I wanted to wait about a year before I wrote a review so that I had time to see how well the phone worked. The reason I bought it was because it had an amazing camera. And it does!I am able to take brilliant shots and video with it.The phone itself is also robust and very easy to use.The rear of the phone has an iridescent quality and it would have been great to be able to buy ALL of the accessories from John Lewis but unfortunately there were none available. The slow mo camera although is amazing, is motion activated so you cannot set up a shot/video ahead of time. The quality and depth of shots is amazing and the night camera gives wonderfully clear shots.I absolutely love this phone and will definitely stay with Huawei if they are still Google compatible.

First of all, the service offered by John Lewis is brilliant. The exchange promotion and the two year guarantee gives the assurance the product would be good and it's money's worth.Secondly in regards to the phone. Coming from Samsung s8 to p30 pro noticed that the screen is not the best but after a few days since there is nothing to compare with one forgets about it. Screen is good. The camera is good no complaints on that dept, photos are vivid and beautiful.Sound quality is good and calls are crisp and clear. The fingerprint reader works fine and is quick.Couple of things which bugs me is the position of the volume keys next to the power button, this should have been thought through. Software even though it runs on Android Huawei has added it's known design ... MoreFirst of all, the service offered by John Lewis is brilliant. There is update coming so hopefully it will fix it.Best thing battery, immersed with the battery that last 2 days with moderate use of listening to music on daily commute (Bluetooth) checking emails and news throughout the day. Definitely happy with not having to worry too much running out of battery midday.Overall an excellent product and would be keeping it for at least next two years or more.

Bought a P30 when they came out and just upgraded to a P30 pro and wow, honestly, what an incredible phone for the money. Having had iPhones and Samsung's latest flagship for a while i'm absolutely staggered by how much value you get from the Huawei. The camera is incredible, especially the AI processing depth of field thing when taking portraits or photos of people and for under 500 this is the best camera on the market. 128GB storage gives you tonnes of memory, even at full resolution photos that's thousands you can save and everything i've used on it from games to apps just works fine. Now - the downside: Huawei use a front end called EmUI and it's just awful. Layout, icons, styling, the whole lot, total rubbish and difficult to navigate so would strongly ... MoreBought a P30 when they came out and just upgraded to a P30 pro and wow, honestly, what an incredible phone for the money. Layout, icons, styling, the whole lot, total rubbish and difficult to navigate so would strongly recommend you install a launcher app (in my case Nova Launcher, 3.99 for the full version and it's worth every penny). Seriously, the UI makes this phone almost unusable but with an hour of setting up Nova Launcher it's the best phone i've ever used by a country mile.

