Reading the instructions provided will help you get it ready to print much easier. The most difficult part of the set up is connecting the printer to the WIFI. I connected it through my phone. I was required to install the HP Smart app on my phone I needed to turn on my Bluetooth and then it was able to find the printer. It went through it's setup process and then the printer was able to connect to the WIFI. I tried printing an image from my phone and the HP Smart app said I needed the HP Smart Services Plugin to print from my phone. I installed that app and then I was able to print from my phone. This is probably my favorite thing about the printer was the ability to print from my phone. Once set up, the app makes printing from my phone very easy. After doing the setup to get it on the WIFI made connecting the printer on my Windows 11 laptop much easier. It was able to find it right away when scanning and added it with no problems. Testing: I tested the single copy via the printer menu and it worked just fine. The quality of the prints are good. I tested the multiple copy tray and it worked as good as the copy from the glass scan. I tested switching from WIFI to ethernet. I had to go through the printer setup wizard again on my phone for a printer that's already setup and then it would print while it was using ethernet. While connected to the internet, both via WIFI and Ethernet, the printer was responsive and worked great. Conclusion: While I like that it is a compact printer and it looks nice, there are some things I would change about the design. This would include a backlit screen that is easier to see. The biggest issue I see is that the setup process will be too difficult for many individuals who are not confident in technology. I know that my parents would struggle getting this to work and would call me for help. I also don't like that I have to install two different apps to print from my phone. Ultimately I think this printer will be a good printer for someone who needs a printer/copier for basic tasks and is confident enough to set it up via an app or website.

There are no cables included with this printer to directly attach to your computer. So, you need to have wireless capabilities on your computer, phone, etc., or you will need to purchase a USB cable separately. You need to have an internet connection in order to set up the printer and the printer must remain connected to the internet in order to function correctly. Printing: The quality of the printing is awesome. Very clear with no smudging, etc. You can print documents from your computer or phone, or you can make copies of documents by pushing a button on the front of the printer. I printed multiple documents without issue including printing a shipping label. Another nice feature is that you can print double sided documents. Scanning: There is both a document feeder and a flatbed scanner. Both seem to work well although when I initially tried to scan 8 pages at once using the document feeder it jammed. I turned the printer off and back on and it reset itself. I was then able to scan the 8 pages without any issues. I went on to scan 20 more pages with no issues. When I attempted to scan double sided pages, it only scanned one side of the pages. Ink Refills: There is an ink program you can enroll in where toner will be delivered automatically to you when your cartridge is getting low. However, you can opt out of this program which is what I chose to do at this time. Additional Info: This is a relatively large, heavy-duty printer (see photos). If you don’t have a lot of space and rarely need to print documents, this may not be the printer for you. However, if you have the room, and need to frequently print and/or scan documents, this might be exactly what you are looking for (as long as you only need to scan documents that are one sided).
As a work from home mom with a toddler doing part time preschool from home this printer does an amazing job! The HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe was one of the easiest printers I've ever set up. It comes well packaged, almost fully assembled, the HP app used for setup makes the entire process painless and very fast. Considering it's a printer and scanner it is not nearly as big as the box made it seem and fits easily in my small office. Because I needed it for a dual purpose (work and school) I was worried about setting it up to be connected to multiple devices but it's had no hiccups having two computers (one Mac and one PC) connected to it. The scanner has worked great for scanning coloring/work pages out of workbooks and then printing off multiple copies; this is big as sometimes toddlers want the same page several times and if I just let him use the book then I'm spending more money replacing books thar aren't used up. One feature I really liked is the ID copy; it allows you to scan the front of a card, move the card to a separate section and scan the back, then prints both sides on one side of a single sheet of paper. I would give this 5 stars but dropped it to the 4 star rating because of the ink replacement subscription. I could see how if you use this in a busier small office or print a lot of pages that it could save a lot of money, however, even with what I need it for I won't need to print off enough for there to be a savings to me at all and I did not appreciate the automatic sign up for the subscription (I think it should be offered but not automatically done). Overall I'm very happy with the printer and due to the high quality expect I will not have to replace it for a very long time.
