HSBC Card Off | Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Speaker - Brown MHP-96075
The new, compact home speaker Acton III from the well-known company Marshall has been redesigned to offer a significantly wider soundstage compared to its predecessor and a home audio experience that fills the space and is in complete contrast to its size. This Bluetooth speaker (also has a 3.5mm input) offers powerful, vibrant, and surprisingly clear sound, a result that only Marshall can achieve in such dimensions. The new generation of Acton features two tweeters on the left and right of the woofer, which are angled (the port is located on the back, bass reflex), as well as upgraded waveguides to provide consistently clear and powerful sound. The Acton III offers an exciting sound (incorporating a 30W Class D amplifier for the woofer and two 15W Class D amplifiers for the tweeters) that bears the Marshall signature.

I got this speaker for my small apartment and it works wonderfully. It fills the room with superb sound quality. Not only does it sound nice, but it is built beautifully. It is obvious that this speaker is built with quality materials and is designed to last a very long time. I also found that this speaker performs much better in small rooms vs big rooms, specially on the low end of the sound, I have experienced much more bass in smaller rooms, however this is expected. All in all, this is just such a high quality product and it is worth the price tag. For its size, this speaker has surprisingly good bass, great treble and gets more loud than you would probably need, just a great product.

I got this for my husband, so here's his review...Love it. I haven't enjoyed listening to music this much since I was a youngster with a massive HiFi. Would actively encourage anyone who's always loved their music and misses their old vinyl and cd collections to get one. Would be a great present to receive.Practicalities:Everything about it is quality, from the packaging, to the switches, to the classy classic look. The black feels very rock music roadie (think I'd have preferred brown, as a jazz rat, but don't tell my wife). It's compact so can go anywhere, though the power cable isn't super-long.Tech:It links really nicely to the marshal app on my phone, so the phone is then the volume, equaliser, play/skip remote control. The sound source I used was Spotify and it created a really nice rich sound.Sound:This feels a bit weird to write, but listening to music on this speaker which I listen to all the time on other devices was hugely enjoyable. So much better than my other digital speakers or headphones. I could really pick out instruments and feel the music. It was a lot like being at a gig when I closed my eyes, daft as that sounds!I can caught myself being excited to hear different types of music on it and ended actually stopping and sitting down to listen to music, rather than just having tunes on in the background. I'm 47 and it took me back to being in my 20s again. My taste are at the jazz, funk, soul, classical end of the spectrum. The kinds of recordings that seemed to come alive most were old analogue recordings that had been digitised (like Glen Miller or Lalo Schifrin). The bass got a touch overloaded on some of the really extreme stuff up really loud, but that's the only thing I can fault it on sound-wise.I found it sounded best in a mid sized room (4m x 4m). We've got a big conservatory and whilst it sounded good, it was sensational in a close setting.Thinking of buying another one for the bedroom now.

I am very impressed by the quality of sound that comes out of this speaker. Using an audio test I found that the bass actually comes in at 35Hz instead of the advertised 45Hz which gives a nice full sound out of such a small speaker. This speaker is a very worthy upgrade to the JBL Xtreme 2 that it replaced. However, I had to take a star away because it isn't quite loud enough. The volume knob on my Marshall guitar amp goes to 11, but the volume knob on this one only goes to 10. That makes my guitar amp one louder and I feel gives the engineering staff at Marshall Group something to aspire to on the next generation of speaker. You can do it!

