Then he mistakenly thought I was calling about a paper-jam. When I asked him to call me back on my landline, he got lost as it was the cut-off point for service. That also took about 30 minutes for a big nothing.I went onto chat and the tech person went on remotely and finally re-installed the software, it took her an hour.A printer is necessary these days for basic everyday functions, apart from other projects. We should not have to pay over $150.00 for what is essentially a machine with a roller to move paper and ink pads to print.Get rid of the blinking lights and just give us a sturdy machine that does not go offline every 2 days.I will not be getting HP in the future.

A Good Printer/Scanner - But!

This printer is good value for money, has an almost identical specification and works well. The only issue that I have with it is probably due to a cost cutting measure but nonetheless prevents me giving it a 5 Star review. That is that the paper catcher is a flinsey manual device that needs to be pulled out prior to printing/scanning, On the previous printer it was automatically activated when the printer was accessed and made the device operation simpler. This may not bother most people but I have to climb a set of stairs to do this every time I print something from my laptop/phone, because the printer is in my old home office and I now do all my online ...Ā MoreI recently bought this printer/scanner to replace an HP Envy 5540 that has served me well for several years. Disappointing after 19 years of using HP
12 December 2023

It is a nice looking compact printer. The set up took around 2 hours. I had to involve my IT department so how a family managed without assistance beats me! I do not use the printer everyday but when I do I have had to disconnect it & reinstall it to work again. It is also supplied with the minimum amount of ink so the black cartridge lasted just a few weeks with minimum printing. It also just stopped printing black & didnt notify me that the cartridge was low. For the last 19 years I have always used a HP printer & been more than satisfied. This time I am very disappointed

Not Happy!
18 April 2024

I have had this for 3 weeks but I 've had nothing but trouble with it. It takes over 3 minutes to print 1 colour sheet and it absolutely drinks the ink. Also it doesn't print a full sheet without cutting the end off. This is supposed to save me up to 70% in ink but at the rate the ink is going down it is going to end up costing about 70% more!I print a lot of colour as I make cards for charity but my previous printer (not HP) lasted me far longer on inks. I had the previous one for 12 years with no trouble. It is not fit for my purpose but having asked for a return I get directed to tech! Not happy at all! I will say though that one thing in it's favour is the good printing quality

Printer goes offline and HP Smart reverts to "factory default" settings
21 February 2023

I bought a new printer to resolve printer offline problems with my old HP printer. Unfortunately, I still have printer offline issues with this brand new HP printer. The only way it seems that I can avoid the printer offline problems is to use "HP Smart" as my selected printer "driver". However, when I do that, I must specify EACH TIME I PRINT that I want to print in duplex mode. Using the Windows printer driver, I can specify how I want my printer to behave, but I can't seem to keep it online. It's been roughly 30 years (since Windows 95) that printer drivers have allowed a person to specify how they want their printer to behave on a default basis, but HP Smart doesn't seem to be able to accomplish this. Each time I switch between printers the HP Smart app returns to the "Factory Default" settings and I must change these settings AGAIN and AGAIN.Aside from these annoyances, the printer works fine. The print quality is quite good, the printer was reasonably priced, and using HP's Instant Ink program means that I never have to worry about running out of ink. Please let me keep this printer from going offline and please allow me to specify how I want my printer to behave on a default basis. These don't seem to be very difficult problems to solve, but they are certainly enough to knock a couple of stars off my printer rating.

Scanning Issues
10 July 2024

I bought this a few days aga and the scanning feature will not connect. I need for working from home. My IT specialist department could not get it to work either. Have spent many hours trying to get this to work. On top of this when I used the serial number to register the warranty, I am advised that the warranty has expired in June 2024. Tried to contact HP Support and nothing works. Cannot connect via phone, whats app, call back, or community support. Virtual assistance is useless and the HP DR is not working either. Definately not recommended if you want to use the scan feature.

Teething problems
10 December 2023

When I first purchased the product there were some problems adding it to my ink account, mainly because my mobile would not support the HP Smart app. That was overcome (by me having to replace a phone I was quite happy with), but then the printer ran out of ink within 10 days with no sign of replacement cartridges.I contacted HP and was told that a "welcome package" was in transit. This took another few days to arrive, during which I couldn't do any printing to use the vast amount of my allowance outstanding at the time.Things appear to be settling into the previous routine of ink being sent in advance of need and the printer does what it says on the tin. A good machine to replace my previous HP printer. Can't fault that.
