The HP Omen 34c is a pretty nice chunk of desktop real estate! The resolution seems to be perfectly suited to the monitor's size and colors and clarity are pretty good right out of the box. I fiddled around with the menus a bit and found the "T" style buttons to be very easy to use. The layout allows easy configuration without trying to figure out which button is "Save" and which is "Back" like some monitors are still using.I had to remove a small light I had on my desk above my old monitor just to fit this beast under the shelf. It has about 3/8" above it when in its lowest setting! Having two HDMI and a DisplayPort socket allows a wide range of devices to be connected and is an easy switch using the above-mentioned buttons. I replaced a curved display that took me a while to get used to, but this one seems like the next logical step in monitors from the previous one.The wide display allows a very immersive game experience and the high refresh rate keeps things very clear, even in the middle of action sequences. When using regular applications (yes, I do have to do real work once in a while), the huge screen can have two high-resolution windows open side by side and doesn't feel cramped at all.I played around with the HDR setting and found it to add a bit of brightness at just the right times, unlike some other models I have tried where the colors and objects seem washed out and over-brightened. The image doesn't bleed out at the edges or loose any quality in any part of the display, despite the large size and curve.I am very happy with this monitor, and can already imagine a second (or third) one allowing truly wrap-around gaming experiences! I had two of my young grandsons over today and they were excited to play several driving games on it since they say it looks so real! This resolution allows a full view of the action as if they are looking through a windshield in a real car, instead fo half of one like most monitors allow. The days of flat, "small" monitors are going to be a thing of the past if more and more of these kind of gems are produced. Years ago, I would have laughed if someone said I would have a weird shaped, curved monitor like this some day. Today, I have a hard time going back to even my flat 4K screen on my main work computer. The shape of this screen is truly useful, even if you don't do any gaming at all... but you would be hard-pressed to keep yourself from playing at least a little bit! The more i use it, the more comfortable I get with looking back and forth, and the quality of the image is very easy on the eyes!

The HP OMEN 34c QHD Curved Gaming Monitor is the first curved gaming monitor I've used, and it really is a game changer, far more than I ever expected. I always thought they were some sort of gimmick.First of all, out of the box, you have everything that you need to get set up. The power cord and a display port to display port cabe are included. Putting the monitor together is really easy, lay it down, slide the decorative panel over the arm of the mount, clip the arm in place, clip in the decorative cover and then attach the base. A simple screw with a little handle on it, rotate it and the base is solid. You have control over the height and angle forward or backwards, but not left to right, you actually have to move the base to move it left or right, there is ... MoreThe HP OMEN 34c QHD Curved Gaming Monitor is the first curved gaming monitor I've used, and it really is a game changer, far more than I ever expected. A simple screw with a little handle on it, rotate it and the base is solid. You have control over the height and angle forward or backwards, but not left to right, you actually have to move the base to move it left or right, there is no swivel in that direction.Turning on the monitor, it automatically looks for an input, initially with a large 'OMEN' on the screen, and then looks for a source. Talking of branding, you don't see the HP logo on the front of the monitor at all. In fact looking over it, you don't initially see a HP logo at all, it is branded 'OMEN'.I was really impressed with the picture quality from this morning right out the gate, but after using the controls on the right hand side on the back of the monitor, I was able to dial in the color to my liking. Connecting to your preferred source, you have two HDMI connections and a Display Port connection, and also a headphone jack on the underside of the monitor. Once connected, there is a little 'U-shaped' piece of plastic that clips into the stand for cable management purposes.Diving in to Grand Theft Auto right away, I was really impressed with all of the detail and clarity from the monitor. I felt like I was seeing more details that I have previously, and I've been gaming on a 100" projector for the past 7 years. The quality and detail on this 34" widescreen monitor were fantastic! The HDR from the 3440x1440 WQHD (Wide Quad High Definition) display really shines, and the fast 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time means that you have uninterrupted motion while gaming.Multiplayer in Call of Duty, I had no lag at all, especially compared to my previously mentioned projector, making the gaming experience a lot more engaging. And the curved screen made it even more immersive as well. There are integrated speakers in the monitor, but they are nothing to write home about, but you will more than likely have a decent headset on so that you can chat with your mates online, so it isn't much of an issue at all.In the week or so that I've had this HP OMEN Curved Gaming Monitor, I have been thoroughly impressed with is vibrance, color range and immersive experience. I can't find fault with the monitor at all and would highly recommend this to friends and family. Love it!

