Hultafors Hultan Hatchet

The hatchet is just what I expected. The fit and finish is perfect. And the hatchet is very sharp right out of the box. I used the hatchet several time and still sharp enough to shave my arm. Great product. Fast shipping and will buy from again.

Design and balance is very good.I bought Hultafors before. This model looked like second hand. The handle was olied, originally they come dry. The blade was sharp, sharper than normally, the grind was further back the blade, like it was resharpened.The axe is completely functional, it just doesn't look like a new axe.

All hail the HULTAN

This is an amazing wee axe. It performs exactly as described and chops bigger wood than what is designed for. I used on a 250 km bikepacking trip and didn’t really notice its 1 kilo weight. The HULTAN produced beautiful kindling and larger chunks from wet pine logs. Excellent product.

Beautiful hatchet

Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but it’s a beautifully finished hatchet. The bit is polished to a mirror finish and feels very sharp out of the box, and head is hung very well. The handle seems to be unvarnished, and feels great in the hand. The grain runs 20-30 degrees off “perfect” but I don’t consider that a problem for a hatchet.I agonized over getting this, or the Hults Bruk Almike (same hatchet but with HB on the handle). The HB is a fair but more expensive, and the sheath might be a bit nicer but neither of those factors were enough to push me to spend the $80 or so more. There’s a lot of value here!

Elite Hatchet

This hatchet is the perfect size. Large and capable enough to break down small logs for firewood, small enough to carry in a backpack (heavy if you're counting grams, but so worth it to be able to have a comfortable fire/shelter in the back country). Comes sharp and holds its edge (breaks kindling down very small, as well as my knife). No issues so far regarding durability, and the 50 year warranty gives me confidence regardless. One of my favourite pieces of gear!

Hawt AF.

Love this wee axe... more a hatchet tbh. Perfect balance and the wood grain on the one I bought was hawt af. lol. The blade was so sharp that I accidentally glanced it ever so gently with my finger and it shaved part of my finger tip off. I was wondering why I was bleeding and then seen the tip on my the ground. It wasn't major but still... so very sharp. What a great edge on it.

The reason is that anytime you buy a wooden handle you should always check the fitment because apparently fitting wood to metal is harder than solving quantum physics. No big deal just take a look at it and see how it looks, if you spend this much on an ax you best make sure it's worth it. This Swedish hand forged ax is made in the longest operating forge in the world. No two axes are identical and each has its own unique character. The blade is hardened but the rest of the ax head is not. This gives the ax an amazingly good transfer of energy while having the harder blade to hold an edge. When you first receive this ax it's razor sharp with a mirror polished blade.I carry it as a lightweight backpacking tool. It's still a hatchet so it has those limits but the bearded head makes it a good carving tool as well. You'd never think an ax that light could chop so well though.But nothing is perfect. The handle is over varnished, this keeps it looking pretty but the hard varnish is not nice on the skin. I sand it off and only coat it with a light application of linseed oil. Also because the head isn't hardened you should limit using it as a hammer. Doing so can cause mushrooming especially if hitting harder surfaces. Though it's perfectly fine to bash a tent stake with it.

Wonderful little hatchet

Beautifully crafted. Feels like a luxury hatchet/outdoor tool. The axe head is very well-shaped and can split logs/accomplish minor chopping jobs no-problem. Great as an all-around solution for camping or by the fire-pit. If you're looking to add an axe to your toolkit, do yourself a favor and buy something from Hultafors - it'll end up being a long-term investment. With replaceable handles, the axe can last a lifetime.

awesome hatchet, perform great on all around camp task , great handle finish, grain orientation spot on , came razor sharp , good thick leather sheath. the hatchet is well balanced , good control on a choke grip for precise work and good cutting capability on full lenght grip . definitely a buy . In combination with the wax can the wood grain just popped really recommand
