The Mate 20 Pro is a checklist of all the latest technology placed into a phone and due to the next generation 7nm power efficient processor, makes it a good buy now as next years phones will all built on this. The 3D face unlock technology is the real deal and genuinely useful, it has usually recognised my face and unlocked the screen before I can reach for the finger print sensor - that includes in the dark.Speaking of the finger print reader, this is the new in-screen type, hidden beneath the display. You wouldn't know it was there apart from the finger print animation that appears over where the sensor is located. A firm press and a ripple animation later and your phone is at the home screen. The novelty hasn't worn off yet! I find in day to day use the 3D unlock is used most and finger print when the phone is down on my desk at work - either way keeping your phone secure has never been easier or more convenient. The camera setup I haven't had much time to play with yet, coming from my old LG V30 is has a lot to live up to, but it has the "must have" ultra wide angle lens which you'll find once you have it, you use it all the time. The 24MP selfie cam isn't quite as amazing as the spec would suggest, but it takes decent photos, as good as the best of the other smartphones on the market right now.Build wise it is up there with the best, it feels solid and seamless and that "Twilight" colour is a real eye catcher. If you want the very latest technology you can get at this moment, the Mate 20 Pro has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in and for that reason its hard to fault.

This phone, though not cheap, is quite simply amazing. Blazingly fast downloads, processing times are short and the only time I have experienced any sort of lag, it was due to oversubscribed wifi. The interface is fairly intuitive if you are migrating from another manufacturer and the display is crisp, sharp and incredibly detailed. Battery lasts 3 days of normal use between charges. Finally, the camera. Amazing clarity, detail and colour so far (still testing this) and the only reason it hasn't totally replaced my DSLR is the fact it doesn't have an optical zoom. Yes, it is a pricey piece of kit, but the performance is better than anything else on the market right now, so for those who like future-proofing and anyone who likes cutting-edge tech, this represents ... MoreThis phone, though not cheap, is quite simply amazing. The only downside to the future-proofing aspect is that it is not 5G, but IMHO that makes little difference as the cost of 5G will make that irrelevant until after I replace this phone.

I bought this just a week ago to replace a Google Nexus 6 which was starting to get slow, and running out of battery within half a day.I have to say that getting this phone was the best choice. I don't really need to charge it every day as it still normally has more than 50% charge after 24 hours. It works exceptionally fast with a number of apps open, and is quite easy to set up and use if you are familiar with an android phone. With 128Gb memory I doubt I'll need to keep 'cleaning' the storage, and whilst it took time to get used to the screen ration, after a few days if feels great. It is a little heavier than some phones, but I prefer the sturdy feel of it. I bought this phone a month ago and I'm 95% happy. The only negative I find is the curved edge screen, I have to get used to. When I'm holding the fold, I need to be mindful that my fingers are touching the screen on the sides unintentionally. Which can create a few small issues.Besides that, there are no negatives. The camera is fantastic. It takes the best portrait photos and the editing functions included provide some great options to turn my photos into images that everyone comments on.Since my purchase of my phone and uploading my photos to social media, 3 friends have loved my pics and gone and gotten themselves a Mate 20 pro also because the pics are so great. The battery of this phone is amazing also. I have been using the phone quite a lot because of Christmas and being on holidays etc and it is lasting 2 days. That's brilliant. It would last longer if I used the power save functions and wasn't using youtube / camera as much. Maybe even 3 days just sitting in a bag. Or more???I recommend not worrying about the colour of the unit, because you need to protect it anyway. When buying a screen protector, be mindful to buy one that doesn't allow a gap between the screen and the cover. I purchased a tempered glass moulded cover and may have placed it slightly off centre (?) because there is a slight gap which I find is making it difficult. But that's not the phone. That's the screen protector.I completely recommend this phone. Prior to purchase, I researched all options for around 6 months and if you are after a great camera which a huge battery, buy this.
This is an excellent phone, and so it should be considering that it is pitched at the top end of the market. Key points that make it excellent:- 1) Very fast at pretty much any task 2) Good display, although Im not sure the OLED brings much over a decent IPS display 3) Good battery life, 6 days between charges is quite viable 4) Dual band GPS is fast to get lock and very accurate 5) Excellent main camera, quite viable for serious photography 6) The 21:9 aspect ratio makes it slimmer to fit in your pocket Meh features 1) Curved edged display is all show and brings no substance or functionality 2) OLED display is no better than IPS display on Mate 20 3) Battery life is very slightly worse that Mate 20 4) Display based fingerprint scanner is slower and less consistent ... MoreThis is an excellent phone, and so it should be considering that it is pitched at the top end of the market. Maybe the lower performance of the display mounted fingerprint scanner is the closest it gets to a negative. Ive found if my fingers are very cold it pretty much doesnt recognise my fingerprint. I guess I could retrain it and add a cold finger as a second fingerprint if I could be bothered. The camerareally is very good. Im a keen photographer and generally my requirement is to be able to make an A3 print from a photo. Ive not tried that with this phone but I think its probably good enough to be able to do that with. Personally, I would never have bought this phone for 700 or whatever it cost new because I think thats too much to spend on a phone, I know many people will disagree with that and I cant say I blame them considering that it makes a compact camera redundant. I actually bought it second-hand so its possible thats why I see worse battery life then the Mate 20. Having had experience of 2 Huawei phones I can recommend them wholeheartedly, I think theyre superb and lets face if youre going to be spied on would you rather have the Americans doing it or the Chinese? I wouldnt buy a Huawei phone which didnt have the Google Play store on it, for obvious reasons, something which seems to be almost completely random at the moment which phones sell new in the UK with the Play store and which do not.
