Well , most folks would use the Versa as a fanny pack for hiking , backpacking or just bumming around town. I had a different use in mind. I wanted something so my diabetic items would be easily accessible when I'm out and about. The Dexcom 6 glucose receiver and glucose tablets are in the very front pocket. My wallet is in the center section along with the car/house keys and other items. ( sometimes an insulin pen a ( low Carib ) snack bar is in the back ( netted ) portion of that center section. The back ( outside ) pocket is where you will find my cell phone. I use it over one shoulder and off center in front of me. By wearing it that way I can get to everything ( if needed ) very easily. The real benefit is it's light weight and being waterproof.

I use this pack all the time - out trail-running with my dog to store his running lead & rolled up harness - Ruffwear Hi & Light - when out in the wilds & away from ppl/roads, along with **** bags, antihistamines (adder bites) & headtorch/beacon if expecting to run after dark; on photo shoots as an over-shoulder easy-access slinger to store lens cleaner, cloths & filters, when for instance I’m dancing about bare-legged in the surf taking photos of waves & need to often clean spray from the lens, or during stormy weather with crashing waves & dense spray droplets in the air; out in town for phone/wallet/water/snack bar, etc.; for tools when access is awkward/elevated/cramped; in combo with a SouthWest 2400 pack for an easy access camera pouch when hiking; strapped to ... It’s a great bit of kit, super tough, super stylish, brilliantly designed & precision built, super versatile, love it! Throw away your 80’s fanny pack associations, this is a clean-lined modern essential. Thumbs up from me. 👍🐾

I have traveled UK, Europe and SE Asia and have found this to be a great all round bag for all climates. Not too big, not too small; I find it just right. And yes, the bag can sound a bit “crinkly” but that’s a small trade off for a fabric that is made of treads that are stronger than steel and waterproof. Honestly when you think about that that “crinkle” becomes a 2nd kind of cool!Wears great around the waist and the body which I have the most experience with. Also works as a great stash bag in a larger pack that can be deployed other adventures when the size of the main pack is not needed.Great bag that I can’t recommend more highly!

It's a great size. I think it appears larger on the pictures, maybe because of the model wearing it? I purchased the Vice Versa and for a regular fanny pack it was too small for daily use IMO. So switched to this. Feels durable and looks good. It is pricey compared to a standard REI fanny pack that pretty much does the same thing. But I am happy with the purchase. (Makes a great extravagant gift). I didn't purchase this for hiking but for everyday use. Although I wouldn't hesitate taking it on the trail if I needed the extra storage..
So, I ordered two Versas—one to mount on my waistband and one to strap to the back of my pack for some extra, easily accessible storage. The pouch on my waist carries my food for the day; the one on the back of the pack keeps my extra water bladders and my **** kit. I now have 100+ miles in with the new pouches, and they are exceeding expectations. No, HMG doesn’t sellVersas in different colors. I added the colors with a Sharpie permanent marker, and it seems to be holding up well.
I purchased a similar waist pack from another brand and although it was feather light at 1.6 oz, it turned out to be too small and lacked important features I wanted. After scouring all the shops that make waist packs with Dyneema, I found the HMG Versa to have everything I was looking for. The features I love are the overall dimensions/volume , not too big or small, a key leash for attaching my car key to prevent it from accidently falling out, a stretch divider pocket in the main compartment, the main compartment can hold a 23 oz water bottle, my phone and many other items, a separate front zippered pocket where I keep my credit card, and a rear stash pocket that comes in handy. It's a couple ounces heavier than my prior Dyneema waist pack, but the Versa is near ... Not too big, not too small! Just the right size for attaching to my backpack belt or sternum strap via strap slots and not have it interfere or be in the way. Also used by reattaching the belt strap and using it as a fanny pack. Holds my phone and plenty of snacks while on the trail. I have never gotten any water in the Versa from rain or snow and it gives me a lot of faith that my items will stay dry. Love this Versa!
I upgraded from the Vice Versa and this feels like a step backwards, has no tabs to hold against the zipper which you obviously can’t operate with one hand because they get stuck, for a product aming to be lightweight they don’t seem to have a problem adding redundant buckles, the back pocket is totally useless if it has no way to close it, specially with a slippery material like dcf.For a brand that is basically a fashion statement they decided to remove the logo from this version.Overall the little one is a much better design
I bought the black Versalite with some skepticism...I didn't think I needed it. I am shocked! It is my go-to for hiking, biking, snowmobiling and any airline travel where it can store everything I need to access quickly and it is fast to just throw it in the security line bin without emptying all of my pockets. We just completed the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, Peru. We had the benefit of Guides and we went ultralight to cover distance quickly. I was able to fit .7L platypus, sunscreen, rain jacket, sun glasses, sunscreen, cash, passport, pocket knife, TP, hand sanitizer, Snickers bar, gels, lighter, flashlight, K95 mask and prescriptions all in the Versalite! It rained in torrents and everything stayed dry and ultra-accessible. The Versalite is my favorite HMG ... MoreI bought the black Versalite with some skepticism...I didn't think I needed it. It is ready for any multi-sport/urban activity in any season due to striking such balance of size, weight, organization, fit, style, toughness and weather-worthiness. All my friends want this one. It is indispensable kit.
I like the Versa. Lightweight, comfortable, and spacious. The main issue is quality control. The the rats nest of mis-sewing is unacceptable. HMG for its part did send me a new one. Aside from the rats nest mess of sewing, the Versa isn't perfect. The double zipper on the main compartment sort of defeats the waterproof zipper, even though the fanny pack isn't waterproof, so I find another dangly useless for my purposes. The aergonomic gripe is that when I zip the main compartment I often times need a second hand to zip closed so I want something to hold onto facilitate it. The Vice Versa has a holding tabs on both sides, but for some reason HMG chose not to add them on the bigger Versa.