Overall this things is quite impressive and I love how wide the monitor is with the thinnest of bezels along the side of the screen. The stand is easy enough to use to bring the monitor to your desired height, while being easy to get the perfect view with a little bit of tilt as well. One of my pet peeves is keeping my desktop looking clean and thankfully it has a cable management system on the back of the monitor. The speaker quality is quite good for a build in speaker system but I run separate speakers always to get more in depth audio quality. The colors are rich and vibrant and make any game look like new with a bright screen and great color quality.Game PlayNot having used a curved monitor for gaming The OMEN 34c has changed my life and I could never go back to a regular flat panel monitor. The aspect ratio is easy to manage and no matter what game I played the aspect ratio always seemed perfect. The colors stayed true to the game and were always popping on the screen and I felt true to the game designers vision. Once immersed in the game having such a large screen makes the viewing angels super important and I felt like I was in the game itself.Monitor TechHaving a 165 Hz refresh rate is great and made my gaming experience top notch. Many features are accessible in the on screen display. I was quite impressed with the number of options that were presented to me. A real perk to me was the FPS mode and I loved the feature as not only can you turn it on but you can choose the colors and move the location as well. If you do not want to see the power LED on the bottom of the screen you also have the option to turn that off. Again the speakers are not amazing but are really great compared to monitors that I have used in the past.

BUT You do not need to adjust anything, I always adjust my monitors and TV's all the time to my liking BUT the OMEN 34c is perfect without any adjusting, an extremely pleasing find indeed. The curve to the OMEN 34c with its outstanding picture quality is just mind blowing. I’m a gamer and desktop builder by heart, but I am completely new to the curved monitor world. The curved gaming monitor was a was a pretty sizable upgrade over an older 27 inch flat panel HD monitor that has seen its best days some time ago, and after planfully upgrading parts and pieces of my desktop over time as budget permitted, it was finally time for the display. My last computer upgrade (a Christmas gift from my wife) was a new Nvidia 3080 graphics card, a that is a lot of horsepower that was severely capped on 1920x1080 resolution at only 75hz.I stayed out of the curved monitor arena for a few years because it seemed gimmicky to me at first, and at the end of the day I just liked what I knew and what I was comfortable with. My fears were unfounded, I was vastly incorrect with that assumption- as a gamer (primarily), the new experience is pretty outstanding. The HP Omen 34c offers a ton of technical upgrades over my old screen: the visual real estate jumps up to 34 inches on the diagonal, and the new 21:9 aspect ratio makes the monitor a fairly girthy unit (the footprint is a full 32 inches wide compared to the 24 inches the old monitor occupied on my desk). It definitely commands the space that was reserved previously for a dual monitor setup. Not a problem, however, that sacrifice is well worth the upgrade. The viewing experience is a super crisp level of detail and depth with the 3440x1440 native resolution, while the 1ms response time and a 165hz refresh rate combine to take full advantage of the graphics card I just upgraded in delivering a smooth gaming experience free of ghosting and tearing. While my graphics card is an Nvidia, it plays just fine with the embedded Freesync technology and the Omen is a great monitor to unlock the powers of a decent card. If you are investing in a higher-end screen, make sure you have a graphics card with enough horsepower to push it, otherwise you will not get the full offering of features the screen is designed for.Tech specs aside, the assumption around the monitor I really got wrong was the gimmicky part. There are high end flat panels that offer similar specs, there is nothing special about high resolution or refresh rates. The really special part is how the monitor unlocks your level of immersion. From a size and space perspective, the wider aspect and curvature of the screen is engineered to mimic your eyes, providing better viewing angles, a more complete sense of periphery and a natural and comfortable viewing experience. It