Hydro Flask Wide Mouth Flex SIP Lid

Works well but… The lid works well for the most part, but the straws that came with it melted in the dishwasher within one week of purchase. There were no directions not to put them in the dishwasher, and I figured my other straws had no issues, so I was disappointed when this happened. Luckily, I have a few spares so I was able to use those. Like others have mentioned, the plastic part somehow is already peeling from bite (?) marks. I don’t bite down on the lid but it peels and flakes rather easily with not a lot of wear and tear. Lastly, I bought this 10 months ago and it already broke. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!

I purchased 4 of these Wide Mouth Flex Sip Lids for me and my family's Hydro Flasks. They all leak! Once you take them apart to clean them, which we did when we first bought them, they leak all down your chin and all over your clothes. They leak between the top and bottom pieces. This is a design flaw! This truly is one of the most important parts of your product. Plus, your products are very expensive compared to many other similar/same products that we have purchased and had better results with. You need to have a superior properly working product if you expect customers to pay top dollar for your product. I am completely underwhelmed and unsatisfied with Hydro Flask products.

Easy to clean. Drip-free chugs of water on walks.

I didn’t think that I would like this lead so much. I have now used it on several three day long walking events and all of the training leading up to them. What I like most about them is being able to take a big chug of water without it pouring all over my face while I am in the middle of walking. This lid is easy to clean. I take it apart and throw it in the dishwasher. One tip: if you take it on an airplane, which I often do, make sure that you keep the bottle upright and open the lid while the plane is climbing towards altitude. If you don’t, it might spray a bit when you open it up the lid the first time. This is true for straw caps too.

Great Idea but Leaking Issues

Have owned multiple Hydro Flask products throughout the years, and this would be my second Flex Sip Lid. Ordered my third MyHydro this past July in a 32oz size. I was very excited to finally have a larger bottle. I had leaking from my bottle/lid almost immediately, and contacted customer service for a replacement lid. My 20oz bottle and Regular/Flex Sip Lid have worked perfectly for years! I was trying to avoid the fold-down straw version for easier cleaning. This worked well for about two weeks, and then started leaking again. Have tried removing/replacing the lid pieces, closing more tightly, etc. Nothing has helped. No matter what I do, I cannot have my bottle at all sideways, or it will leak. I miss the old wide mouth flip lid

These lids aren't perfect. The fact you can disassemble to clean it is great, but why is there not replacement parts available? All I needed was the red gasket inside the lid as mine had started to show wear and tear from daily use and cleaning, but they are not available.Also the old flip lid had fewer moving parts, did a great job at sealing while closed, and really wasn't difficult to clean. I still have an old flip lid I use on a 12oz for drinking coffee while skiing, I can confidently close it, throw it in a pocket for a run, then pull it out and sip coffee on the lift ride up. I can't trust this lid to do that.

Leaks and makes a mess

Bought this for my boyfriend as a gift. We are both disappointed, it leaks terribly. Seems to be an overcomplicated non functional design. We finally figured out the round clear gasket seal under the top seems to be the culprit. The seal never stays in place and when it comes loose, everything leaks out the middle. Not great constantly spilling hot coffee all over.I have the old flip lid on my hydro for coffee use. It had worked great for a couple years and now also leaks (due to the 2 little rubber plugs inside the flip disintegrating over time with hot liquid). On top of that, my wide mouth hydro with straw lid was leaking water constantly, so I ordered a new one, and it also is leaking (water pools where straw top folds). I now have multiple stains on my car seats due to non functioning lids.I really want to like hydro's, but for how pricey they are, these leaking issues needs to be figured out. My old Contigo snap top for coffee never leaked, and was much cheaper. Also my bf's Yeti he's used for years, for water, doesn't have any leaking issues either.

Nice idea, not the best for hot beverages.

First of all, if you have this and it leaks after you have cleaned it, you probably put the seal in upside down. My first go at it left me with coffee streaks down the front of my white shirt. It's not obvious how it goes in, but put the text side of the seal up otherwise it is going to leak when you drink. Not right away though, but after two or three pulls just when you think it's safe.My issue with this thing is that you can't really sip hot beverages with any control. When you tilt it up to drink, there is a delay as the chamber inside the lid fills up, then it all comes out in a full flow. So if your beverage is too hot for a gulp but just right for a sip, you only get the full gulp and it burns. For hot items though, unless you like that first sip to be a roll of the dice as to whether you get a tiny sip of "that's a little to hot still" or one solid pull of "I just scorched my mouth," I'd say find something else.

What were they thinking

I have been happily using Hydro Flask products for almost a decade. I just don't get these new lids? The old lid was one piece and you could open and close easily with one hand. It was easy to clean. This lid is over engineered to the point of being ridiculous. There is an 8 step process for taking it apart to clean? There are 4 different pieces to take apart, clean, dry, and put back together every time? Are you joking? And to open it, you have to use 2 hands. I used to be able to reach down with one hand while driving or watching my kiddos soccer game, open the lid without even looking, drink it, and then close it without even looking. This one requires me to use both hands and try to keep driving. Who thought this was an improvement? It is just so silly. Worst lid design ever.

This lid came on my personalized bottle and it cannot be safely used anywhere but inside your house. If you use it at work, or outside, or on mass transit the place where your mouth goes is continuously exposed to every sneezy, sniffling, coughing, nose wiping person in your vicinity. Even if you twist it closed, your beverage is safe but the mouth piece still exposed. One errant sneeze by a co-worker or fellow passenger and your beverage is toast until you can wash the lid somewhere. Happened to me at work by accident and it was a building we were vacating so there was no where for me to wash and refill it. Peachy. Hydroflasks rock...just not this lid.

leaking sip

I used to love hydro flask and have used it for years (the coffe mug). Suddendly my old lid started to leak. So after a very long waiting period I finally got the new wide mouth flex sip. But I only have problems with it. It keeps leaking almost every second time I use it. I have not found out yet where the problem is but it is extremly annoying. It might just be me who is unable to adjust it properly, but I can't figure it out.I really loved the product for many years but now I would not reccomend it because it is leaking almost every day and I do not know how many shirts I have full of coffe because it leaks always very suddenly and unexpected....;(
