Love the fun stripes. Great addition to my ice breaker wardrobe. Perfect for keeping me warm in winter wearing under sweaters (and adds a little flair under cardigans) and nice to wear on its own in fall/spring. Sizing is a little tight. In ALL other brands (US), I am almost always a small, but I usually need a medium in icebreaker. I accidentally ordered a small in this shirt and washed it before I realized it was a small so was too late to return. It's a little tight. A medium would have been more comfortable.

I love the Oasis 200 Crewe neck. Wanted navy for ages and it is never in the sale but got discount on the 20% off day. Very lucky. Great shape, fitted and flattering. Slim fit but plenty of room under armpits due to special shaping which makes this design better than competitors. Fit finder suggests perfect fit. I am broad shouldered but fits so well. Many other brands are too narrow on shoulders for me , then baggy. This is a sleek shapely design. Fabric superb. Washes well. Even spun these tops at 1400 in machine by mistake and they come out fine. Ironing optional. I hang on the line and the shape stays good. Colour lovely. I have 3 of these now. A turquoise and a mink scoop neck. Prefer the neck coverage of the Crewe to the scoop.

After reviewing different types of base layers- wool synthetic, blend- I decided I wanted wool because of it's wicking, warmth, and antimicrobial properties. I tried on a bunch of shirts at different weights to find which would be most comfortable- snug but not too tight, warm but not too hot, and something that wouldn't be itchy as I have a bit of a wool allergy. Smartwool socks have never bothered me, but rough wool sweaters are a no. I settled on this shirt for a few reasons: it fit right, it was soft and didn't make me feel itchy, and it was that much cheaper than Smartwool or other brands. I've been looking for thermals for my whole family to purchase for our upcoming winter holidays. I'm so happy I found this brand! I love their story and I'm happy I could purchase it all in one place! Some brands I looked into didn't have kids selection.Everything I got fits perfectly, except kid's socks were too small. Their size chart is mostly accurate. The merino base layers are soft, comfortable and warm. The packaging was very nice. Tiny detail but it being packaged in a nice box vs plastic bag felt elevated.
I think I have 5 of these that I've bought over the years in solids and stripes. They're thick enough to not be see-through like many of the thinner Icebreaker shirts in light colors. They are also comfortable, fitted, but not too tight. I'm a curvy C-cup, and they're very flattering. I also really like that the collars are high.The all-wool makes them not retain stink after washing like many of the mixed fabrics do. I easily can wear 1 shirt for a week without washing, assuming I don't get it dirty from mud or food and need to wash because of that.I wish these were available in short sleeve at this weight. I'd get a larger size to have slight looser t-shirt fit if those were available.
This top is a workhorse in my closet! Have purchased it in many colours over the years and they have lasted very well. They work super well as a thermal for skiing (on super cold stormy days I would opt for a 260 Oasis instead) and hiking. I also use them constantly during the day in the city as a warm layer in the cooler months in Melbourne (worn over a t-shirt to protect from the belt area). Because this top is so versatile it makes an awesome item to pack for travelling and reduce the amount of clothing you need to take with you. Love the thermal qualities and I feel my temperature is evenly regulated across the the entire upper body.
I always wear these merino shirts under my paramedic uniform. I work in all kinds of environments, inside and out. Sometimes I get super sweaty from a high intensity call, but these are quick to dry and keep me well regulated regardless of temp. Never uncomfortable against my skin. I'm 5'9, 145lbs and I like a small because it fits close but not tight. Merino has become my go to for most activities. The 100% merino has great odour control, and although it won't last as long as a blend, it has longevity. As a base layer, I've got 4 years with seasonal winter use.
I ordered a new Oasis LS for women directly from Icebreaker. I washed it according to the instructions and was even more careful. Result: Despite meticulously following the care instructions (double net, 20C degrees washing, no enzymes, only other Icebreakers in the washing machine) the product broke.3 big holes. Icebreaker refused to exchange the product. I did not wear it for any sports before washing, and also not afterwards.Icebreaker claimed I damaged the product which was not true at all.Icebreaker: "as this happened due to the usage of the shoe"--> Making up lies about the customer! Which shoe? I did not use any shoe in my washing machine with an Oasis. Since that is the part that shows when you wear it, it would seem important to have a nicely finished neck seam. The one I bought years ago had a double stitched, sturdy neck line. The new one has just one lazily stitched line of sewing. This is not going to hold up over time. The stress of pulling the garment over your head will eventually put too much strain on the single line of stitching. I attempted to photography the difference for this review, but because the garment is black the problem did not show up well in the pictures.I have bought many Icebreaker items.
