The EHB1500 series features a figured Poplar Burl top on an African Mahogany body. This combination offers warm tones and rich resonance. Highly durable stainless steel frets accentuate tonal brightness and will not rust. The luminescent side dot inlays are easy to see in dark environments and the truss rod adjustment is located at the end of neck for easy access. The EHB's headless construction and specially designed body enable the player to maintain a similar playing position whether seated or standing. Its contoured, ergonomic design and chambered body make for a lightweight, well-balanced, and comfortable instrument that's excellent for long sets or practice session. There is extra carving on the back of the body behind the lower horn for easier upper fret access. Also, the top half of the back of the body is slanted which allows the bass to rest slight closer to the player's body for better control and a more ergonomic feel. The Nordstrand Big Split linear humbuckers supply a punchy, powerful, and well-balanced tone, with tonal characteristics between a P and J pickup. The Nordstrands are paired with a 3-band active EQ with a variable mid-frequency. There is also an EQ bypass switch for passive operation with the treble control acting as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed. The electronics package supplies a variety of different tones suitable for a wide range of styles. The MR5HS bridge is designed especially for the EHB basses and features wide intonation range. Each bridge piece is independently and securely attached to the body for maximum vibration transfer, and the saddles are adjustable for string spacing +/-1.5mm. Teflon washers are used on each tuner for a smooth tuning action. Schaller S-Lock strap lock pins and a Neutrik locking jack hold the strap and cable securely, and a detachable finger ramp and a gig bag are included with each instrument.

Great lightweight option with plenty of tone options

First of all the good sides of the bass. My particular bass weighs in at 7lbs on the dot. The natural finish feels great, and the neck plays insanely smooth. The top on the bass is beautiful as most of Ibanez's Poplar Burl tops are and you can clearly tell where the chambering is located throughout the body whenever your finger tip taps around one. The bass plays great and I love the ability to change the string spacing on my own from the bridge. Tuners and knobs are all very smooth too. There are almost too many little tone options you can pull out of this bass. Now sadly the bad aspects of this bass. The top of the non existent headstock is stamped with the model number and serial number of the bass which doesn't bother me at all, but on the electronics cover on ... MoreFirst of all the good sides of the bass. The top of the non existent headstock is stamped with the model number and serial number of the bass which doesn't bother me at all, but on the electronics cover on the back of the bass they decided to stamp in the "made in Indonesia" along with the little trash can logo and such, which kind of annoys me. The rear strap button is right above the tuners so it sits lower in an odd spot and because of where the button is located, every strap I have tried runs up the body of the bass and is constantly rubbing against my arm which can get annoying at times. The fit and finish overall are a bit lacking as well. I'm not sure what the nut is made of and it's is not cut straight at the bottom and has a visible gap running along it's front. The neck pocket looks pretty rough too, and the pocket bottom is squared off even though the neck is rounded so there are gaps in the corners of the pocket. there are also pretty big tolerance gaps in the pockets recessed for the knobs, which I feel would have been easy to fix. The biggest annoyance though, is there are little chips of wood in the cutouts of the body under the top, so I am constantly hearing little things rattle around inside the bass with no way to get them out.

I was fortunate enough to get one of the last one of these in the limited run Ocean Floor finish. This is hands down best sounding, best playing, most comfortable basses I've ever played in my life. The time came when I could finally get myself a new bass and I actually had Rickenbacker/Fender American level funds to play with. After weeks of tireless research and YouTube videos, I pulled the trigger on one of these. The finish and appearance of these in person is unreal!!! These bases are boutique level at a much more affordable price compared to a Dingwall. My son actually plays a Dingwall and he was blown away when he played this bass. The Nordstrand pickups are a must. The clarity and tone is unmatched. I will be returning this used instrument tomorrow. One of the plastic knobs was broken / warped right out of the 3x used GIBSON BOX this ' Brand New " Ibanez was shipped in. It had a lot of DUST on the pickups. I dont believe the Nords are working properly. The back battery cover will not close flat. The " Luminescent inlays " are not at all Luminescent - good luck seeing where you are at in dark environments. Why rhey chose to put the neck markers off on the side where you cant see is beyond me. The Strap lock could not be in a worse position - there should be two of them - " for one size fits all " compatibility - close to the input jack wouldve been a nice spot for a second strap lock. As there is no indication that it happened during actual shipment - calling it " Brand New " NOPE - No Can DoBrian Matthews

The Headless Monster

Overall:This is the nicest bass guitar I have ever owned. It is super light weight, has so many different tones that you can't possible not find what you're looking for. The back of the neck is so soft to the touch is makes for fast playing and very easy slides. The tone this guitar puts out is unbelievable. It is so clean and crisp and clear I don't think any other bass out there sounds this good. The guitar stays in TUNE!!! I use a strobe tuner and on occasion I might have to turn these monster tuners maybe 1/20th of a turn. The intonation was perfect right out of the box. The bridge is so beefy. I think this is Ibanez's best bridge they have ever made. The strap locks are sturdy and beautiful as all of the hardware is. This neck is awesome and beautiful ... MoreOverall:This is the nicest bass guitar I have ever owned. The wood used for the body is gorgeous and the dragon's eye finish is spectacular. My wife is very jealous of this instrument or should I say work of art. BUY IT!! You will not regret it.
