Personally, because of the size, I would prefer a higher resolution for sharper visuals. I do video and photo editing as a hobby, and this monitor would not be my favorite because of the resolution limitations. However, it’s a great monitor to watch movies, surf the web and do basic work such as emailing and preparing reports; it has beautiful colors that you can customize with the adjustable contrast, color and black levels. Also, the refresh rate rate can be adjusted up to 100 Hz which is perfect for movies, smoother scrolling and playing light games. Another option I like is the HP Eye Ease that filters out blue light thus reducing eye strain. I’ve used it several times and it really helps. I wish it had integrated speakers especially with a monitor that size; it would have been more convenient than using headphones or external speakers.In my opinion, the HP Series 5 532sf is a well-rounded monitor for everyday tasks, casual entertainment, productivity work and browsing. That large clear display offers a smoother refresh rate, some eye care features, good color accuracy, and a modern design. The design profile of this monitor is simple, thin & light & aesthetically pleasing from every angle. On the back side are 2 HDMI 1.4 ports & a 15-pin VGA connector.As many hours as I spend in front of my monitors working on projects, I’m grateful for HP’s anti-glare & Eye Ease feature w/Eyesafe certification to help limit the amount of blue light I’m exposed to. Although I try not to work on my computer for at least 1 full hour before bedtime, I can’t say that I’ve noticed any improved sleep with this display, but I have noticed a little less eyestrain at night.Overall, this is a pretty standard monitor which is suitable for home use or small business owners like us. It looks good, but the specs aren’t noteworthy, much less exceptional. It gets the job done but it’s not a performance monitor, & I wouldn’t use it for gaming or digital video editing. It’s functional, but not special.

This will not win any fashion statements, but is a nice looking monitor with practical stand for a wide range of adjustments. The stand is very sturdy and the monitor sits well on a desk without it feeling unstable. Supposedly, it is made from recycles materials so it is somewhat environmentally friendly, if that is important to you. The instructions come with clear pictures and in different languages. I was able to set it up within few minutes from removing it from the box. As suggested, I also install the HP Display Center on the laptop. I don't like this type of connection nor am I a fan of thin power cables. Again this is more of a "me" thing and your feelings my be different but I felt it worth mentioning.Packaging is excellent and I applaud HP for including a HDMI cable in the box. The fact that it's got a cable channel on the back to pull all the cables together in one spot is also nice, since it avoids the problem of wire spaghetti. I'm also a fan of the thin bottom bezel not wrapping around the whole monitor.Overall, it's a really good monitor, and I rather like it. It's versatile and nice to look at, and I really appreciate the night mode. I'd definitely recommend it, as long as you have the desk space.

Part of the reason is that it's a bigger screen, though it's mostly because of the contrast and black levels. It also features an easy-to-assemble stand that can tilt to your preference quite a bit.I had read that VA LED displays tend to be both higher quality (when viewed directly from the front) and lower quality (when viewed from an angle), but from what I could tell in the room I’m in with this monitor, I'm getting high-quality views from most viewing angles (unless I went far to the side and looked at the screen).If you do software development or anything where you need to fit a lot of text on the screen, you may want to keep an alternate higher-resolution display available - but for me, this will work well as a second display (using a USB-C to HDMI connector I purchased at Best Buy). For example, I'll use it for things like watching videos or having a 2nd screen during online meetings. I found it helpful to keep one FHD screen like this connected and accessible for when I do remote meetings and want to share a screen. Whenever I share my WQHD screen (my other monitor), people in the meeting can complain that everything looks "too small to read" on their end, so this screen size/resolution (if I share the screen) should help reduce meeting complaints (tested this in a meeting, and yes it’s true). Set up as a second display, I am also now able to share a screen and view video of the attendee(s) at the same time with this setup.As per if I recommend it, it depends on your needs. Normally, I would recommend having at least one higher-resolution display for people like me who do a lot of coding (wanting to fit more in less space). However, for video, for people who need larger screens (vision issues, like me who wears prescription eyeglasses), or for people who want to maybe enjoy streaming videos or video games, I would recommend this HP monitor. I am writing this review on two different HP monitor models, so obviously I can recommend the brand because I use them for displays, computers, and printers.

On the bottom left side of the front of the monitor, it says 100Hz (the box states 100Hz refresh rate), 3 sided borderless, tilt, low blue light and 31.5 diagonal length. This is great for me because I am constantly looking at a screen and I am definitely going to switch this out with one of my monitors in the home office. The quick start guide says that the maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 100Hz. When you manually turn on the monitor-the setting will be set to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz and the input is automatically set to auto-switch input as on. The monitor will be able to detect the device that is plugged in and turned on (power save option).The visuals on the monitor is pretty good with the included HDMI cord. I was able to watch videos and use it for work and I love how big the screen is. There is an app for the monitor that is in the Microsoft Store that will allow you make changes to the settings or you can use the buttons on the bottom of the right side (front) of the monitor. I ended up using the buttons on the monitor more because I love how there are arrows and check marks to assist with moving around in the settings menu to adjust the settings. I normally don’t adjust settings on a monitor, so I am learning the different items in the menu. There is a blue light setting which is also new to me and you will definitely notice a change in the view. I would also like to note that when I watched videos, the sound went to my laptop.Overall, I am very excited to have a newer larger screen and I am definitely impressed with the design because there is a bulky back. I would definitely recommend this monitor to friends and family.

That means the screen itself is very thin and light, the bezel very small and and setup is super easy. A small tilting riser simply clicks into place and it is joined to an elegant metal stand with a single screw. Even better you don't even a screwdriver to tighten it down. A flip up handle on the screw head means you can tighten it with your bare hands. All assemblies should be this easy.All mointor settings are via hidden push buttons under the lower right corner of the screen. I have never been a fan of this approach, since it makes navigating the various menu options difficult. But this setup is now typical on almost all computer monitors.The range of settings are fairly typical, except perhaps for HP's EyeEase option, which is supposed filter out blue light and reduce eye discomfort. This is of marginal value in my view since recent studies indicate blue light from computer moinitors is not anything you need to worry about. But it's there if you want to try it.For what is worth, I found the out-of-the box image settings on this monitor were excellent and required no additional tweaking. Colors were bright and vivid. Contrast was very good. Images were nice and sharp.Input options on this monitor are limited to two HDMI and one VGA port (does anyone really still use those?) It would be nice if HP would add a DisplayPort option since that is all that is available on some newer computers. But low-cost adapters make it easy to get around that issue. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable.Overall, the HP Series 5 532f is a very good monitor, providing me very little to complain about except maybe the price.