took me a bit to get used to that part, the field of view was now much larger than I was used to, and I had to train my eyes a bit to start paying attention to the extra space I didn’t get before. In FPS games, that was a pretty invaluable upgrade for increased awareness and I felt like I had more control of the field. For RP games with high detail content (think Rise of the Tomb Raider), holy smokes does the Omen 34c bring a gaming environment like that to an entirely new level. It is instant replay value for a few titles I had already played, just for the expanded field of view and richer level of color, detail and responsiveness. Check your game library for support, not all games appear to have been built with this in mind (sad face for Fallout 4, I was kind of looking forward to replaying that one). The overall package of design, quality and delivery of gaming experience really amazing, you won’t find many curved monitors offering better value for the price point. I have very few critiques of it, but worthy of noting if of importance to some. First, the audience for the monitor is primarily a gamer. It is a decent unit for watching movies, but that isn’t why you should invest in this screen. It is also great for multimedia applications, but man I find it hard to work on it. Strange experience when you open an excel workbook, but not a negative as that also isn’t the reason to invest in this, just an interesting footnote that not all applications on your desktop port equally or as comfortably. From a built standpoint, it is a very sturdy unit with only a few design points that I thought could be better. For the cost, do your audience a favor and add some LED somewhere. The screen lacks any lighting, but there is an Omen lighting suite to control just that. The mount and movement is also a bit limited. Easy and smooth action moving the screen up and down, but it only tilts up, and there is zero movement left or right. That is a mechanical action, and should have been a relatively inexpensive add to the build to add customization or flexibility to screen positioning. Lastly, with the massive size and the large arm to bury cables in for neat cable management, I’m not sure why the inputs are on the bottom of the screen instead of the rear. With the necessary footprint due to the massive size, make the inputs come out perpendicular so they can route to the arm and be hidden completely without bending them and stressing the input. Minor things, but important to the whole offering.A wonderful design by HP on the whole, and a joy to finally be able to optimize what my rig can do in a way that I hadn’t been able to experience gaming before, it is definitely worth the leap if you (like myself) weren’t necessarily a believer in curved viewing out of the gate.
The HP OMEN 34c monitor is a happy medium between your standard monitor and the high end gaming monitors that are available on the market. The monitor itself feels lightweight for the size and takes up a decent amount of desk space. Being a landscape style monitor, the 34” diagonal length is a width of almost 32”. Keep this in mind when purchasing as it is a slightly elongated landscape design to accompany gaming well. The “c” in the model name stands for curved. This is my first experience using a curved monitor/screen and I love the feel. The curve allows for better peripheral vision of the screen without as much movement of the eye while playing. This is my first experience using a curved monitor/screen and I love the feel. The curve allows for better peripheral vision of the screen without as much movement of the eye while playing. It also provides a more immersive feeling atmosphere to the display. I’ve had a flat 3-monitor setup in the past and this monitor in a 3-monitor setup would be elite in comparison, wrapping around. The monitor itself was easy setup out of the box and comes with a monitor stand; it does look compatible with standard monitor stands also. The stand allows for varying height and tilt to allow for proper desk ergonomics. The display is bright and overall smooth. With 2 HDMI ports and 1 display port, the monitor is able to accommodate most visual setup needs. I typically play either shooters or MMORPGs and with a 165Hz refresh rate I feel comfortable with the ability of this display. There is no noticeable delay for myself and the visualization of my games feels smooth without any image distortion noted. The images are crisp with the 3440 x 1440 resolution and I always get reminded how far we have come in