I use this speaker in my (very messy) garden room/office to listen to music and podcasts while I'm working. It's a good looking, weighty and solidly built speaker, it deserves to be in a great looking room but until I get my act together it lives here but that doesn't mean it doesn't do a great job. The sound from it is amazing, whether it's music or speech and I like to listen to things loud so clear undistorted sound is what I need and what I get. I'm not really techie about bass etc so I haven't really explored the treble or bass controls, volume and Bluetooth are what I need. It connects seamlessly and very quickly to two different devices at the same time so I can switch between them rather than disconnecting one which just adds a little bit more convenience. I ... I have three other bluetooth speakers from very cheap to similarly priced to this one (but that one is a much smaller speaker) and they all have their place especially since they're all rechargeable and therefore portable. Which is the only drawback to the Acton as it's wired but without going into the technical specs I don't think I'd get the power from it if it wasn't wired, or at least I'd have to recharge it often. Now I just need to decide where I'll listen to it the most and find it a permanent place to live in my home.
From arrival, this was a very good customer experience. The packaging is attractive and protects the speaker, and the enclosed manual is simple but adequate to get the unit up and running. In fact, the controls are intuitive enough that I didn't really need a manual at all.Build quality has held up after a couple of weeks of use - everything feels solid. The buttons and switches have a nice chunky feel and resistance to them.Sound quality and volume are both excellent. This was tested thoroughly by two young children and an iPhone, and it could absolutely pump out some danceable tunes! Both children were able to use the controls easily, and the visual feedback (for, say, volume and tone) are helpful and intuitive.I did notice that my initial manual Bluetooth ... This wasn't an issue in practice.I would have really liked this unit to have batteries, or to be a little more portable, so it could follow me around the house.I'd recommend this to someone looking for a beefy Bluetooth speaker, who doesn't need/want direct Wi-Fi connectivity.
First things first this is a good looking speaker and feels well made. The on/off switch has a satisfying clunk and the dials feel good as well although how much you'll use them with a Bluetooth speaker is debatable. It sounds pretty good as well, plenty of bass and it goes loud. The midrange and treble are possibly a bit recessed but there are tone controls to tailor the sound to your liking. Make sure you dig into the app if you are placing it close to the wall or in a corner as there are some settings in there to adapt the sound to those locations. This does bring me to a slight disappointment that at this price level it's lacking any real smart speaker features. There's no Alexa/Siri/Google integration and no Spotify connect. Something like a Sonos 1 will do all that and have a dynamic sound truing capability to best adapt the speaker to your room and chosen placement. However the Acton has a much bigger, bassier sound and will more easily fill a big room. All in all, if you don't need the smarts and you like the looks it's a solid choice
I received the Marshall Acton III a couple of weeks ago and I'm as happy as can be.Ordering and shipping was a breeze as it always is with B&H.The Acton was ready to go out of the box. My player (Fiio) found Acton's bluetooth right away and the bluetooth connection to my Fiio was almost instant and is stable over 25 feet. I have not tried to go any further yet. If you don't have bluetooth, you are able to plug in a cable with a 3.5mm jack. Adjusting the bass is easy and done via the knob on top or your music player software. It also has a knob for treble, and some other features. If you don't need to entertain the whole block, the Acton III has plenty of power for a good size backyard party.I also have a Klipsch The One II and in comparison, I would say the Klipsch sounds a little bit more balanced.Nevertheless, I have absolutely no regrets buying the Acton III and it is a perfect and cool looking addition to my back porch.Yes, it needs a power source (outlet) but that is no downside for me. I would buy it again.
I connected my phone with this device and use it to listen to the radio and to music. It was really easy to pair - the instructions are simple and clear and it took no time at all to pair them. I haven't had any problems with this connection working, although I haven't experimented to see how far apart the phone and speakers can be before it stops working. The volume is great - I rarely use it on full as I don't want to upset my neighbours, but it definitely is better than the older, simpler speakers I used to have. The sound quality is very good and you can adjust bass and treble. I can adjust volume from my phone or using the device itself.I'm sure smaller, sleeker speakers exist, but I really love the retro style of these speakers. The brass buttons add a touch ... The brass buttons add a touch of class, and it looks really stylish. They are easy to move around the house, I just move them from room to room if needed. They need to be plugged in so are more something to use at home rather than out and about (I have more portable ones for bbqs and picnics).Overall I am really pleased with the style and function of these speakers. I haven't compared their features to other models of the same value, but based on my experience of using them I think they are pretty good value for money and I would recommend them. Of all the bluetooth devices I have, these were the easiest to pair with my phone.
I received this speaker in a free trial and have been very impressed by it. The looks are really distinctive, just like a mini version of the classic electric guitar amplifier. Some people may prefer a more minimalist look but I love it, it really makes a statement on my shelf. The speaker itself is solid and compact and beautifully made - it feels like a high quality product. I particularly love the copper coloured control panel at the top (which contrasts beautifully with the crackle black), which has solid retro style knobs for the volume, bass and treble, and a retro on/off switch. The switches are complimented by red lighting which shows the level of volume, treble etc. As well as looking great the controls are really handy - it is nice to be able to adjust the ... I also have Sonos speakers and I hadn't realised I was missing this feature until I tried the Marshall. The sound quality is very high - a warm, full sound, with a lot of power given its size, comparing favourably with the Sonos. The app was easy to download and use and the speaker was quick to set up. I haven't tried it because I don't own anything suitable, but it also has an auxiliary jack so you can connect external devices (you might even be able to use it as a guitar amp!). Overall I was very impressed - it is a premium product and it's looks really make it stand out. I would definitely recommend.
As soon as you connect with the speaker.... The difference is stark. My first thought was "I didn't know Bluetooth speakers could be this good!?!?"So many high-end speakers look like its trying to be an extra at a sci-fi film set. So it was a nice surprise to see that Marshall is rolling its own offering, without all the space-age aesthetics that don't quite fit with the home, visually sticking out and all shouty about it. Sound quality is second to none (I own Bose speakers so can confirm), looks very nice as a décor piece while not in use, and no it's not hipster. Exterior is well-made, same quality you'd expect from the other Marshall speakers you'd come to expect. Nice switches. Lights aren't intrusive. All tick boxes in my book. You won't regret this. It's all great.
