I have been doing a lot of clearing the woods around my house and this helmet is fantastic. It makes me want to do more work. When cutting high branches I don't have to worry about little pieces falling on my head. When using a chainsaw I pull down the shield and don't have to worry about tiny shards hitting my eyes. The shield goes up and down very smooth. The sound proofing is very good when using tools. Every aspect of this helmet is great. The fit, the shield, the sound proofing, the UV indicator, the neck protection...Husqvarna really put in the extra effort to make a great helmet.

I bought two of these to use with my invasive species program. Most of what we do is herbaceous control but there’s typically a month or so out of the year where we’re cutting. I thought I was purchasing a high quality helmet that would serve our needs for years. Unfortunately the first use out of the box the ear muffs popped off both helmets and now refuse to stay on. I have continued to use the helmets despite the lack of earmuffs because I’m over 100 miles from the nearest dealer. I also expected a tighter mesh on the dash shield. Alone that wouldn’t be a deal breaker but with ear muffs I cannot recommend this helmet. If the attachment for the muffs was redesigned I would have no problem recommending this helmet or purchasing again.

Glad I came here and read that nearly everyone else was having the same issue. One of the two ear muffs nearly immediately would pop off at the clip nearly every time I raised them, to the point of giving up and just wearing ear plugs. But the whole point to me was to be able to quickly flip up the muffs to be able to talk to someone easily, so that is very disappointing.I'm an engineer but not of helmets (ha ha), but the plastic slide clip and spring just don't mate up well. I would ditch the quick insert design for a more robust metal and screw type of set up. I would not mind having to take out a few screws on the rare occasion I am replacing the ear muffs or removing them. The helmet and face mask work well and are a must for me, I live in Florida and I sweat ... MoreGlad I came here and read that nearly everyone else was having the same issue. A face shield also protects a whole lot more than goggles, so even if you rarely use a chainsaw invest in a helmet and face shield.Unfortunately because of the ear muff design I would not buy or recommend this current model. I don't remember what I paid but it was not cheap, and I have a Husqy chainsaw which is awesome, so I expected better from this company. Also - below in the survey add a "not applicable" choice, not sure how I rate the power of a helmet. I guess not very powerful since one earmuff keeps popping off.

I was using the Husqvarna Classic Helmet so far and it was time to change to a new one. So I gave the Functional one a chance. Why this more expensive helmet? I am helping a volunteer at a narrow gauge train and we clear the tracks in winter and cut woods all winter. So I use the helmet quite often. This helmet is lighter as the classic so that you hardly feel it on your head. I like the fact that it is stepless adjustable to the head. In my case I do it that way, that it slightly clamps on the head so that I can keep it on but move the head on all directions without falling off when the ear protection & vizor are in the upper position. While working I never take the helmet off since items may drop. The vizor is fine and you hardly see it while cutting or ... MoreI was using the Husqvarna Classic Helmet so far and it was time to change to a new one. The ear protection is good; there is a hygienic kit, very inexpensive, as replacement available. Ususally I swap this once a year.Mechanically the helmet is solid and will last long. The hemlet is more money, but really worth it.
I’ve been using my new lid for a couple of weeks now and I’m quite happy with its quality. It is comfortable and light. The ratchet works well to snug things up and the hearing protection is very sound.Bonus with the optional neck flap which protects against sun/wind and snow down your back as it’s quite long. The visor is not extremely rugged tho as I’ve popped it off the hinges a few times already.
I use this helmet nearly every day. Its design is close to perfect in my opinion. It is lightweight, comfortable, breathable and seems to protect my face and head well. With that said, the only negative is that it seems to be cheaply made. I know that seems to contrast my initial statement, but I really do baby it when I use it. If there was an "HD" or "Pro" model which was identical, but uses stronger plastic - I'd pay double. The best way for me to describe it is: Think NYC construction hardhat material vs. a kids costume fireman helmet. This helmet, even though I love it, wouldn't survive a day in the pack of a pickup or in the hands of toddler. Again, with that said, I'd buy it again..
My preavious(old) husqvarna forestry helmet is built much thicker and plastic parts are finished very fine with smooth edges, the webbing for the head suspension, is much higher quality, and does not have frayed ends like my brand new helmet does! The new style forestry helmet has a bit of flex too, the old models have none. So it appears to me this new style forestry helmet will do the job, but husqvarna has cut many corners in the new manufacturing processes. Picture attached are of rough ragged plastic edges on helmet, and frayed webbing ends...
I was wearing a different pro helmet and I switched to this Husqvarna Forest Helmet. The helmet's liner is superior to the other. The ear protection, face shield and ventilation are excellent. The reflective panels and UV indicator are a big plus.
Beware... I use my chainsaw and gear for cutting firewood. I've had this helmet for nearly 3 years for about $129 but have not used it often enough to even make a slight dent in the UV indicator. From about 6 months after I got the helmet the ear muffs would fall off when I tried to adjust them or if I just bumped them the wrong way. At first it wasn't goo bad and I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Then the warranty ended. But now it happens very often and I've read many reviews that this is a likely known problem with this helmet. Now...even out in the field...if I lift a muff a certain way there is a good chance it will detach from the helmet. There is a repair kit but I'm not going to spend $40 for the same design of muffs with no guarantee they will last or have the same exact issue. This one issue - mostly likely a design flaw for an important component - should be handled with replacements at no cost. Other than the muffs I really liked the helmet. But I won't likely be looking at Husqvarna in the future.
Very disappointed with this helmet poor quality screen inserts were broken when the helmet arrived. The plastic bill for the helmet was cheap plastic did not fit the helmet and would not clip on. For the price paid i would have expected a better-quality helmet that would be dependable in the field. Uncertainty of durability that requires a solid piece of equipment to protect your head, I've had older Husqvarna helmets easily ten times better built quality. Helmet reminds me of a thin plastic child's toy helmet. with little head protection.
