HyperX Alloy Origins 60 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red Switches
The keyboard is the main input peripheral used by all computers. The keyboard allows for user input and interaction with the computer. Much like many typewriters the keyboard has all the letters of the alphabet, numbers 0 – 9 and additional special operational keys, e.g. for adjusting the volume or going to your inbox directly. There are three different connection types: – USB is the most modern. You can recognize it by the rectangular connector. – PS/2 connectors are round. This type of connection is fairly commonly used by PC’s. – Bluetooth is another modern (wireless) connection method.

Any keyboard enthusiast that isn’t 18 years old will tell you about how amazing this keyboard is for the value, and they are absolutely right! This keyboard feels beyond premium when compared to other 60% keyboards made by razer, Corsair, and Ducky. Their red switches feel very smooth and the PBT caps have a soft touch to them compared to a gritty texture of other keyboards. Hyper X is the same company that teamed up with a ducky for their special edition 60% keyboard and included a lot of features from the mecha mini on this 140$ model. However, all in all this is a fantastic keyboard with excellent form fact for gaming with maximize desk/mouse space. It is aesthetically pleasing and has performance on par with keyboards twice it’s price. Avoids listening to people saying that the red switches were “crappy” as they are still to this date one of the most sold switches out there! Cheers!

Build quality is on par with the Origins Alloy RGB full size keyboard that HyperX released and with the inclusion of doubleshot PBT keycaps on this, I personally find this sounds and types better than Razer's Huntsman Mini range of 60% keyboards. The placement of the second layer arrow keys is also way more ergonomic compared to where most 60% keyboards place them (usually I, J, K, L). HyperX also appear to have fixed the issues with rattle-y stabilisers on the spacebar for currently sold models compared with when this product was first released. RGB lighting on this is nice and strong with excellent saturation. This 60% keyboard gives you all the benefits of a full size keyboard in a much more compact package and it makes my work from home setup that much more ... The only compelling reason I would have to choose Razer's Huntsman Mini lineup over this are the optical switches used in that model. But honestly, these HyperX Red switches are on par with them.

It's solid, it doesn't budge when you poke it, the keys are fairly smooth, and you don't have to have the software running in the background to get your RGB on. The aluminum feels great and the keys sound amazing, a good solid clack with zero plastic-y feel or pinging. Unfortunately, mine had some bad stabs. The spacebar started clicking, not just rattling, clicking, after a day of use. I'm pretty sure I've read reviews that claim it only gets worse, maybe to the point that the spacebar even locks up. I didn't feel like desoldering to fix it or going through the RMA process, so I returned it and picked up a K65 mini. If you're willing to void the warranty you can sneak in a better set of plate-mounted stabs but be warned: the LEDs are part of the keys. You're not ... Bought this for myself as a birthday present. Pretty alright keyboard but not exactly a 5 star. Some pros and cons- Pros- - Affordable - 60% layout - Solid aluminum frame - PBT keycaps and it also comes with cool accessory keys and a keycap puller. - Switches are smooth and don't feel scratchy like cherry mx reds. - Braided USB-C cable - The Hyper-X NGENUITY software is alright for changing the RGB settings. Cons- - Switches are soldered and NOT hotswappable - Stabilizers make the larger keys (shift, spacebar, enter and backspace) feel a bit wobbly - Switches could use more lube - The user experience of the NGENUITY software could be better. - The USB-C port is deep set on the keyboard. So some third party cables don't fit unless they're pretty narrow Overall a ... MoreBought this for myself as a birthday present. Pretty alright keyboard but not exactly a 5 star. Keyboard is great, switches feel good, build is nice, lighting is cool. The small body with the solid metal base is incredible and makes the keyboard feel really solid. Lighting settings are solid once you get a hang of the software. All around great keyboard. The one problem I've been having is every now and then whenever I wake my PC up from sleep it's unresponsive. It fixes with an unplug and replug. Just strange little inconvenience.
I dont normally write reviews, but I had to in this case. Ive owned a lot of keyboards in the last 30 years, and this one is probably my favorite. The action is firm, without being clicky. The feel is solid and sturdy. It is also the smoothest and quietest keyboard Ive ever owned. I spent a lot of time researching gaming keyboards only because I needed a backlight keyboard. The amount of color options are staggering. If I had a complaint, it would be that the documentation doesnt explain how to change modes very well, but a little experimentation will make it clear. Once you have a setting you like, one button will switch through 3 brightness settings and back to off.I recommend this keyboard even if youre not looking for a gaming keyboard. Best keyboard on a budget. The keys feel great, Its not as loud as a mechanical keyboard and I could definitely hear the difference from my old keyboard. There are many different color options, including the ability to turn the brightness off, 50, or 100. Its bright enough for me to clearly see the keys in a dim room. Colorwise, you can choose from the solid colors green, cyan, blue, purple, pink, white, red, orange, and yellow. You can also customize the zone colors each zone is a color specified by you. Theres even an option to let the color breathe and it goes through all of them in a smooth motion. The media keys allow you to stop, playpause, forward, and go backward. I was looking for an inexpensive keyboard with backlighting for my wifes computer. We returned it because it was difficult to use. For one thing, the keys stick out very high above the keyboard and we were looking for lowerprofile keys. She is a 2finger typist and could get past the key height, but the backlighting was terrible. More light leaks out from around the base of the keys than comes through the letter cutouts on top It was very distracting visually and made it more difficult to distinguish the keys than with a nonbacklit keyboard. To make matters worse, if you turn off the backlighting you cant see the keys at all. The cutouts of the letters are clear for lighting purposes, and without the light they just look black like the keys themselves and you can ... Most of the effects involve continually changing colors or brightness or both, although steadystate illumination is an option. The moving effects were interesting but distracting for actual typing. If you like that kind of thing and dont mind the glare surrounding the keys, perhaps you could find this otherwise inexpensive and functional keyboard to be personally useful
This is a good keyboard. I am writing this review using it right now and I like it. It did take me a while to adjust to the switches as the previous keyboard I had was a tactile keyboard, but after a few hours I was able to adjust. This keyboard has a great price for what it offers because I was thinking of getting the razer huntsman mini, but didn't want the clicky version and the linear switch version (like the one on this keyboard) was more expensive. This is my first 60% keyboard and I use the arrow keys a lot. Having the arrow keys in a similar location on the keyboard made me think the transition from a ten keyless board easier and it was. If this is your first 60% keyboard I would highly recommend for what it offers and the price makes it worth it. I just ... MoreThis is a good keyboard. My Ducky One 2 mini with silver switches that I used for FPS games started acting up after about a year, so I looked for a quick replacement. I was able to pick this board up for $60, and I'm definitely impressed with what you get. Solid aluminum frame, so the board has good weight to it and absolutely no case ping. The hyper x reds switches feel better to me then cherry and gateron reds that I've used in the past, and after coming from silver switches these feel more manageable and I'm having less typos and misclicks. The stabilizers are actually decent as well, and remind me a bit of Ducky's. Has PBT keycaps that are slightly textured, and the included spacebar adds a nice look. Maybe my one negative with the board itself is the USB C port is tight, and I couldn't ...