After a fairly long research and evaluation of the results of said research I came to the conclusion that the Mate 20 Pro should be ideal. What I use it for is mainly comes down to heavy multitasking with split-screen and several back and forth into a third sometimes fourth app. Mind you that the EMUI 10.1 version at least on this handset locked to Vodafone, has a new and "improved" split screen, which instead of opening the third app on the half of the screen you touched last, a little pop-up window comes in which you can move around afterwards. This is the single most annoying thing about this phone. The camera system is brilliant at least changing from my old phone (mate 20 lite). So in conclusion : Cons: - New split-screen user interface - "Edge" design of the screen becomes uncomfortable to hold because without a case you can easily touch the screen somehow - The speaker built in the charging port, hence worse experience when on charger watching or listening to anything on speakers Pros: - Cameras beautiful macros, great image stabilisation and focus even on distant object without too much blur - Beautiful 2K screen everything looks crisp and detailed even with the 60Hz refresh rate - Good battery life and quick charging really is quick - Overall feels like a premium device on a budget price - (Still outperforms Galaxy Note9 so unless you need a pen you can lose go for this instead)
I have been seeking to replace a Windows 950XL since Microsoft pulled the plug and WhatsApp is no longer supported. Android is not best fit for me but since I cannot get on with IOS I don't have much choice. After a week with this Mate 20 pro I don't have any complaints. This device is grade B refurbished at 244, it only needed new lens glass to make right. Considering the price of current flagships and mid range devices the Mate 20 pro still holds it's own and performs well. To me this was better value than going for a current midrange model. This device updated to Android 10 and EMUI 10 with an April 1st 2020 security patch in early June 2020. The battery life is everything the reviews say. This device updated to Android 10 and EMUI 10 with an April 1st 2020 security patch in early June 2020. The battery life is everything the reviews say. I am very heavy on usage and always get through the day with charge left. The screen is a delight and was an important feature in my considerations coming from the 950XL. I was unsure about the curved edge display when considering the phone but now I have it I am very happy with it. I use a clear case to retain as much of the looks as possible while having a good grip on the device. Facial recognition has worked very well for me and finger print sensor too. I find the sound in calls and when using to play media very acceptable for this sort of product. My background has been in Audio since the late 70's. Just be carful about getting too tied up with Huawei support features which end up wanting to sell you themes and other non essential apps.
Good Points: I am very impressed with the Huawei mate 20 pro. The best quality of this phone has to be the picture quality. This is the key factor and my main reason for buying the phone. The screen size is perfect and the curved edges give it that sleek attractive and modern touch to it, its very eye-catching.The look and feel of the phone is nothing less than a high end smart phone.I have used a variety of phones in the past years and the Huawei has definitely beaten the rest in quality and functionality. The screen quality is amazing, the colour, contrast, quality, sharpness, brightness is spot on, I couldn't complain. due to the screen quality being so crisp, deep and rich makes the use of camera that much more exciting. I would highly reccommend this to anyone who wants a smart phone without spending a fortune. If I was to rate this phone it would be 10/10
This "Huawei Mate 20 Pro 128 GB / Blauw / (dualsim)" is just what I am looking for. After comparing with other similar level/price products, such as Samsung S10 series and iPhone X series, I have found that this smartphone is excellent in terms of product quality and price. It runs extremely fast both in using normal applications and surfing the websites. The camera's are really great to make both photo's and selfiephoto's with multiple mode choices. The battery capacity is big enough for using at least two days without charging. What surprised me most is its fast charging technology ( I have charged the battery to 100% from 59% remaining power in about 30 minutes.) The phone is in excellent condition, 9/10 physically. Only about two minor scratches. structure-wise, the phone is in perfect condition. The phone came reset, and all software was there and usable. It came with all the extras except the USB-c headphone adapter (however it did come with a good pair of USB-c headphones). Was surprised to see it came with a very good quality charger cable, and Huawei's own supercharger charging block. Phone was genuine and for a good price The Mate 20 pro itself is an incredible flagship phone for it's price, and I would for sure recommend getting it. comes with EMUI 9, and an astounding 68 MP camera setup. images look really good when phone is stabilized, and the 30x zoom is a nice feature. Video quality is great, and at 1080p 60fps the camera stabilization is incredible. 4k video is very good as well, however it is capped at 30fps so I'd honestly prefer filming at 1080p unless I had a tripod. The phone runs perfectly. All games have visual settings maxed out, and I can still play at smooth fps. The service was great, phone came very promptly and as expected. Would definitely recommend .