Pros: The phone has good mid-range and telephoto cameras and good clear screenCons: This model suffers from severe design flaws. I have compared 2 P30 Pro phones side by side so I am certain this is not a one-off problem:(1) The GPS is inaccurate and wanders when the phone is stationary. (2) The compass needs recalibration literally every five minutes. (3) The AI measuring device is highly inaccurate - over 10% out on several occasions - so worse than using a ruler!(4) Photo location tagging is always incorrect, despite following various. recommended fixes - both phones I compared got my home address completely wrong. (5) The audio quality is shockingly bad for a phone of this price.(6) Some aspects of the quad camera system are good, as advertised, but it is ... MorePros: The phone has good mid-range and telephoto cameras and good clear screenCons: This model suffers from severe design flaws. (5) The audio quality is shockingly bad for a phone of this price.(6) Some aspects of the quad camera system are good, as advertised, but it is disappointing for macro shots, rating no better than an old iPhone6.I bought this to replace my old iPhone6. Apart from the telephoto camera function this was a mistake! The phone was delivered to me in minimal packaging with no protection, which doesn't help - although all the above are inherent flaws in this phone range.
The phone element is excellent. Its user interface is easy to navigate, everything is quick to load and there loads of storage space built in that adding an extra memory card is pointless. My 5000+ music database takes up half the storage so bags of room. Camera is a disappointment. It does take what appears to be good photos but the AI goes over the top in treatment. Shades of black don't differentiate, and the optical zoom degrades the fineness of the image. I am comparing this P30pro to my 2014 Samsung S5 K Zoom, and the K Zoom is way ahead in terms of picture quality, sharpness & colour but sadly lacks any sort of smart phone space & power for todays apps. The "always exposed" camera lenses on the P30Pro is a problem as tend to need a wipe every time you want to ... MoreThe phone element is excellent. The "always exposed" camera lenses on the P30Pro is a problem as tend to need a wipe every time you want to start a photo session. There doesn't appear to be a case on the market that covers the lenses until they're needed, precious is the glass that is the eye of the camera! The P30Pro will do for now as my main carry about phone but the KZoom won't be sold off for a few years yet, until new phone can boast 10x optical zoom & decent lenses.
Huawei P30 Pro must be the best phone I've seen and owned. The camera's macro ability is outstanding; zoom is also excellent from across one side of a building to the next but isn't able to read a road sign across a field which my wife's Canon compact camera is able to do. Battery life is extremely good. The only negatives are not having more options to save images at different resolutions. Requires better stabilisation at high end magnification. Uses expensive Nano Memory Card and finally just a fraction too big and heavy to hold in one hand for a lengthy period. (Photos supplied clearly illustrate the zoom potentials without flash). Another annouance is the swipe down Huawei Search that appears if you swipe the top settings menu down too quickly.
This is a phone which is all singing all dancing. Excellent camera and sensors for night time photography. So sensitiveit actually captures stars in the background with an ordinary point and click. The prrocesskr is fast the operating system is seamless and the whole experience is of a top range phone. There would have to be a re olution in technology to beat this phone.
Pros: The screen size of the phone is very generous, crisp and raw. It's beautiful. I also really enjoy and have enjoyed the features in this phone. Such as 'Dark mode' and 'Eye Comfort'. I also really am a big fan of the way you can get around this phone. For example, pressing back or to get out of an app or to see which apps are open-you use the screen for all of these and at first its a little confusing, but you get really into it quickly. Additionally, it was effortless to set up. Great device and Battery life holds well. If you're a constant user, you will notice that your battery may not hold as well as other phone users claim it lasts, however I have noticed that's just mainly down to how much you use your device and how long it's on for. The phone battery still lasts a great amount of time. There's no point of using battery saver on this phone and that feels amazing.Cons: I expected fast charging to be quicker than it is. It does charge fast, however not as fast as I've heard others claim, however it does charge very well, even when you're on the phone. Another downfall is that, when it charges, the phone gets warm/hot - which isn't the greatest to be honest. Additionally the phone sometimes closes apps on its own. I've also had other users tell me that it freezes or glitches, however I haven't experienced that problem at all. The only thing I have had experienced, is the phone randomly closing an app when I'm typing so I have to open it up back again. This does get quite annoying sometimes. However it all might be to do with gesture control as I do type very fast so maybe I'm doing something to make the app close itself down.
The case has been opened obviously. It looks new but I can see a dust inside the camera. I took it in the shower and water got in the phone and has a line in the display. I owned a p20 for 3 yrs and I always take it in bath, shower and in the lake without problem. There's also problem with the light sensor the displays always turn to the brightest. I am not even sure is the case is from official Huawei. Its definitely not a brand new opened box phone but the phone case has been previously opened. If I have known that I would have got a cheaper used unit instead
I have the Huawei 8gb 512gb sunrise. It's a great phone. Love the size, interface, and camera. The only thing is the updates. Android needs to step it up with the software updates. iOS is at 14 and Android is still waiting for 11. With millions of Android users step up your game. The P30 pro global version is the best choice. Outstanding connection speed. I like the camera but needs tweaking for the best results. Sound quality could be improved with another speaker like the iPhone but it's still pretty good. This phone will last a long time, and in 2021 outperforms most flagship phones. If you want a reliable flagship phone with great specs the Huawei P30 pro.