display within the past 10-15 years. I did have to mess with the resolution of my favorite MMORPG to get the display right, but after some trial and error got it looking beautiful (every computer or laptop I have ever used will have issues with this certain game). And otherwise, back to the enjoyment of the curve. The one downfall to this monitor (and truthfully almost every monitor I have used within the past few years) is the built-in speakers. The sound quality is OK for being a monitor. Most gamers either over the ear headphones or an immersive surround sound setup and this monitor does not compare. With that being said, the sound is okay, and if was to use this for another reason and just need available sound without any speaker setup, it does the job. This is my second OMEN line product and based upon this monitor I would not be opposed by any means to keep with their products in the future if the item is right
I'll start out by saying that for your average gamer, this will probably be fine. The price point is a bit high, but Display HDR400 will get you decent color/brightness range and the included desk stand has some good heft to it. For the most part fast pace action remained clear, but on white screens there is a definite color shift from red to blue depending on your viewing angle. I also found that the right side brightness levels were not as good as the rest of the panel. No matter what angle I tried, I could not get it to go away. Maybe I'm just spoiled by good IPS displays over a VA panel. For refresh rate, I ended up going with 144Hz instead of 165Hz as the color range goes from 10-bit down to 8-bit with that simple change and the color banding on some textures ... MoreI'll start out by saying that for your average gamer, this will probably be fine. No matter what color or refresh rate settings I tried though, I could not get rid of some ghosting with blue objects. Something about blue in particular would leave a purple after image as the box moved across the screen. As this monitor does not have a USB connector, I don't believe they'll be able to fix that via easy firmware upgrade.Speaking of ports, 2 HDMI and 1 DP port is OK. The included audio out is a weird choice as anyone gaming on this will likely have their audio going straight through their game machine. I would have loved to see an included USB-C DP port, but even other curved monitors in this price point tend to skip that feature. This is more geared toward gamers than creatives or office workers. With that said though, this may find a use at my work desk as I find I have less eye strain on this vs. my dual monitor setup. I'd lose a bit of real estate, but it'd be a small price to pay for eye relief. All in all, this is a decent monitor. If you want a basic curved gaming monitor, this will suit your needs, but if you also want to use this for creative works, I would suggest going elsewhere
I was in the market for a replacement of my 5 year old 38” widescreen which at the time was great but so much has happened with display technology since. The Omen is a 34” but when i put them side by side I was immediately impressed by how little real estate I was actually giving up. The display is maximized in the frame, with the glass being nearly edge to edge. Usable real estate is slightly less, including a 3/4” chin across the bottom, but it’s not like you have a giant border around your work or gaming fun.Once you turn the Omen on and get it hooked to your hardware is when the fun (and occasional wow) kicks in. The curved display has an impressive refresh rate of 165Hz, which is both much easier on the eyes when working for long periods and super quick for action games. The built in speakers eliminate the need for a separate speaker setup in most scenarios, and the stand is easy to adjust and very stable - something that isn’t always common with large widescreen monitors. The only downside it had for me personally is the lack of a built in USB hub. I prefer a wired keyboard and mouse when gaming and only have so much port real estate on my laptop. Losing this in the transition to the Omen meant having to buy an additional USB hub to get operational; a minor inconvenience but a miss on their part.I haven’t interacted much with the Omen Gaming Hub app but I do know that it offered me a dizzying array of adjustments to help customize the experience between my computer and monitor. All in all I’d call this a MUST buy if you’re in the market for a display of this size and refresh rate is important for your work or fun!
