Hydro Flask Wide Flex Straw Cap Lupine 40 oz

We got this small 24oz size insulated water bottle to replace a well-known competing brand that held ice "forever", but the old one was awkward and too big. I had read several reviews (outside of Bean) that said this one leaked. That would be a big problem for us, since we carry this inside our saddle-bags on long motorcycle rides. Yippee...used it for a week in the desert this Summer, bouncing around in the bike for 1400 miles. No drips and plenty of cold water. And, I was skeptical of the 'Flex Straw' deal, but it was fantastically easy to use rather than unscrewing the whole top while standing beside the road! All around a good product for us.

There are some really great things about this bottle - it's huge (I only need to fill it twice to reach my daily goal!), it's a beautiful color, and it's super durable. The downside of it is that it doesn't keep my water cold for very long. With my previous water bottle, I could leave the water alone all night and it would still be ice cold in the morning. With my new Hydro Flask, the water stops being cold within an hour or two. Since this is my first Hydro Flask, I'm not sure if the bottle I received is defective or if they're just like that, but it kind of sucks since I fill it in the morning to use throughout the day and by 9am I'm drinking room temperature water.

I have the exact same hydroflask from 1 year ago (on the right) and the quality seems to be different. This new one always tastes like plastic after half a day. I threw the straw away and used my old one and have no issues. The engraving is also significantly smaller on the new one? I don’t know why they would do that. Also this color is not anything like the picture online. It’s not nearly as “bright” which is kinda the whole reason I got another one. A little let down, it’s just okay.
