(Maybe better strings can help here, maybe higher tension ones, have to experiment). So, yeah, the 'thin line' thing: unless you're familiar with the Ibanez product codes, nothing, neither the picture nor the description, mentions this is a thin line guitar: If you expect a full body classical guitar, with a full warm sound, then this is a major let down. It can still be a good guitar, just not what I meant to order: it doesn't fit me well .. the thin body simply doesn't feel right on my leg.So, it's partially (Sam Ash could have done a better job describing the product) my own fault (not doing more research, buying online, etc), so I don't know what to do.But if Sam Ash would consider taking it back, then I would probably consider upgrading it to the more expensive Yamaha CG172SF (flamenco).Having said all that, for a nylon string guitar with piezo element, and if you can live with the shallow body and 'thinner' sound, it's a steal at that price. But again, for 'real' serious classical guitar work: this is not the right guitar .. it's more a 'campfire' guitar.Note: The picture here shows the 'electronics' (knobs etc) on the body above the wide part of the body .. my version of this guitar actually had them close to the neck (where they should be, so as not to hinder your right arm!

The guitar is plenty loud for practicing and playing at home without plugging in. The onboard tuner is very useful, as well. The neck is very playable and there is plenty of space for someone like me who has large hands. I have enjoyed playing the guitar every day and I heartily recommend it to guitarists of all playing levels. As an added note: I've played the instrument for several years. Cheers!

Excellent! I like it many ways better than a Godin ACS-SA or Cordoba.

Overall:What a nice surprise! Its pretty as the retail photos and plays perfectly with the strings that came on it. I'm very happy with the out of the box setup but I know I must be lucky because most guitars do require some adjustments. I just sold a Godin Nylon ACS-SA KOA and for my limited purpose I like the real classical sound coming out of this guitar when plugged in and using Head Phones. I haven't really played it much without being plugged in but it sounds nice unplugged from my limited experience. I have also owned a Cordoba C3M in the past and I like this guitar as well if not better than both the other guitars I mentioned. My guess is that either one will offer quality sound. Also: I was surprised that it has a Truss Rod. Many nylons don't so it is a nice feature for a yearly neck check and or adjustment. My guitar included a backup saddle, TRS 1/4" cable, Hex Wrench along with a few pamphlets and etc. Highly Satisfied! Way to go Ibanez! :-)The guitar arrived double boxed from FedEx within a few days of ordering. Great Deal again from zZounds. I highly recommend zZounds.Note: The sound hole cover by DAddario "Screeching Halt Feedback Suppressor" does not fit the sound hole on this guitar.

Ibanez created an outstanding hybrid guitar.
22 April 2021

This guitar has the features I needed, including the tapered neck, nylon strings, and decent electronics. I was searching for a sound that did not come across tinny through a PA system, and I found it. I enjoy the mellow tone for finger-style chord-melody playing, but I also like that I can play rhythm guitar when needed with a pick and don't lose tone quality. Construction is excellent. I've had the guitar for several months and have used it professionally.

Nice guitar at a good price.
11 August 2018

I bought an "Open Box" offer which, from what I can see, means that the guitar was taken out of the box and played. There are no scratches or blemishes, it looks like 'straight from the factory".For the price this is a really nice nylon string guitar. The neck is narrower than a classical guitar so it is easy to adapt from playing my metal string guitar. The thin body is nicer than a classical or auditorium size for playing but still has good sound acoustically. Plugged into my amp the sound is great. The built in tuner is a plus and the pre-amp controls are very good (Bass, Treble and volume). For the price it is a really good guitar for the amateur player, no need to splurge on an expensive guitar for the non-pro.

Not bad!
24 April 2023

Hybrid nylon-string acoustic guitars were created to cater to electric guitar and steel-string acoustic guitar players. For the life of me I can't understand why this particular hybrid guitar does not come with a radiused fretboard. I can't understand why this particular hybrid guitar doesn't come with strap buttons. I had to install my own, how inconvenient!Other than those two complaints, it's not a bad guitar for the sale price of two bills. I'm not a big fan of gloss-finish necks, so I used a 400 grit sandpaper to remove the gloss-finish layer and now I'm much happier with it. The sound of the built-in electronics is not as good as a fishman electronics, but it doesn't sound bad either. Acoustically the volume is pretty good for a thin-body guitar. The tuning keys are okay, not the best and not the worst. The 12th fret intonation on the 2nd, third, and sixth strings were way off, the other strings were close. I did my best to correct the intonation by shaping the saddle, but there is only so much one can accomplish considering the thickness of the saddle. It's better now than when received, but not perfect. Ibanez is famous for their fast-playing necks, they really should've made the neck-profile to this guitar 1 or 2 mm thinner.I bought this all-laminate guitar mainly for traveling and outdoor performances. It is good for that purpose. No buyer's remorse here.

Review of Ibanez Thinline Classical Electro-Acoustic in Amber
24 October 2024

Suited my limited budget perfectly and was a genuine surprise at how lovely this is. Played well out of the box but with a little bit of time spent on setting it up properly it's really sweet now and really easy to play.Had to get a wider Capo as my standard one wasn't quite wide enough. All in all excellent value for money and well chuffed with it.

The guitar came well packaged and protected I was very pleased to see that.It looks great played great out of the box with a little tune up only. It is very well put together, the gloss finish and attention to details superb. For me it sounds great acoustically or plugged in (very nice preamp), I don't know what strings it shipped with but again no complaints. Nice neck easy very playable. The string height it suits me just fine. I've been playing guitar/bass for 20+ years and I have to say at this price point this is a super guitar. Whether you're gigging or recording/ jamming at home this GA5GTE is more than capable at a bargain price. Definitely recommended.