The HP Omen 34C is a pretty sweet 34 inch curved monitor. The large display is bright and has both good color accuracy and solid overall performance. There is some minor ghosting from time to time, but it's not a common occurrence and this monitor is better about it than the 144 hz 27 inch display from another manufacturer this replaced is. Setup is easy enough, but you have to make sure the stand is completely secure to the monitor. No line lump in the power connection is a nice bonus, considering the size of the screen. All in all, a good deal for the price.Setup:The box opens in a way similar to a pizza box - cut a couple of seals and one side will lift up and over. You'll need an area with a lot of space to do this, as the box is quite large. Inside the box, you'll find a the monitor, the disassembled base and stand, a power cord, a DisplayPort cable, and instructions. You'll want to mount the vertical part of the stand to the monitor before adding the base of the stand; I assembled the stand first and had issues getting it to snap into place. I also would havce liked to see the stand screw into the monitor instead of snap, but the mounting system does work. You can optionally use a 100x100 VESA mounting arm. Also, it uses a regular computer power cable so no dealing with line lumps or wall warts in your power strip. The curved panel makes an already large monitor larger, but it makes it better at the same time as you don't get the off-angle view issues you'd get with a flat monitor or a multi-monitor setup that sits flat.I tested this on several systems and found the performance consistent between them. Desktops were powered by Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, and Nvidia GeForce GTX cards using DisplayPort and HDMI, and all three had consistent performance with this display while running gaming and video loads. Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS all worked with the adaptive frame rate, which helped both with gaming and 24 fps video. Older titles like Portal 2, CS:GO, and Doom 3 looked amazing at 3440x1400 and the imagery was like butter. Newer games like Doom Eternal, Death Stranding, SpongeBob Cosmic Shake, and Control were also amazing and, while running on the more underpowered cards, frame drops didn't give you the visual artifacting you normally get with screen tearing.I also tested with two different laptops - Dell Inspiron 14 7425 and MSI Delta 15 (Ryzen 7 5800H + Radeon RX6700M) and both had consistent performance with the display as well.Things I did notice while doing uniformity testing is the corners do get a little darker than the rest of the screen. I know this is a normal LCD thing but the curved screen makes it more obvious. Color performance is pretty good, overall. There's also more issues with ghost images on bright screens than dark, but this isn't extremely noticeable in all but a few benchmarks. The one bad part of this monitor is one thing you thankfully can skip using - the built-in speakers. Thin and tinny, no matter how loud they get.Otherwise, the 34C is a terrific screen for both everyday use and for gaming. It's not the first choice for precision color work, but video editing, music creation, and surfing the web is a pleasure. The video performance is more than adequate for playing high-paced games with clear visuals. All in all, a good option for those who want an ultra wide.
The HP Omen offers a stunning 34" curved display that is sure to please most gamers out there. However at the strong price point that this unit is coming in at the real question is rather or not its the correct buy for your gaming needs.Out of the box you get everything you need to get you started. You get an adjustable stand and adjustable tilt base. You can adjust height and up/down tilt. The monitor does come with built in speakers but trust me when i say to you that it really is pointless having speakers built in to this monitor. Sound quality is garbage and to be quite honest they could of freed up some space by leaving that option out of the equation. Not a big deal for me personally as i game with a headset on anyways. The back of the display does also allow for a Vesa mount, which is the way went vs the provided stand. Keep in mind you will have to buy your own Vesa mounts. The HP OMEN monitor is going to offer you an array of color options along with some prep-set options as well. You can expect to find your standard adaptive sync controls to help limit frame rate as well as an option for full adjustment of your refresh rate. At the highest refresh rate setting and sync controls off, i was able to play Call of Duty at ultra settings with zero lag or ghosting all while maintaining a full 80 frames. One really cool feature this monitor offers is on screen countdown timers and stopwatches to assist with speed runs. This is actually the first time i seen this built in to a gaming monitor and to be quite honest i think its a really cool feature for those looking to set personal best timed runs. Now lets talk picture quality for a second. I was honestly a little curious as to how well picture quality would be displayed at its current 3440x1440 resolution. Resolution is outstanding to say the very least. Games like the Last of Us or Final Fantasy IV were absolutely stunning with bright greens and reds shinning through and blacks that were so true they looked natural against a night sky. MMO battles are stunning and vibrant all while maintaining a cool 160 refresh rate. This monitor was able to handle everything i threw at it without missing a beat. So this is really a no brainer, if your looking to buy a monitor that is going to give you some future proofing, then this is the way to go. Picture quality is superb however there are other monitors that offer the same quality at a lower price point, but with that being said what truly sets this unit apart from the others is its array of options that truly allow you to fine tune your settings based on your desired game play. Rather your looking for that fast action refresh rate adjustment for FPS or deep rich colors with a steady frame rate for you mmo people, this monitor is going to allow for both sides of the spectrum. This monitor honestly is going to fit just about everyone's needs regardless of what they are. This may be the last monitor you need for a very long time.
