyment increased when it comes to crafting, but even after a long day of sitting in front of a computer for work, I’m eager and excited to get in front of my computer to complete even the most basic and mundane tasks. It is a game-changer!

Good all-around monitor
13 March 2024

This is a very good 24” LED monitor with a bright display, vivid colors, excellent viewing angles (both vertically and laterally), and minimal bezels. It’s FHD, so the maximum resolution is 1080p. Refresh rate is up to 100 Hz, making the display smooth and flicker-free.There are only two input ports available: HDMI and VGA. This is pretty basic, but should fit the needs of the average user. Access to the ports is easy, which should not be ignored -- I’ve dealt with monitors in the past that had ridiculous port placement, making insertion or removal of plugs an ordeal.Height and vertical viewing angle adjustment are easy as well, with a pretty good range. This can be especially helpful for those using a standing desk setup. Time will tell if things will get looser, but for now, adjustments stay exactly as set.Build quality seems excellent. The monitor housing is sturdy plastic with a nice texture, and the stand is solid metal, giving a good amount of stability. And despite the composition of the stand, the whole monitor is pretty lightweight. My one concern so far is that in the one week I’ve had to test this monitor, I’ve noticed a few times that the signal drops for about a second. The HDMI cable I initially tried was an older one that had been lying around, so it’s possible that the cable was the problem -- I changed it to the HDMI cable that came with the monitor, and so far the signal drops haven’t recurred. Hopefully it was just a problem with the older cable, but if it happens again with the included cable, I’ll update this review.Overall, this should be an excellent monitor for most users. Hardcore gamers may want something with higher resolution and even higher refresh rate, but for typical day-to-day use, it should fit the bill.

Really Solid Monitor that works with Chromebook
13 March 2024

Having a really solid monitor is an integral thing for everyone's work flow or day to day use of computers. For me this really nice 23.8' HP Monitor has a really nice and useable display. The overall design of the monitor is really sleek and thin. There are barely any edges around the screen which I really like as well to provide more screen real estate. I have hooked up my MacBook Pro to this monitor, a windows PC and also a Chromebook to the monitor and all of them work really well. I am particularly happy that Chromebooks work flawlessly with this monitor. I can see this being the perfect monitor for students who are using Chromebooks for schooling and need a secondary screen. The monitor has 100Hz refresh rates which is noticeably quick. The height adjustment with this monitor is also particularly good to get the perfect viewing height. One thing important to note is that this monitor uses two types of inputs....HDMI and mini display port. Finding a monitor in 2024 with a mini display port is few and far between. With that said, in my opinion, this is a perfect monitor upgrade for companies and offices that are using older monitors / computers with mini display or VGA ports who need to upgrade monitors.Overall, I am satisfied with this monitor and I think you will be too.

Sleek Look with Great Picture Quality
8 March 2024

This monitor is perfect for my needs and just the right size. It is sleek, smooth, and simple in appearance, allowing it to blend into any kind of surroundings in which it is placed. I have used it to stream movies with my streaming device, and for its main purpose, as a monitor for my daughter’s school Chromebook.First and foremost, set up was quick and simple, it took all of five minutes to get it set up and ready. It feels very well-made and does not weight much. It has an adjustable height with a lot of variability in how high and low it goes. It does not, however, have any tilting capabilities. There are four buttons on the bottom right, a power button, buttons for up and down, and a menu button. On the back there are 2 ports, one for VGA, and one for HDMI. ... MoreThis monitor is perfect for my needs and just the right size. There are four buttons on the bottom right, a power button, buttons for up and down, and a menu button. On the back there are 2 ports, one for VGA, and one for HDMI. The stand contains a cable organizer, which really helps keep the wires from looking messy and getting tangled. This monitor is Eyesafe certified 2.0, meaning it emits lower levels of blue light while still providing vivid colors. I can attest that this is true, I watched movies with a lot of color and did not see any diminished effect on the quality of the picture nor the vibrancy of the colors. The only thing I noticed was the blacks were not as dark, but that is pretty standard in monitors. It worked exceptionally well at streaming movies; the picture was high quality and smooth. One thing to note is that there is no built-in speaker, so it does not work well as a standalone monitor for streaming movies or shows. Of course, this could be circumvented by using an HDMI audio extractor. My main use for this monitor is to provide a larger screen for my daughter to do her schoolwork on. Her school assigned Chromebook’s screen is incredibly small and inconvenient and this monitor allows her to work with more screen space while also reducing the amount of blue light she is subject to. Since schools require online work both in class and at home, anything that reduces eye strain is beneficial. I did have to get an HDMI to USB-C connection in order to connect the Chromebook to the monitor. Once connected, everything worked seamlessly, which is to be expected because this monitor is advertised as "compatible with Chromebook." My daughter is over the moon at having so much more screen space to work on and everything is simple enough for her to understand.I really cannot find any shortcomings to this monitor. It is a simple, affordable, and sleek monitor with great picture quality that can serve many needs. At 100Hz refresh rate, it can even serve as a casual gaming monitor remarkably well. I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for one.

VIBRANT COLORS and CRISP IMAGES
10 March 2024

I have some time to play around with this monitor, from watching movies, gaming and just plain surfing the web. The design is crisp and clean, minimal border and extremely thin and light. The color is great, the OLED lighting is great and the monitor has not let me down. The refresh rate is 100hz and good for gaming and streaming, along with the OLED color range makes very nice picture quality and i haven't noticed any ghosting or trailing. The versatility of the monitor is pretty wide, the monitor itself can be placed in portrait or landscape orientation. It has a small footprint so it does not take up much space. Overall it has a very nice color, crispness, sharpness to the images. It has a small footprint and weigh very little making it easy to move around. The downside is the limited connections but I you just need one input connection and a very good monitor I would highly recommend it.
