I used to be a huge fan of North Face baselayers, until I tried Icebreaker. North Face bottoms are warm & comfy but run a bit short - they fit just above the ankle, which was one negative. Not only are Icebreaker bottoms the perfect length, but they're softer, fit more snug/form fitting than North Face, which is a positive bc it keeps your body temp warmer (but not too hot bc they do regulate my body temp nicely) & the fabric stretches w/movement so they remain form fitting (they don't stretch out over time - like around the knees like my North Face did). I've been wearing the 260 Icebreakers walking my dog throughout winter, snowshoeing, skiing & just playing in the snow & they keep me toasty when temps get into the 20s, teens & single digits. The thermal leggings are fantastic. I went on a family holiday to Lapland at Christmas time 2023 and the temperatures were on average -12. My legs were always nice and warm and more importantly I was always comfortable. The Ice Breaker leggings are worth spending the money on. They are top quality and worth every penny.

Perfect merino baselayers for both everyday and hiking activities. They are fit but comfortable. Feel so soft and they don't restrain you like other tight sport shirts. They allow to keep your body warmth but also regulate it pretty well. They don't smell. I would recommend sizing down.

I purchased the Icebreaker Men's 260 Tech Base Layer Leggings for my husband. I also purchased the Base Layer Top. He like both the top and leggings very much. It is difficult to find a good fit for him anywhere. He is tall with an athletic build. Unfortunately, I had to return both pieces. We will keep trying.

These super thick base layer pants work for me in the negative temps. Anything above 0' and I usually choose a lighter weight base layer. The heavy weight is different than other lighter base layers. The lighter ones feel like a good base layer, these heavier ones make me feel like I have a layer of blubber around me, like a Arctic seal or something. It just feels different (better) than lighter weights base layers, including the ones made by icebreaker. Something about the thickness just makes it feel softer, warmer, better.
I cannot yet speak to the long term durability or how they hold up against hard use. The fit and finish is good and the material is lightweight breathable and unrestrictive. Comparing these to the synthetic cheap pairs I've used from big box stores they are night and day different. I've been working on a highway project and it's November in the Midwest, temps at start of day range from 15-30*F but can increase by sometimes 20-30* by the end of day and this base layer preforms perfectly adapting to the climate and doesn't overheat my bottom half or become gross from sweat. I'll be buying multiple pairs so I can always have them with me.

I'm 177cm tall and about 78kg with somewhat athletic build. This base layer will not warm you by itself unless you are active, because it's so breathable. When you layer it under another piece of clothing, it will trap heat between layers and warm up when you are moving and generating heat. If being only stationary, it will probably not be warm enough for below freezing temperatures, unless you have some something thicker layered on it. Also, if you are very active, it will likely cause you to overheat, unless you take of layers when needed. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and it works for ...
