Great for around town and deep in the woods

I bought this shirt because I actually found one hiking on the trail. Yea, I'm that guy. It was filthy but I knew the brand and took it home and washed it. I wore it all the time and loved it so much I wanted some more. It's a great shirt for everyday use in the colder temps and can be layered very easily. I use this for traveling and it seems to never get stinky. I can wash it in the sink with Woolite and hang to dry and it's ready to go for another 4 days! I have other brands of Merino Wool shirts but so far Icebreaker is the softest next to my skin and doesn't feel scratchy at all.

I'm a QLDer who moved to Melbourne a few years ago and I don't think I'll ever get used to the cold. In fact, I seem to complain about it more each year. I decided to invest in some proper thermals for everyday wear. I did a bit of research before going with Icebreaker but I'm glad that I decided to take the plunge. The price for these 100% merino wool thermals I think is very fair given the cost of similar synthetic products from competitors. I like that I'm supporting a company that cares about their environmental impact. But most importantly, I'm warm without wearing like 6 layers and I've stopped annoying people with my constant complaining about how cold it is/

This is an extraordinary base layer. It is warm, trendy, versatile and comfortable. It perfect for snowshoeing and trekking in the winter. It is a must for hiking in the summer in the Eastern Seaboard and even long distance cycling trips in the spring and the fall. I enjoy using my Oasis 200 at work. I work as a chemistry specialist, thus I am always moving in the lab and my Icebreaker keep me dry and comfortable.

Immaculate
31 October 2022

While I own a couple of Icebreaker boxers, this is my first base layer top. Absolutely brilliant. Yes, merino is merino, but icebreaker's quality is immaculate. I've been using it as a base layer for shoulder season/winter cycling with only a vest on top, and it's been fantastic. The knit work is great, it's handling the workout with dignity, and the insulation and breathability is stunning. Granted, I'll need a long sleeve mid layer for the winter, but it'll still be miles away from the other options. Having said that, I wish the brand partnered with graphic designers, because in my opinion, their graphic design offering is pretty basic; if they mixed their quality products with top notch graphic design, they could be the Rapha of merino.

Just Exactly Perfect
10 January 2023

I have the maroon version of this 250 merino wool shirt. It's just a little roomy up top and more form fitting along the sides. If you're in good shape, this shirt will make you look super buff. Standard Icebreaker quality, which is to say awesome. Comfort level? Wow. If I could afford a wardrobe full of Icebreaker, I would have one. Way more comfortable than the 250 shirt of top competitor.I got a size larger than necessary since I warm wash and medium dry with the rest of my clothes, so there's just a touch of shrinkage, but probably about the same as cotton. Don't forget to avoid fabric softener.

Love this top - woman's POV

These 200 Oasis long sleeve tops are just amazing. I would wear one all the time if I could. I've had no trouble with laundering them either, and the top gets softer with each wash. (I do not put them in the dryer, but they dry really fast when hung up.) I have black, and right now I'm sleeping in it for cold weather. But the weave is so nice and fine that it (or the short sleeved one which I also have) could be worn under a blazer or as a regular top regardless of being active wear. I expect these tops to last for many years. BTW - I am a 6' tall, middle-aged amazon female, and the XXXL fits all my curves just right. (To be fair, I can also wear the XXL a little more tight - I'm kind of right between those two sizes in the men's.) I'm no go on their women's sizes. ... MoreThese 200 Oasis long sleeve tops are just amazing. I would wear one all the time if I could. The Men's Oasis 200 shoulders and chest fit me perfectly, but the arms are too long which is not a problem for me. My husband who is also very tall can also fit the Oasis 200 just fine. I'm not sharing - I bought him his own.

Past Experience New application

I've used Icebreaker for many years now with great success. Hiking, camping and early day walks all year around. Now I'm looking to use them for cross country and touring on a bicycle. I usually have cycling jerseys but with the excellent temperature regulation that Merino wool provides the base layer and half zip models will give better comfort on those long days. Wish me luck! Thanks Icebreaker!

The old school home run base layer!

Oasis is one Icebreaker's signature pieces, one of its oldest models, and one of its most successful I'm sure. It's clear why. 100% merino, durable and comfortable construction. Can handle active pursuits, or just melt away when lounging around. My favorite base layer for cool to cold conditions. The fit is off in some Icebreaker products, some way to big or small for the listed size, or the shoulders not matching the torso, or vice versa. Oasis is a perfect fit all around.

The perfect west coast winter daily wear
9 January 2022

I've had a black 200 for over 15 years - today it goes over my Farmer John wetsuit when I paddleboard. That sort of durability motivated me in the Fall of 2021 to buy another 200 - also in black. The only difference - the new one is sized properly (check the sizing chart - normally I'm an L-XL - but the chart told me to buy at XXL, which is just right).I began wearing it nearly every day, over top a t-shirt. In the rainy cold Pacific Northwest winter, it's perfect. That inspired me to wish for another one, in dark blue, for Christmas. And that's the purchase I'm writing about here.I would highly reco these shirts to anyone for daily wear. But the quality is ridiculously good.

comfortable and warm, really happy with this top.
15 November 2022

this is the first time i've bought a merino baselayer. i've been wearing it for a few weeks now and i have to say that that i'm really impressed. the fit is good, allowing good movement, and the fabric is amazing, it's comfortable on the skin and when coupled with a decent mid-layer it keeps you nice and warm. what's brilliant is that as well as warming you up it also allows you to cool down. i've been wearing this in the autumn in the UK. it's november and i still haven't put the heating on thanks to my new baselayers (i got long johns too). as a baselayer noob i hadn't known about the icebreaker brand before but they clearly know how to produce high quality clothing made of merino. it's money well spent.
